    They were mirror images of each other, they learned the fundamentals of the game and played exactly the same way. They are close friends because they truly love each other for who they are as opposites, thats true bf soulmate material.

      @@dtaenodinero There's a great video that hardly anybody reacts to of Larry. It's on the channel called thinking basketball. He does series called Greatest peaks what makes Larry Bird a Goat. He shows some Great Larry plays that no one shows and breaks down Larry's strengths and weaknesses. I Appreciate it. Thank you

    Pete Maravich was astounding on the court, his scoring, passing and ball handling is the stuff of legend, but truth is by the time he played with Larry his knees were gone and he was set to retire the following year anyway. Crazy little known fact by younger people is what no one knew including Pete himself was he had a childhood heart defect that left him with only one heart ventricle instead of two, and not long after his retirement he dropped dead on the court while playing a pickup game with friends, somehow even his doctors missed the defect while he was still alive.

    Magic can't complain he didn't win rookie of the year. He was not the star of his team, a team that had Kareem, Norm Nixon, and Jamaal Wilkes. It would take time before the Lakers would be his team. Bird made the Celtics his team on day one.

    Pete Maravich was phenomenal, no question about it. Unfortunately, by the time he was with the Celtics, he wasn't the player he once was. He talked some smack to Bird, and Bird shut him down FAST. But make no mistake, Maravich was something else in his prime. Loved to watch him.

    The interesting thing about Magic Johnson and Larry Bird is that many tried to market their battles as "White against Black". Instead of fanning racism, neither player cared about the race of their opponent. Both players earned the respect of both blacks and whites, and in the end, their friendship transcended racism, bringing the league together, as well as increasing support for the NBA among all ethnic groups. Thus, in the end, it was the combination of their respect and friendship off the court, with their battles on the court, that formed the basis for the future survival and growth of the NBA. To this day, it's a great example for all of us. Respect the people around you, and look at them based on their accomplishments, not some other traits.

    Just imagine, for a moment. Larry and Earvin played on the same team twice. A college team before they reached their full potential and the Dream Team, at the ends of their careers. By then, Larry was a wreck. Magic had HIV. Still, on both teams, any time they took the court together it was incredible. Magical. Can you imagine if they had spent those 13 years on the same team? I see 12 titles. Remember, Larry missed almost a whole season with feet surgery. Their rivalry did pretty much save the NBA from obscurity and brought it to prime time. WTH, if you're gonna dream, dream big.

    Michigan was recruiting all top talent from around the country at the time, while the sycamores were not that talented, except Larry. They lucked out, really, because Larry wanted to play close to home. The same reason he joined the Pacers when he retired as a player.

    check out the greatest playoff series of all time. the '81 bird Celtics vs the Dr j 76ers. (birds best underdog story) 5 of the 7 games went down to the last shot, game 6 the philly fans started a fight with the celtic players during the game, game 7 nearly every single play by either team ended with 2 or 3 bodies on the floor. the refs just stepped back and said hell no I'm not getting in the middle of this, you guys decide, lol

    Frank, Bird would eat Pete Maravich for lunch. He was couched by his father in college. His father essentially spoiled Pet to be a one men show. Pete never belonged on the Celtics. The Celtics are the greatest in the NBA at having individual players playing specific roles. Pete Maravich is incapable of playing a role on the Celtics.

    • @dtaenodinero
      @dtaenodinero  Рік тому

      Well before Larry made it their they had to invest in someone and it sounds like Pete was that person. Honestly I believe Larry height advantage over most is why he dominated in the nba… unlike Pete playing the guard position he would get fouled and injured in the paint. Which probably lead to why the 3 point line was added. It’s getting carried away now

    • @stephenwhite5444
      @stephenwhite5444 11 місяців тому

      That's not really how it went down. LSU had a TERRIBLE team. The season prior to Pete playing they only won 6 games. Petes dad was hired to be head coach and turn the team around, and he brought his son with him. It does seem like Pete made all the points but that's how it ALWAYS looks when a team only has 1 good player.
      Pete really was THAT good.

      @@dtaenodinero actually, Pete joined the Celtics the same year as Larry Bird. At this point in his career, Pete was having knee problems. It's unfortunate his knees were so bad because him and Larry would have been a killer duo had his knees held up and if they would have got along.
