    As a Kiwi fan...this.win was amazing....the team seemed very determined and caught almost everything. There are a few changes to the team that can make it even better. We always seem to be an injury or two away from our best but they pulled it off regardless. A great show from Ravindra as to how to bat against India.

      Mate you should be so proud. The big 3 - Aus, England and India have much to learn about the humbleness of the NZ team. Ofcourse the arrogance of the big 3 will override their capacity to learn.

      @sanjayprakash471 we do not have the passion for cricket that India does...but I believe coaching of youngsters has improved here regardless...especially compared to when I was a youngster. I tip my hat to the unsung heroes of cricket...the school coaches...mums and dad's who drive kids to practices and games and spend weekends watching their kids play. Once concern here is that with section in filling...backyard pitches are slowly disappearing😒.. however with the recent influx on Indian immigrants...the pool of young cricket talent available will surely grow....places for school 1st 11s will become increasingly competitive.

    India are in a similar boat to Australia with ageing players, but my perception of India is that their young guns to come in are significantly stronger than Australia’s. Jaiswal, Gill, Sarfaraz, Washington are actually playing better than most of the older guys in that team

    Dont underestimate NZ. We could have won the 2nd test at Christchurch against Australia last year. Cam Greens last wicket stand with Lyon in the first test got Australia a match winning lead in first test. We have Kyle Jamieson coming back, Sears will replace Southee in the future and Kane Williamson didnt play the test series against India.

    So far as Mohd. Shami is concerned I laud your cheek which suggests you know about Shami's fitness much better than Indian administrators. Of course, they would love to have him even at 90% fitness, but there is simply no percentage in chancing your premier bowler breaking down mid-test and it IS a full-length 5 test series. Whichever way it goes, count on the Indians to be totally unafraid of taking the Aussies on, result be damned.

    I wonder if Williamson will be fit for the 3rd test at Wankhede. That would be great. Unfortunate for Will Young who's done a good job, but obviously he'll make way for Kane when he's fit. Also wonder if Henry will be right from his glute strain which didn't sound too serious, but obvioisly enough to prevent his taking part in Pune. If he'd been fit, Southee might've missed out, although im not certain of that. If they play 3 seamers again in the 3rd test then Santner will have to play at the expense of Patel on current form. That's a good side: Latham*, Conway, Williamson, Ravindra, Mitchell, Blundell+, Phillips, Santner, Henry, Southee, O'Rourke. 3 seamers and still 3 spinners if Ravindra gets more overs. He's taken a test 3fer at Wankhede Stadium on the last tour, in the test where Ajaz Patel took his 10fer and 14 for the match, Ravindra took 3 - 56 off 14 overs in India's second innings. He's shown in his short test career to date, that he can bowl proper left arm orthodox spin at that level and take wickets, even though his bowling is a work in progress still. I think he's going to be a magnificent batting allrounder.

  • @kennethcrowther2277
    @kennethcrowther2277 3 дні тому +1

    Also, although he hasn't taken a bag yet, not having really bowled enough overs, i think Southee's getting back to somewhere near his best form. Relinquishing the captaincy has helped his bowling i think. Im not worried about his age at almost 36. He's a very fit athlete and dosen't rely on great pace obviously. I think he's got plenty left in the tank yet, and i hope he can maintain good form now and keep his spot so he can overtake Hadlee's tally of 431 test wickets. That late outswinger that knocked off Rohit's off stump in India's first innings at Pune, was an absolute beauty. A Southee classic, and it got the ball rolling so to speak. The only wicket of the match to fall to seam bowling, and the Indian captain for a duck right up front.

    Im not saying it was intentional, but that full toss from Santner to Kohli was actually a pretty useful delivery. He should've played it with a straight bat of course and almost certainly would've been fine and likely would've hit it for four. However, it certainly dropped on him with some pretty good dip. Also, i wouldn't worry about Ben Stokes not being the batsman he was. He's not too old. Injury recently has obviously really interrupted his preparation quite severely which is understandable. As the saying goes, form is temporary, class is permanent. Stokes isn't finished yet.

    When Ponting was young coming through and often failing the good thing for Australia at the time was both Waugh's were at their batting peaks and Taylor was established as leader at the top of the order although not at his consistent batting peaks. The issue with this batting line up is Smith is past his peak years, Head is a dasher and no real strength at the top. Ponting was able to come in and out of the team. This current team is largely carried by the bowling attack and a batsman will produce a big innings just not the consistency.

    India may or may not win BGT down under this time around BUT it suddenly doesn't become as bad a team as this biased journalist is projecting it to be! Losing a test series after 12years at home hurts fans & players equally but Aussies should look at their home record 2009 onwards...fortress Gabba being breached twice is icing on cake!!
    If these 2 oldies could refresh their memory, last time around India's "non desript" XI, devoid of virat, shami, ashwin made them(full strength Aussies) eat humble pie so let's not count the chickens before they hatch! Biased Aussie journos like this fella Robert Card-duck who demean opposition teams, when get smeared by egg on their face, and they fall flat on their face with their condescending motormouth predictions.....makes the wins blissful!!
    In anticipation of a hard nosed, bloodied, historic series....which also be the last time fans there will see Virat & Rohit in tests. So true cricket fans all over the world, do enjoy the series. Best of luck to both the teams.

    Arrogant? Absolutely not! Over-confident? Not really! Complacent is the word that comes to my mind and after 18 series wins in a row, I think it is allowed. But what matters even more than complacency here is the absolutely immaculate batting strategy and equally perfect implementation of it by NZ batters. Their spinners, on the other hand, zeroed in on the fact that Indian batters are not comfortable sweeping consistently, and hence are more vulnerable to a decent line and length on responsive wickets. I daresay this performance by the kiwis is going to be change the way all the visiting teams handle Indian spinners. All good for the game this, for Indian think tank too is wide awake now and will begin to think of counter-measures.

Have anybody come across a game after two day's torrential rains with the pitch under wraps to understand and foresee how it behaves. It is a conundrum of freak happenings like Wellington weather howler catches by Conway Aizaz and Henry. It just happened and it took 37 years.
