It kinda scares me how many of the knives on this list I have. Need a Buck 110 now, among others. No one told me steel was addictive until it was too late.
Tell me about it 😁
Kershaw will replace springs and parts for free. Cheap blade replacement. Their warranty is as good as Benchmade's.
Kershaw heat treat microstructure isn't that great. But they have some iconic models.
pretty sure he de-assisted the leek on purpose to make it manual
@@tacticalcenter8658 😂 source material???
@@jaredbryant8297 look at cut testing and rc numbers data. Lots of it available. Outpost76 is just one you can check. Zt and Kershaw are mass manufacture companies and they are probably the largest in America if not the 2nd largest. They dont really care how good their microstructure/performance is.
Kershaw have sent me two separate springs to replace on my Leek. I’ve had it for years
I love that you can still go to Walmart and buy a Buck 110 or a Kershaw Blur for a reasonable price. They're both great knives and available just about anywhere that big stupid store is. That speaks volumes about how popular/iconic they really are
My local Walmart has the Buck 110 for $35.00. For me its a bit heavy for my every day carry but mine always goes with me when I go camping. The price is low enough to just grab one even if you keep it for emergency use or whatever. Just my .02 cents... Another fine video!!!
Thank you
@@NeevesKnives Thank you sir. Your videos are great because they help the person who actually uses their knives. The real use and sharpening tips are very helpful.
The Leek was the knife that started it all for me
The deka in magnacut is the best lightweight knife, it blows the bugout out of the water, the only fault on the deka is no aftermarket scales. I like the bugout but they need to offer blade steels like the bailout has.
Excellent list of iconic folders. Might have included Emerson Wave, and Bob Lum Spyderco.
Ya I get torn slightly between those but Manix XL comes out on top Shaman is Awesome though
I have a rainbow leak and a Damascus leak and like you say I’ve given away several of these because they are just so cool
I feel like the Ka-Bar USMC, the classic Benchmade Balisong, and the Microtech Ultratech should be on this list
Congrats on the Hello Fresh sponsorship ! Sweet video like always
Awesome group of Knives! 👍🏻✌🏻
Jared, could you see AD20.5 being in this list. Possibly a flash in the pan (I don’t think so) or in it for the long run. I think the shark lock has great future.
I cannot bring myself to like the compression lock.
3:11 Is that a Dalstrong kitchen knife I see there? Or are my eye going bad with my age?
One obvious missing for me would be Boker AK74 ... well I guess if you start to add all the obvious choices list would go for a long time ;) ...
Agree .. Praxis is superior pretty much in every way
The Rat 2 has a BIG fatal flaw to me, the tip doesn't sit far enough in the handle! I got cut pretty good just reaching to pull it out of my pocket..
Your comment made me look at mine and there's no way you could force your flesh into it far enough to catch the tip on mine.
where did you get those purple carbon fiber pm2 scales?
Hello fresh really does have great food, I’ve tried it a few times in the past.
Great video!! Manix2 for me, sheepsfoot grip.
I love the buck 110 it is number 1 to me
i had that kershaw but lost it but anyway 3rd day of trying can you cheack out the case blackhorn
I can't find it, I tried searching it and I'm not sure I'm getting to the right knife, can you send me a link to my email or instagram please, if not I can attempt to find it again
Fun vid. Thanks meng!
I paid 180 for both my Bugouts , if I hunted I could have gotten it cheaper...I love my Rat 1 and 2 , but the Rat 1 the scales are so aggressive they rip up my jeans ( Silvers ) and my 5.11 Stryke pants which is what I ware 99% of the time because of the 2 front ( magazine type pockets) I keep my flash light in one too .. my next Rat 1 will have the carbon fiber scales for 45 bucks im getting two at the same time..I have the large Chris Reeves Sabenza but my pocket clip has gotten loose and has some play but it still sits in my pocket I butt my flash light up against it to keep it from sliding around loose , my Schrade ( 110 ) I had since Jr High im 49 , I kept it in my Kit in the Army , stays on my night stand
Solution for Rat 1 clip: jam the Sebenza blade under it and lift just a bit to lighten clip pressure. Test in pocket and repeat to the proper tension.
I had to do the same on a Terzoula.
I think if the RAT was too get a modern face-lift then it may have had an even better chance of beating out the Praxis. I love my RAT 1 but I have also owned it since 2012.
What’s your thoughts on 15v steel?
How about the ZT0350?
WHY WON'T THEY MAKE THE RAT AS A FLIPPER?!?!?
MANIX XL the best Spyderco period
Hey Jerad, is there anywhere I can pick up a sticker or two from the channel? I've been on a weird sticker kick lately, and I only saw clothes at the merch stire
Imho, the Spideco one strikes me as jewelry, not in a good way
They come in different scales mine are aftermarket, they are tough work knives that come with great heat treatments usually
@@NeevesKnives okay, thank you, good to know. On second thought, I think I'm biased, because the style is highly recognizable and I happen to know several people who I don't like who have had one of these knives. 😅
I'll reconsider my perception
I like your food commercial. So many knife sites are running breast shaping commercials, aren’t most knife sites like 95% men demographic, so why the lame breast commercials? Doesn’t UA-cam target their commercials? Just saying.
lol no Swiss Army knifes.
Nkfans65
God damn stop screaming in the mic dude..
My bad
Glad to see the Buck 110 made the list. It was the first blade that i carried that i felt beat all my other knives in terms of reliability. Traditional knives just work, and they do it well.
Even now it has some of the best ergos in history!
"Who doesn't love the Spyderco Delica..."
Me. I have always hated those little cheap looking plastic handled fugly knives. They should call it the Spyderco Femica.
I always did as well, until actually carrying and using one, and if you can put aftermarket scales it completely changes the knife
SAK, Buck 110/112, Gerber Gatorskin, Spyderco Para, Leatherman, Kabar Dozier, Opinel, Ken Onion Leek, Benchmade 940, Sebenza .. and nothing has changed in the field but time will tell.
I tried getting the Leek from ebay but USA customs will never let it go through into my country. E stores in my country only have China made Leeks aka replica, its pretty bad. I know because I have one. I didn't intentionally buy it, but I got scammed. The seller said it was original and returning it took so much hassle i just didn't care to do it. The spring snapped on the 3rd day fidgeting with it.
I've had the carbon fiber Leek for yrs.
A lucky 🗡 it has been stolen twice, next time it stays ( inbedded in a eye socket)
The leek was my first knife. I’ve had like 5 of them over the years and I just recently switched over to a mini bugout. It’s a great knife but I’ve moved on lol.
I love Wharncliffe blades. So, the Yojimbo should be an icon knife. They are self-defense knives (and they are), but they slice perfectly and cut "right down the line" to the front of the point. Wharncliffes are more than self-defense knives.
Yojimbo is my favorite Spyderco. Yes belly is useful here and there for sure, but for the most part a good wharncliffe kicks butt for most general EDC uses and the tip and straight edge yields some advantages. Extra easy to maintain the edge too.
Definitely my favorite shape!
I get jealous every time I see that shipwreck delica handle, absolutely beautiful with the black hardware and blade
I have 4 Praxis knives. Hands down my favorite pocket knife ever made!
Throwing in my 2 cents: Cold Steel American Lawman, Civivi Elementum (all versions), CRKT Minimalist, Cold Steel Code 4, and flip a coin for CJRB Centros/Feldspar. Finally, if Iconic is the theme, then the entire Cold Steel Tanto series including the Mini Tanto 4" (discontinued in 2000) where the Western Tanto was born, and often overlooked but consistently used, the many Swiss Army models.
Kershaw leek was my first real edc. That i "borrowed" from my uncle. 🤣 loved that thing.
Delica was the first real knife I bought myself. ❤️ spydies vg10 gets scary sharp. Scary fast.
Kara that steak flop was hilarious. Glad you kept that in there. Jeard's face. 🤣 yall are too much.
I do a damn good steak flop everytime I eat steak lol
That exact kershaw leek bought at Dick's sporting goods about 8 years ago (my only edc for about 2) is what got me into collecting hardcore. although I've had pocket knives for 30 plus years (Case, Swiss army, SOG, Scharade, Buck, Gerber ect...) there was just something about it that felt quality and I did like the assist as well starting out until I got spoiled on better options later on. 😂 Plus it's USA made using the best budget still in my opinion it's really a phenomenal deal when you compare it to other options 🔥 I have two of them my original first one was lost and I bought a black one just like it to replace it, I carried that one for another couple years and then lost it as well. So then I started looking on Amazon for a replacement & got a red handle black bladed Leek (of course I found the black one a week after I got the new one) but that's what really got me looking on Amazon and I saw the Civivi s and ended up getting the elementum. Then I somehow ended up on Blade HQ and it's just been a 🐇🕳️ ever since 😭😂✌🏻
You are right on with your list. Also Esee's guarantee proves they all could do it if they want. Atleast most companies. Might have something to do with it being an AL company
I have 3 buck 110. Even have my grandfathers that he used for half his life. I will always have a 110 in the collection!
Buck ranger was nice too, just one step down from the 110, same look👍 actually bought one for my father 30 yrs ago, now I have it🙏
I've got an AD10 and love it but it's so heavy. Bought the pro lite and have been carrying it a lot. Big strong knife and lite. I used to hate the para 3s and 2s look till I got one and you're right. I love it. The delica too
I
Opened my endura and laughed. Mickey Mouse knife. Gv it to my daughter. Yes, i keeps her knife box in my room. Jeeez
Out beat???
Can't remember the number but have the ZT same as Hinderer you showed and I love it. Smooth as butter and stays sharp
Also case sod buster. Been around and one of the most popular knives for everyday use guys thru 80s and 90s especially
I would've picked the Blur over the Leek. I like the Leek, but I'm not a big fan of how thin the tip is and the slide safety. My wife loves hers though.
I can understand but to be far when I first got into the knife game the only kershaw I could recognize was the Leek. Few years later I discovered people carrying the Cryo but the leek was definitely more prominent... at least in my area at that time. To be honest my area is probably not the best example though being a farming community you were more likely to find a cheap no name knife, Buck 110 or a leatherman in pocket or on the hip in a pouch.
The Leek is more well known by non knife people and knife people alike.
Without watching yet id say the most iconic knives would be the buck 119, buck 110, kabar usmc utility knife, swiss army knife, leatherman, and any bowie rambo style lol
Hello thank's for all your vidéos. Y like. .very complete....please sorry for my english..what is the bottom on the pm3 ? Where can y find this...? Thank's
I have the same Mini Socom (M-SOCOM-A, 300149), but in satin serrated. New in box! Made 8/99
Awesome list of knives man. Need me a Deka and a praxis. And a griptilian
Poor Ontario...
Benchmade has become the master of giving you “more for less”...D’oh...I got that backwards!
There are so many iconic knives that I've seen through the years but I got to amit back in the day and even to today the Buck 110 was the most recognized and iconic folder ever everywhere. similar to what a Bowie is in fixed blade terms at least in North America. In other countries it may be Opinel or Mora for example in Europe, or the Gurkha kukri in Nepal, Or the Canadian belt knife from Grohmann in Canada. All knives that have had a lasting impression in their areas and are still made to this day. So many others could be added to this list but you have definatly touched on some awesome ones. Thanks for the great vid Jerad and keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
I would imagine what will become “iconic” will be limited to a few. Maybe one per few manufacturers of mass scale. Much like the Ford Model T or the VW Bug...
i like buck, but it would be nice if they made the 110, 112, 501, and 55 out of better metals. like titanium. not fond of the smell of pennies after using those knives.
even the nickel and nickel silver versions have a odd smell after use.
Pretty ropey quick made video. Told us nothing , sort of made to get the promoter on screen and that was cringe. Don't give up the day jobs.
Spyderco Delica was the knife that got me into quality knives. I'm on my 2nd or 3rd Buck 110, but they always suffered from the drawback of no clip and their weight, so they weren't a gateway for me. One of the 110s I found on one of the busiest streets in Las Vegas. It looks "well used", but works great. I've had a couple SAKs, but they never really struck me as "knives", so they didna do it. Thus far on your list, I've got the Delica, Griptilian & MiniGrip, a couple of Moras, Buck 110. Looking to add a RAT or 2. I think that the ESEE Izula MIGHT qualify for your list, methinks it's probably THE iconic knife in it's category.
The first knife i ever got that got me into knives over 10 years ago was the all black kershaw leek. Picked it up at a local hardware store and i was hooked after that
Kershaw has an excellent parts replacement policy. You can easily restore your leek to full functionality.
CRK overpriced, and overrated. And Chris is not even involved with the company and hasn’t been for many many years.
Gave a lot of these knives away to inspire others to collect, now I am recollecting, go figure.
So I was gonna buy a socom elite until I got it in hand. See I believe it would be great for a hard use tactical looking knife, but not the perfect tactical knife. I felt like the handle shape was too tapered at the butt meaning you would have to really grip hard on the knife to hold on during an altercation and the traction on the grip was rather slippery. I realize they designed it this way so when you hold in Sabre grip you can point the tip forward and slash better. That being said I believe this comes at a cost of not stabbing as well as it would be harder to pull out.
9.5/10. I had to deduct half a point for no Boker Mermaid. Glad to see the Buck 110 as #1.
OKC had some good stuff , BUT most are now different steel or made in china , instead of taiwan , so Yes the old stuff rocked , new stuff , Opps No .
Its a shame but thats how it is .
I just recommended the Leek to a guy looking for a tough work knife. It’s got 14c28N steel which is super tough and stainless and it can take a beating. It also fits the under 3 knife laws he wanted!
On the handle scales on that paramilitary 2 am I the only one who sees a long haired bearded man with his arm out in front of him 😂 and I think I see Hitler as well. Sorry for that one but I can't unsee it now.😂
If I remember right, the Bugout and Shaman both came out in 2017 and I also I feel like the Para 3 was right before that. Lastly I’m on the same page with you as far as the Manix being more iconic than the Shaman. Solid list!
My 1st real knife, Buck 110 ...Still have it after 50 yrs. (1974)! This knife actually started my knife journey a couple yrs ago.
So glad you put the Manix 2 on this. For a second you had me scared. 🤣
I was very late to the game on the 940. I am not crazy about it's aesthetics and how narrow the blade is. I avoided her for years. But when I finally got one, maybe a year a go, wow, I was impressed.
I got a rat 1 and 2. I mean there cheap but they suck. Civivi is way better choice for cheap beaters
I think a lot of the choices are pretty good but disappointed that the crkt m16 did not make it i have an o1ks that has taken a beating and when anyone ever mentions iconic knives I hear alot about that one.
The leek was the knife that started it all for me.
I think the Doug Ritter rsk mk1 should be on here too. But then again it’s not been around for as long as some of these other fine choices
Kara deaturing the Drop Bear! 🙌🙌🙌🙌
Aaaaaand is there a reason you didn't use a rockstead and or an array of fancy pocket knives for the sponsors food prep ?
Wow, forgot how much I want a Socom. 🤣 What a blade!
Your gonna spend $270 to make a Bugout your own easy.
you guys are wonderful. great content as always
Can't wait for the Praxis mini! Already in production too so we should be seeing them hopefully in the coming months.
They shd make it TI/S35, with a thumb fuller opener. I hv org/gold n son has purp/ Damas. Well built. Mini?, nope. More for you
Well said about benchmade’ prices
I like the kershaw chill better. But I won't buy kershaw again until they throw in some s35vn steel etc.
I'd be happy to see more 14c28n
Hello Fresh is actually Awsome.
The Leak IS the best ECD knife.
I have one I love it thanks for the video !
What happened to the Spartan SHF.
the one I'm wantn so much is the Rift
Light bulb..!!! Parhaps Kara would like to have a Cooking Show.? Beware Jared...there's competition coming your way...!!! Cheers Love you both mate. Warm greetings from Australia.
I like old Ken oinion he has done some nice mostly still jobs but I got one of them in before they changed the law on flippers, ohh so many that’s it. Need my fecking dribble bib Have a beautiful day J&k Stay safe and healthy both 😘👍🏴🫡
I have several of these on the list. I have a QSP Nokomis(a better Leek homage, IMO) Love my Manix 2 Lite, PM 3 and Pacific Salt. Cold Steel SR1, AK47, Recon 1 and Code4.
I loved the video 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 pretty much got everything on that list except for the Strider, Chris Reeves and the Buck 110. I do have a blinged out Chinese Buck from back in the day that my grandfather owned so it's got sentimental value.
I've always wanted a leek but never wanted to buy it. I'd I get one though I'll prolly get a cpm154 version. Prolly the cf version
Why do I absolutely hate that Kershaw knife?
Possibly jealous because its so cool 😆 🤣 jk
loving these videos
Love bugoutbart 😍
