But naturally your striking force isn't as strong with one hand. If anything it's more than halved, since you can't but your body behind the blow. Also.. she's not holding the katana, she's drawing it. Never seen anyone draw their blade with both hands.. especially if the scabbard isn't mounted on ones hips.
Might I add, the thumb does not wrap or curl around the handle it is suppose to be in line with the handle as if one is giving a thumbs up. The purpose of this is to have maximum axial control over the edge's direction lengthwise and maintain that control. Without the thumb lengthwise with the handle when striking something with the blade the blade along with handle can and most likely will, rotate even within a tight grasp due to the momentary spike in large forces upon contact. So, ever wonder how a cut is maintained straight or softly curving through a material being sliced by a katana or wakazashi?
