Rich history. We will have a functional 1922 F Series Fordson on display and in the parades. It was purchased in the late 1990s by Inman Heritage Farm Days participant Charles L. Beck and revived in 2022 by Larry Peterson, Mark Windham (Beck’s nephew) with help from Darryl Coleman and John Walls.
As a teenager I worked as an apprentice mechanic for a company that about 20 of those running and maybe the same in spare parts I can remember in off season this was a citrus company we could go to the huge inventory of old parts from transmission and differential house to engine blocks we would built entire tractors reconditioned heads new pistons liners and bearings we create a working tractor to replace anyone that came in for repairs sometimes we had 4 or 5 of them sitting in yard at the ready I even remember some the part numbers were almost always started with the letters dkn even after 40yrs
I guess I would fall into the “Love Relationship” category as I have three New Majors and one Ford 5000 Super Major. They are all in various stages of disrepair with only one being currently operational. If I ever find myself in Georgia during one of your events, I’ll certainly stop in. Bless’ns to ya, Tedd
Glad your appreciating the british built fordson. I have a 1962 super major hear in cornwall england. Like you say” they are bomb proof” and very popular over hear. Did fordson ever build any majors in USA? Don’t see very many on your videos!
Hello to Cornwall! We have never heard or heard mention of an American built Super major or Dexta. It seems all left Dagenham on a boat headed this way. Over here people have quite a love or hate relationship with them. I love this one as you can tell by my tone, but some don’t understand their quirks. Looks like Henry ford got fed up and started making the fordson standards in Ireland, then transferred it to Dagenham ( your pronunciation spot on) England. The major is popular over hear for doing charity Sunday road run, having good top gear speed. Well done for what you are doing at your museum, I will be following you with interest!! Sold a lot of fordson majors and power majors in the area of the USA I'm in. Ford dealers didn't push Super Majors here because of the US built Ford 6000 Commander. I'll take a Fordson Super Major over a 6000 Ford any day.Anyone in the USA who used a Major like them has been my experience. Most tractors at the time in the US were gas engines. Farmers like the diesel motor.
Thank you for your comment, think you have answered my question how majors where not so popular in USA. When grew up hear in England in the 60s majors where everywhere, very reliable hard working work horse and modern for the time. I was fascinated as a boy watch the fuel pump drive spinning around. I just had to have one🙂👍
@@Dave.w-ev9qn1962 The neighbors all had them when l was a kid in the early 60s. They were popular in the dairy area just right for family farm dairys. Plus it was priced far below US made diesel tractors. l'd liked to find a Fordson Power Major with the 2 stage clutch for live pto. I have a US made 860 Ford from 1955 that has the 2 Stage clutch would go good with a Power Major.
Hello! I was curious if anyone had any literature or diagrams for the starting electrical system? To narrow down I’m looking for wiring from dash switch>selinoid> starter (with manual push rod start)

Looks in better shape than our Power Major was. Great reliable unit that just keeps going.
