Water [half in volume]
Sandpaper 600, 1000 grit
Aluminium foil
Toothbrush
Polymer Clay [300 grams]
Printed eyes
Transparent adhesive tape
Disposable spoon
Epoxy resin
Vaseline
Viridian acrylic paint
Burnt umber acrylic paint
Brush
Sianna powder pigment
Burnt umber powder pigment
Black powder pigment

Although its a nice video, and the detail on the hatchling is pretty good, as said in early comment, moisture is missing from egg, these are reptiles and they are coated in protein. As well, the head is HUGE for that egg, it does not match at all. But I like the artwork, its very nice.

Karen Joyce Make them thick! I had to use a lot of mix to help keep them from cracking. It’s an arm work out for sure. The ones that broke, I still kept and just scattered them around the party. I sprinkled the broken pieces around the egg. If they don’t break too much, use some of the mix to patch it back up.

It is his imagination and its head can be any size he wants, I dont recall any dinosaur experts around today only paleontologist and they are mostly guessing!!
Karen windspirit they’re not really guessing see there are things called fossils and some fossils include skulls which is under your skin shielding your brain and when paleontologist look at a skull they know what size the head is.....

Palaeontologists are not guessing. Extant (living) animals that hatch from eggs give an indication of the proportions of an animal inside an extinct animal egg. Regardless of that fact, this entire piece of work is ruined by the massive head. It ruins the effect and just makes it look very very amateurish.

Wow! Very detailed and labor-intensive. What dinosaur/dragon lover of any age would not want one of these? I’m sure he’s aware of the scale. He’d have to make a huge egg to contain an entire dragon and who has room for that? Fantastic job!

I wanted to try to make eggs like this after I saw the Buzzfeed equivalent video, but they clearly misrepresent their material used as "quick set concrete" even though it definitely looks like plaster of paris, and their comments reflect that concrete is very much the wrong thing to use. Your video is a much clearer demonstration of how to do this and emboldens me to go ahead with my project after all!
Use cement, not concrete. Concrete is cement + aggregate (sand, stones). Cement alone with water, gives the smooth finish.

verry cool but you may think about the proportions ;) the head is too big in combination with the size of the egg the head has to be smaller . with this head the egg must be as big as a small car lol ,....... but however ... verry cool ;)

I've been trying to coat a balloon for 2 days. I've rolled the plaster for 2 hours and it still is not set? I dont get it. Going to try concrete next.
