  • My last day in Europe and I am roaming around in beautiful city of France, the fashion capital of the world, Paris and I start my journey with visit to the iconic and historic Eiffel Tower in Champ De Mars, I visit Notre Dame, Love lock bridge, Louvre Museum, Palais De Chaillot, River Seine Cruise.
A 1 hour river cruise starts at around 15 euros.
I take a metro to notre dame.
The Eiffel Tower - or, la Tour Eiffel - has long been one of the world's most recognizable landmarks, symbolizing the romance and ingenuity.
Built for the 1889 World's Fair in Paris.
The Eiffel Tower is a wrought-iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower from 1887 to 1889.
You likely already know Paris’ Pont des Arts by a different name-the love lock bridge, which is famous for the tradition of lovers writing their names on a lock, attaching it to the bridge, and throwing the key in the Seine River.
Pont des Arts was called Love Lock Bridge for a reason. There was a long-standing tradition of lovers visiting the bridge and placing a padlock on the fencing. People took this as a sweet gesture of locking their love for one another. Cute.
But, as we like to say, all good things must come to an end, this too came to an end. Back in 2015, the weight of thousands of metal locks took a toll on the iconic bridge. Thus came down a section of the bridge with all those padlocks, still…locked.
While Pont des Arts is definitely the most famous love-lock bridge, did you know it’s not the original love-lock bridge? The tradition didn’t start in Paris or even France. So, where did the love lock tradition come from, and can you still put your own love lock on Pont des Arts in Paris?
In case you were wondering what happened to the keys, River Seine has them all.
It’s illegal to add locks to the bridge today. So, we don’t recommend you do this yourself. However, it’s always good to know the story behind local traditions when you visit an iconic place like Pont des Arts.
