2008 UA-cam got to the point where you could search "Gaara vs Rock Lee Linkin Park" and there were literally too many results to display. After page 20 (UA-cam had "pages" back then, like Google) an error message would come up telling you to narrow your search. Keep in mind each page had about 20 results. That means there were 400 AMVs of the same footage and song, just cut slightly differently by different users. There were probably over a thousand for In The End alone.

I remember the entirety of the chunin exams, and was during a period of time when the writing was building the narutoverse we were learning about instead of sustaining the one we now know. A lot of what I can recall with Naruto all the way through the conclusion of the 4th great ninja war is fragmented at best. The chunin exams is a different story, and my memories of this arc are far more vivid.
It doesn't matter how many times I've seen it, in what format I watch it, a small part of me always hopes that THIS time Lee will somehow pull out the win. Favorite fight of the series, it's a shame Lee is never really utilized again. Great work, btw.
Saved both main characters lives after taking the L after this fight. Helped separate madara and obitos connection to jyuubi and saved might guys life by throwing the most perfectly timed teleport Kunai right in front of guy so he could actually hit madara. Without lee they died before Naruto could use talk no jutsu on obito. He got put on the back burner while the MCs laid out the story of the 4thGNW. When they really needed him they REALLY needed him.
This animation was beyond amazing. The smoothness of Lee’s attacks against Gaara, especially in Lee’s 5th gate form were outstanding. This animation was incredibly epic and I also recommend Naruto vs pain.
Lee lost because the writer wanted to make Gaara look strong as a threat for Naruto and Saskue to overcome. So they basically trashed Lee for the sake of plot. If plot weren't a factor he should've killed Gaara going into his gates.
I don’t really think anyone stood a chance against lee. But I also agree that he would have dumpstered anyone who wasn’t gaara. Gaara would have probably easily most of the contestants
What's super cool is that instead of the show's slow motion with dialogue, this is closer to what we would actually see if we were really there. My dad was so happy and nostalgic when I showed this video to him
not really, I wished for the first kick when lee opened the gates to be similar to the one used for the primary lotus bus stronger. Something about that pose and an uppercut kick is oddly satisfying
mostly. i mean at the beginning of the fight Garaa shot the seal of his gourd at Lee wasnt captured here. that scene to me sort of set the tone of the fight.. still, its a great animation.
This is nothing short of spectacular. You've really stepped it up. First of the flow of Lee and Gaara's sand was fantastic and the speed was another great asset. You really communicated how fast Lee got after he took off his weights. The music that you used after Lee opened the Gate of Closing (The Fifth Gate) really added to the mood of the fight! This is another inspiring work of yours.

One of the most epic fights in anime history, I honestly have respect for lee he is truly inspirational. It was so well written I got goosebumps everytime I remember, the author overdid it and I'm thankful for that.

It's crazy to see a show Ive been watching since mid 2000s STILL be relevant enough to have youtube videos about it. I didn't just watch naruto, I grew up with naruto. AND IT FEELS LIKE ITS PART OF POP CULTURE and daily life from time to time. It never seems to go away into the museum of anime. it's still fresh in peoples minds. Crazy.

I love how this exists, I remember waaaay back In 2005-2006, seeing their fight for the first time, then looking it up on UA-cam to find it and finding this video with a techno song it, i rewatched it so many times to relive that feeling…and now finding this I get to relive that feeling I felt over 15yrs ago
That’s not how most animation works, they do have to do a lot of frame control but overall, you interpolate between frames. So the computer does the transitions between two key frames

You can get really fancy and use motion tracking suits that record animations or buy pre-developed animations, or you can put in the hard labor and do everything yourself. For a video like this, I'd assume they drew many/most of the frames. Very impressive and time consuming, nonetheless.
I used to be somewhat of an animator myself when I was much younger. I maybe did it for a few years and got to the level I could make half decent fight animation which was the most difficult. All the layers you must use is incredibly impressive. All the effects are so well done. I know animating that sand moving with all the shading must have been a big pain. So impressive. You could probably get a job as an animator at some big company. Keep it up man. It looks like you're passionate about it.
After 15 years I still think this is the best fight in the series, and that Rock Lee actually won. If Gaara won it was only due to plot armor and gifted power, Lee's the true genius here!!!!!!

Honestly a great highlight of what makes a good fight. Not saying that total stomps aren't entertaining to watch, because let's be real, we all love seeing the MC occasionally get the chance to ruthlessly stomp their competition into the dirt. But such a tight back and forth like this, keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Watching this in more real time and no dialogue made me realize how almost hopeless Lee's victory was....goes to show that at least at the peak of naruto there was some good writing, I used to think Lee had a shot at winning then I see Garaa throw a house sized wave of sand at him and I'm like dam he had no shot

I think it's great because you can actually see what's happening as opposed to jump cuts, cut scenes, blinding fast and intricate movements.

Dude... The sense of speed in this animation is out of this world!! In the anime fast things often times are slowed down, in this animation you kind of get a better notion of the speed in which things happen, great job!

I love how this exists, I remember waaaay back In 2005-2006, seeing their fight for the first time, then looking it up on UA-cam to find it and finding this video with a techno song it, i rewatched it so many times to relive that feeling…and now finding this I get to relive that feeling I felt over 15yrs ago

Oh my god, That was extremely good. The amount of frames. Did you draw every single frame by hand?
That’s not how most animation works, they do have to do a lot of frame control but overall, you interpolate between frames. So the computer does the transitions between two key frames

@@momoreview5555 Yea, it boils down to style and budget. You can get really fancy and use motion tracking suits that record animations or buy pre-developed animations, or you can put in the hard labor and do everything yourself. For a video like this, I'd assume they drew many/most of the frames. Very impressive and time consuming, nonetheless.

I used to be somewhat of an animator myself when I was much younger. I maybe did it for a few years and got to the level I could make half decent fight animation which was the most difficult.
All the layers you must use is incredibly impressive. All the effects are so well done. I know animating that sand moving with all the shading must have been a big pain. So impressive. You could probably get a job as an animator at some big company. Keep it up man. It looks like you're passionate about it.

Wow....watching this from an outside perspective reallee taught me how much Gaara just stood there.
After 15 years I still think this is the best fight in the series, and that Rock Lee actually won. If Gaara won it was only due to plot armor and gifted power, Lee's the true genius here!!!!!!
Oh please shut up i love lee as well for his hard work but Gara was the word person he faces in the exams his physical attackes cant do nothing against him if he faced someone else like let say the sound ninja guy he wouldev Won easily
But Gara sand guard was his natural enemy he cant defeat it

Honestly a great highlight of what makes a good fight.
Not saying that total stomps aren't entertaining to watch, because let's be real, we all love seeing the MC occasionally get the chance to ruthlessly stomp their competition into the dirt. But such a tight back and forth like this, keeps you on the edge of your seat.

アニメ本編でやっていた我愛羅VSロックリー戦の状況を棒人間で再現したというわけか。おそらく実際の対戦時間がこの数分間なんだろうな。解説や煽りなど外野が挟まったら1，2話分と長い時間が経過するということか。ともかく見事な再現度だった。懐かしかった。
Watching this in more real time and no dialogue made me realize how almost hopeless Lee's victory was....goes to show that at least at the peak of naruto there was some good writing, I used to think Lee had a shot at winning then I see Garaa throw a house sized wave of sand at him and I'm like dam he had no shot
