Oh come on, don't bring your feminism to ruin this song. A man is at his best and most ideal when he has absolutely nothing to worry about coming from the one he loves, and a girl can only be that when she's nothing(in that eternal moment) but a woman who loves him. She cast aside everything just to follow and love him, to magnify and elevate that love with nothing weighing it down. Love is sacrifice, love is coming outside of yourself. Besides your logic doesn't work how can she be her captain and nothing individually talking about her own father like it's not her father? We're not supposed to be in love with ourselves. We can love ourselves but love is at it's truest when it breaks boundaries and laws and everything to join what used to be separate in a beautiful dance or symphony that justifies life and creates meaning in nothingness.
