I appreciate you keeping that bit in about the redfish and the recap after. Always sad to see but a great learning experience for us amateur anglers (me). Thanks for being real!
I would have tried to do something also. Very deep I might have just cut the excess and left the hook but you were on the right page and made an effort. I enjoy your videos and I’m looking forward to your new boat too. I’ve only ever had new to me boats……Tim
Ive watched probably every single video youve put out for the last 3 or so years that ive been watching youtube fishing videos and just learned today that i wasnt even subscribed to you. Not sure how i never missed a video as soon as it dropped but i am subscribed now. Pretty pumped to see some videos in the new boat.
Hey it’s happens brother. Usually if the hook is to deep I just cut the line as close as possible especially if the fish is still eating, the hook will rust out. It’s happen to every fisherman though and you still did the right thing. Thanks for leaving that part in
Justin, never fail to impress with great vids in many conditions. I like how you describe your thought process for catching the different species. Stay at it, can’t wait to see you on the new skiff, definitely will expand your options. Keep Them Rods Bent!😎
i was washing cars one day last summer and ended washing the owner of NLBNS car he his my neighbor and he was really nice and gave me some nlbns he his a really nice guy. Love your videos man
Love your videos! On the red you did the correct thing by removing the hook , but when he hit the bottom of the boat I think that's the blow that did him in unfortunately. Maybe if you removed it over the water then he would have a better chance. Keep it up. ... Blessings
Naw. You did the right thing. I would have tried, too. I guarantee it was the water temp plus the added stress of getting caught and the other hook removal. Maybe next time under the same conditions you just cut the leader. We can all learn from this too. Thanks for the awesome content.
Great video as always! Congratulations on the new boat almost being ready! Either way with the red, you tried to help him. It’s easy to second guess afterwards. If you just cut the line and let him go, then you would be wondering if you should have removed the hook……
Same. I just got my first gheenoe. Been fishing mosquito lagoon. Never fished the banana river, but I plan on checking it out soon. Hoping for better water quality.
Yeah I would have done the same I probably would have cut the leader though IF the hook was really deep but hey man your a true fisherman you obey the regs and try to preserve the wildlife you did your best👍
Use a good thin dehooker for that situation. Swim the fish by the mouth next to the boat with the trolling motor for about 30 yards. It'll revive the fish enough that it will live. I would've done the same thing you did in the situation.
Quick question, where do you do most of your fishing? I do most of my fishing in the Indian river and as far as I know, it is illegal to harvest reds year round.
that was a piece of the gullet of the fish on the hook if you even nick their gullet or gills they die you thought you were doing the right thing but fish can live with hooks have to leave the hook where it is they build up hard tisure around the hook and keep on living
Ugly Stik 6'6 Elite, Penn Battle II 4000 with 12# Power Pro for Reds, Snook, Mackerel, Kingfish, Trout, and Jacks. Tampa Bay and Pinellas County waters 😊 Heck no, that was definitely the right thing to do. I don't know if he could eat with that stuffed in his mouth. I'm a live bait fisherman and would have tried to feed him a few. Sad to see it not take off. Hopefully he did recover 🙏
Nice video dude tried that dock fishing yesterday That’s some awesome fishing. question that trolling motor you have. That’s a transom trolling motor ? can it be converted?
What I would have done would be throw the red in the live well right after the fight let the pump run give him 15 to 20 min to rest in the live well then quickly remove the broken off rig and then he may have had a chance but dog days of summer are tough on them!
Mortality risk is greater when you rip the hook out of their gullet. Just cut it close. It’s far from ideal, but I’ve caught plenty of reds with hooks cut off like that. I don’t think the hot water or time handling skilled it. If it did, it would’ve not been instant.
Your tried to do better and it didn't work out lol. Can't blame yourself. Don't know if it would have made a different but maybe being where it was, cut the line let it go.
I doubt it was the water temp that didnt allow that fish to revive, he just came out of that water. Im sure that drop on his head when you unhooked him was the main issue lol
I always cut the line as close to the hook as possible if hooked in the throat especially with the total ban on redfish in the greater Indian river lagoon. That complete ban is a whole other topic. It was not supported by the majority of people who are and have been on these waters regularly for years and want to see the redfish and trout thrive. A 1 fish per boat limit in a 18-24 inch slot limit would not hurt a thing. This total ban puts additional strain on the seatrout population as those hunting a meal will target seatrout more specifically and in their Quest to get a slot trout will release multiple trout which do not handle catch and release nearly as well as redfish do. If the government cared and wanted faster easier enforcement a single rule of 4 fish max not to exceed 10 LBS total weight, Or any single fish not to exceed 15 LBS regardless of species In the saltwater inshore areas would provide a decent meal for those fishing for one. This would also make enforcement time fast and easy allowing FWC officers to check an angler in under 5 min in most cases with a single basket and scale. Not everyone follows the law so the ability to do more checks in a day would greatly improve the eco system as anglers who would break the law would know their chances of being checked are much higher. Most IRL fisherman rarely catch a fish between 10-15 LBS and many or those who do will catch and release unless foul hooked. The majority of Anglers catching fish to eat would be in the 4 fish max under 10 LBS total weight category reducing fish mortality from catch and release by those actually just fishing for a meal. If the rules were this simple everyone would understand them and just need a scale on the boat or if they didn't have one lean on the side of caution on the weight. This would have made that redfish you caught not a waste but a healthy organic as it gets meal.
My general rule of thumb if the hook isn’t in an obvious place to get out, to cut the leader as beat as can and let it go. No blame on you for the attempt though
😎ALL RIGHT PEOPLE, 3300+ views and we need to get this man up the line. If you like watching snook, tarpon, red fishing, Justin is probably one of the best in his area. Very informative in his content on what, how, when and where to catch. SUBSCRIBE EVERYONE 🇺🇸
You should have left that hook in his mouth. Cut the leader as close to his mouth And release. You had that fish out of water way to long as well. The hook would have rusted out on its own. Lesson learned. Don't do it again especially in summer
no hate but the redfish was probably already stressed from being caught and looked like you shook him pretty hard so you could have just shoot him a certain way a messed something up on his insides
Cut the leader close to hook…release…he ate your NLBN so clearly it wasn’t affecting his appetite…sounds like it was in his gut…unfortunate but I’m sure something will get a meal from him…

realistically any true fisherman will remove hook if they could. Happens to the best of us, great video J!
I would have tried to do something also. Very deep I might have just cut the excess and left the hook but you were on the right page and made an effort. I enjoy your videos and I’m looking forward to your new boat too. I’ve only ever had new to me boats……Tim

Nice Work On The Murder Mullet!
Thanks for teaching me how to catch tarpon! I got my first one today!
Good job i havnt caught one yet

Congratulations on the new boat, have not been able to get out on my little 15 flats boat in a while. Love your videos

Dope!!! I’m a fan of great drone intros! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
I think you did the right thing by trying to help out the little guy.
Part of fishing sometimes with that little red. Ultimately, just give it your best to revive it and you did. Great vid man!
It does get super hot, I work outside for a living but I can fish all day in the sun. No fun being completely covered in sweat and hot as balls in FL
Great video Justin

Florida is the snook state 😝 i love it
Nice fish man

I love watching you Justin and I fish the same waters as you
Space coast
Same. I just got my first gheenoe. Been fishing mosquito lagoon. Never fished the banana river, but I plan on checking it out soon. Hoping for better water quality.
@@jwilson2536better water quality?? Where are you fishing in the lagoon man? Everywhere ive bounced around in there has been super clear.
Yes
Today was Move in day, we got a house in Palm Bay and I'm so glad to finally be in this area!!!!!!!!
And I have to know..
When are we going fishing?
I work in Palm Bay. Check out Turkey Creek, good fishing.
Yeah I would have done the same I probably would have cut the leader though IF the hook was really deep but hey man your a true fisherman you obey the regs and try to preserve the wildlife you did your best👍

General rule I follow for artificial bait colors, light on light days, dark on dark days.
Which will catch more tarpon bro the nlbn lure or the doa terroreyz
10:52 just fished that area this past weekend. When it's on it's on....didn't do so well on my trip tho. Excited to see the new boat!
Sweet vid man
I think you did the right thing
Quick question, where do you do most of your fishing? I do most of my fishing in the Indian river and as far as I know, it is illegal to harvest reds year round.
Can you do a video of your gear please, your rods, reels and what you reccomend what for ! Thanks legend, support from 🇿🇦
4:00 you can see a stingray
that was a piece of the gullet of the fish on the hook if you even nick their gullet or gills they die you thought you were doing the right thing but fish can live with hooks have to leave the hook where it is they build up hard tisure around the hook and keep on living
Is that Solomons bridge?
are you running a 24 volt troll motor on the new boat? or a 36?

Hey! What knot do you tie on for your leader to hook?
Geezus these bots are out of control! I just reported 6 of them and then 2 new ones popped up
yes should ofleft it in there
What size gheenoe is that?
You tried to do the right thing. Unfortunately the hook must’ve been close to arteries under gills. It happens and a dolphin will love you for it!
Nice video dude tried that dock fishing yesterday That’s some awesome fishing. question that trolling motor you have. That’s a transom trolling motor ? can it be converted?
You remove a nut and bolt from the head and rotate the head 180 degrees. Put the nut and bolt back in.
everytime i try to fish docks with nlbn I always lose 100$ in lures😭😭
Oh my gosh, you not joking. 💰right down the drain 😂
Great video Justin! So was that dock in the thumbnail Joyce’s dock? ;)
Nice vid. What brand of face gaitor are you wearing? Thanks
Buff
Where you fishin at? Looks awesome

i've never seen a bait fish get spooked by a cast and hammered by a snook either brother.
What river is this? West coast? East coast?
You did the right thing buddy. .shit happens..👍
Yeah, best to just cut the line, we've all been there though. 👍
🔥🔥
Don't beat yourself up over it. Admit it or not, that's what most of us would have done.
crabs gotta get to brother.
what spot is this 😊

you did the right thing removing the hook and leader.

What happened to your tarpon boatworks boat????
That was just a short term partnership. The boat was returned to the company 2.5 years ago.
What color is that ?
What part of florida
I would have cut the leader line
Once’s the water very hot your don’t see very much fish they be in deeper waters
Indian river?
My general rule of thumb if the hook isn’t in an obvious place to get out, to cut the leader as beat as can and let it go. No blame on you for the attempt though

hit me up on the price of that boat you going to get because I am looking into the Ghenoe LT25 trying to see if I can get more for my money :)
Shit happens you did the right thing
Why did it take 6 months??????
Is it actually your boat this time or another sponsor deal and it’ll disappear again?
This is my boat.
you did the right thing, its sad he didn't make it, it should be illegal to use hooks that don't dissolve in salt water, just my opinion
Do you think van stalls are worth it
My cousin say he know the founder of nlbn
only people that don't know how to fish use swivels inshore with live or cut bait brother. you know that.
My cousin says he know the founder of nlbn
It was a judgement call so don't beat yourself up over it. The fact that you care is enough so learn from it for next time.
You should have left that hook in his mouth. Cut the leader as close to his mouth And release. You had that fish out of water way to long as well. The hook would have rusted out on its own.

Did all you could on that red. Can’t win sometimes 🤷🏽♂️
no hate but the redfish was probably already stressed from being caught and looked like you shook him pretty hard so you could have just shoot him a certain way a messed something up on his insides

Just cut the line
