@@dtaenodinero There's a great video that hardly anybody reacts to of Larry. It's on the channel called thinking basketball. He does series called Greatest peaks what makes Larry Bird a Goat. He shows some Great Larry plays that no one shows and breaks down Larry's strengths and weaknesses. I Appreciate it. Thank you
Quote you “Sportsmanship, could’ve be envious, hater, jealous you described Mark Acquire, Bird beat DePaul before losing to Mich St., Acquire was on DePaul. He wouldn’t even play against Celtics, I bet some trash talk we’ll never hear is what Larry Legend put on Acquire.
Just want to add on more i saw team Magic picked against MJ, Magic picked Larry when they announced squads everyone but Acquire greeted Larry with high fives, you can see the stare down at Larry’s back as he goes bye. 😂
Larry bird made quite a few enemies but not more than the fans he made. Whoever that guy is could’ve just practiced more smh. Larry really got under his skin lol
Pete Maravich was astounding on the court, his scoring, passing and ball handling is the stuff of legend, but truth is by the time he played with Larry his knees were gone and he was set to retire the following year anyway. Crazy little known fact by younger people is what no one knew including Pete himself was he had a childhood heart defect that left him with only one heart ventricle instead of two, and not long after his retirement he dropped dead on the court while playing a pickup game with friends, somehow even his doctors missed the defect while he was still alive.
That’s so sad bro I’m glad I’ve learned about him, I’m finna do a video on him so I can learn more about him. Thanks for looping me in on a great basketball player 💙
Magic can't complain he didn't win rookie of the year. He was not the star of his team, a team that had Kareem, Norm Nixon, and Jamaal Wilkes. It would take time before the Lakers would be his team. Bird made the Celtics his team on day one.
I should do some reactions on Magic Johnson so I can have a better understanding who was on the lakers when he got drafted cause Larry did join an already losing team & changed the dynamics of it.
Pete Maravich was phenomenal, no question about it. Unfortunately, by the time he was with the Celtics, he wasn't the player he once was. He talked some smack to Bird, and Bird shut him down FAST. But make no mistake, Maravich was something else in his prime. Loved to watch him.
As a Larry Bird fan, I’m so disappointed to hear about this disgusting disrespect. I will NEVER see Larry Bird as I have all these years. I was a huge Pistol Pete fan as a kid. Larry Bird can kiss my ass.
Pistol Pete Maravich's father was Press Maravich a college and NBA coach and raised him to be a point guard. He played for his father at LSU and pretty much had a green light to score any time he could.
The interesting thing about Magic Johnson and Larry Bird is that many tried to market their battles as "White against Black". Instead of fanning racism, neither player cared about the race of their opponent. Both players earned the respect of both blacks and whites, and in the end, their friendship transcended racism, bringing the league together, as well as increasing support for the NBA among all ethnic groups. Thus, in the end, it was the combination of their respect and friendship off the court, with their battles on the court, that formed the basis for the future survival and growth of the NBA. To this day, it's a great example for all of us. Respect the people around you, and look at them based on their accomplishments, not some other traits.
I’ve reacted to all of The original creator of this video and doesn’t have that many, so I was saying I save his content because a lot of people like his narration. I got plenty 😂💚❤️🔥
Yes! he is the best all around NBA player of all time. He cam shoot from any distance, his passing is incredible, and if my life depended on it, I want to shoot the 25 footer.
Just imagine, for a moment. Larry and Earvin played on the same team twice. A college team before they reached their full potential and the Dream Team, at the ends of their careers. By then, Larry was a wreck. Magic had HIV. Still, on both teams, any time they took the court together it was incredible. Magical. Can you imagine if they had spent those 13 years on the same team? I see 12 titles. Remember, Larry missed almost a whole season with feet surgery. Their rivalry did pretty much save the NBA from obscurity and brought it to prime time. WTH, if you're gonna dream, dream big. What could have been.
Also I can’t believe you’ve never heard of Pistol Pete Maravich! You need to watch some of HIS videos too! Magic said he got a lot of his moves from Pete!
Larry Bird was double teamed and they had a zone for the rest of the guys. 2 - 1 or a 1 - 2 Zone Defense. And Larry Bird just had a Bad Day. Magic Johnson had a way better Team than Larry Bird.
PISTOL PETE WAS WAY AHEAD OF HIS TIME, HE WAS OFF THE CHARTS GREAT, I'M ACTUALLY SURPPRISED, BIRD WAS THAT DIRESPECTFUL WITH PETE, BUT HIM, AND MAJIC WAS THE RIVELRY OF A LIFETIME, THEY WERE GREAT TO WATCH, THEY UPPED EACH OTHERS GAME TO A LEVEL UNSEEN ON THE COURT, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH
Michigan was recruiting all top talent from around the country at the time, while the sycamores were not that talented, except Larry. They lucked out, really, because Larry wanted to play close to home. The same reason he joined the Pacers when he retired as a player.
golden age of basketball right there. I entered high school the same year bird and magic entered the nba, we watched it all go down live, incredible! check out the greatest playoff series of all time. the '81 bird Celtics vs the Dr j 76ers. (birds best underdog story) 5 of the 7 games went down to the last shot, game 6 the philly fans started a fight with the celtic players during the game, game 7 nearly every single play by either team ended with 2 or 3 bodies on the floor. the refs just stepped back and said hell no I'm not getting in the middle of this, you guys decide, lol
The guy who made this video needs to be taught a lesson, Bird studied Maravich as did Magic. Bird never said anything bad about s dead msn! Maravich passed away at 40.
Yo why so much disrespect? I’m going to do a video and show you guys how many people actually know who he is… he played and retired before I was born silly.. you think someone went and told me to go look him up or I did it on my own? Stop trolling
Man thats not fair..let the guy discover the greats at his own pace! I just appreciate the he is investigating players from other eras..Pete may take awhile
Frank, Bird would eat Pete Maravich for lunch. He was couched by his father in college. His father essentially spoiled Pet to be a one men show. Pete never belonged on the Celtics. The Celtics are the greatest in the NBA at having individual players playing specific roles. Pete Maravich is incapable of playing a role on the Celtics.
Well before Larry made it their they had to invest in someone and it sounds like Pete was that person. Honestly I believe Larry height advantage over most is why he dominated in the nba… unlike Pete playing the guard position he would get fouled and injured in the paint. Which probably lead to why the 3 point line was added. It’s getting carried away now
That's not really how it went down. LSU had a TERRIBLE team. The season prior to Pete playing they only won 6 games. Petes dad was hired to be head coach and turn the team around, and he brought his son with him. It does seem like Pete made all the points but that's how it ALWAYS looks when a team only has 1 good player. Pete really was THAT good.
@@dtaenodinero actually, Pete joined the Celtics the same year as Larry Bird. At this point in his career, Pete was having knee problems. It's unfortunate his knees were so bad because him and Larry would have been a killer duo had his knees held up and if they would have got along.

After watching him play I’d definitely agree, he underestimated Larry since he was a rookie but didn’t know the coach was on his side

Pete maravich is the All time Leading Points Scorer in College History. Averaging over 44 points per game and without a 3 point line.
Averaging 44 points College or not he was a point guard and back in the day basketball was way more physical, that’s tough 💪🏾
Nickname Pistol Pete

Larry averaged 30 points per game in college Pistol 44.2
pistol pete ran college ball for sure.
Yo!
Larry got all those pass moves from Pistol Pete. The Pistol started all those behind the back passes and thru legs 10 years before Larry
Larry use to play with older kids and adults as he was a kid and i'm sure that's where he picked up his creativeness as a player.
This rookie season was said before Magic and bird became close friends
Don't get it twisted - Pistol Pete was a beast and waaay ahead of his time.
He reminds me of And1 players before they came out with that was doing the behind the back dribble before Jordan to

Just from watching them on the dream team I can tell they would’ve barely lost any games probably wouldn’t had lost at all.
😊

Know this, in the championship game Bird had two broken fingers on his shooting hand. That's why at Boston he fine tune his left hand play.
He was really versatile being able to switch up his shooting had and still carry his team to a win 💚

I couldn't agree none less, if there was a 3-point line when he played in college, he would've probably averaged 40 to 50 points easily.

Pistol retired due to knee injuries not Larry.
I didn't know at the time and thanks for clearing that up
I would want Bird...(typo)
Sorry Larry but you or no-one else can wear Pete Maravich jock strap simple as that!
😂😂😂
Dtae, if Pistol Pete had 3 pointes when at LSU his average would be about 70 a Game. No Joking.
Sheesh l, he definitely was a walking bucket. He had to score 10 times each quarter and that’s a lot lol
