@Cadence Cassettes oh I didn't explain very well my bad, its not him literally street fighting, its like this series he did on how to fight in the streets, like bar fights etc, he demonstrates effective techniques in his unique way lol
I once met up with Robin as he was about to get in his car on the cold weekday morning following my March break trip in Toronto. My experience that weekend was a drunken bust, and I was rather disappointingly heading to the train station to head home, and I saw that distinct blue hair 🔵 from a good two or three hundred meters from me. So I booked it over like some dumb kid with my stupid duffle bag full of luggage and yelled "HEY ROBIN 😃🤗🥰🤪🤤". He stopped for me and we chatted over a few sentences. He obviously didn't have much to say but he humoured me all the same. He pointed in the direction of his studio where he works as an MMA analyst and eventually wished me a good day. I wish there was more to it but I suppose him handling my dumb stampeding @$$ with such coolness is a story in itself. Solid dude! I'm glad he's Canadian.
Then it would be too similar to Muay Thai. I think they don't want a buncha Muay Thaiers coming in and beating up Karatekas, that already happened too much in the 70s and 80s :)
One question, since you are using open gloves, almost like mma gloves but with thicker paddings, why not using kickboxing foot gears? This is NOT Muay Thai and you don't go for the roundhouse shin kick to the thighs, so you don't use shin guards. I mean how different is Karate Combat from Kickboxing? Technique wise.
Smaller gloves, calf kicks, sweeps and some throws are allowed and ground and pound for 5 sec, I mean, the smaller gloves, sweeps and throw plays a huge difference on how you defend kicks and punches, the only complain I have is the lack of low kicks to the thighs, I mean, is a little unfair with the kyokushin guys.
Insightful, the pit is a really interesting thing and I kinda like the ruleset, its kinda like shootfighting but without the grapling in the floor, they didnt mention that they can throw you to the ground judo style
