OSE A.501 Locomotives

In 1975 OSE took delivery of ten Montreal Locomotive Works model MX636 locomotives. These locomotives were intended for use on freight and passenger trains and were fitted with electric train heating, unlike the A.451 locomotives. Like the A.451s, the A.501s were refurbished in the early part of the 21st century, although outwardly the only change in appearance was to the colour scheme.

A.509 passes Mouries with a freight, heading toward Thessaloniki.
3rd May 1997
A.503 is seen with A.210 backing on to the stock for Train 723, the 08:20 Thessaloniki - Kozani, followed by several minutes of footage shot from the window of the train.
At Kozani A.503 heads off to the turning wye with the van for the return of train 724, the 13:07 Kozani - Thessaloniki, which is seen passing Lake Vegoritida. En route, A.510 is passed in company of an A.351 locomotive. Finally, A.503 is seen leaving Skydra with train 724.
4th May 1997
At Serres, A.501 replaces A.454 & A.368 on the front of train 604, the 23:55 Athens - Ormenio. There follows some out of the windows shots of the loco performing well. At Drama A.501 received some attention from the crew and then departs in fine style, complete with typical dumper truck sound and smoke!
A.503 leaves Thessaloniki with train 334, "The Hellas" 19:30 Thessaloniki - Budapest.
28th September 1997
Shots from the window of A.510 working train 613, the 06:40 Ormenio - Thessaloniki. En route, A.503 passes with a freight train and is also seen climbing Rodopoli bank from the window. At Thessaloniki A.510 shunts the van from train 613 out of the platform.

A.509 passes train 723 with a train of loaded sugar beet wagons.
5th October 1997
A.503 arrives at Athens station with a freight from Pireas, then departs northbound.
14th May 1998
A.509 passes train 613 with a freight.
16th May 2009
Almost exactly eleven years later, A.508 is seen at Lianokladi assisting an ailing A.471 on a train from Athens to Thessaloniki.
