$50 a year for n64 is very expensive considering that there are only about 20 really great games on that system, here in japan you can get all the great n64 games for around $50 and still have money left for some loose snes titles. $20 a year i guess is reasonable but you never own them, nintendo should really give people the option to buy like they did with snes stuff on the wiiu. I like buying the physical carts but for those in the west i can understand with how crazy your retro prices are.
Is there a way to buy SNES games that remain on your Switch permanently? I'm disappointed that the Wii Virtual Console and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console are discontinued, but the games I bought and downloaded are there permanently. I can use my 2DS to play Yoshi from NES and Super Mario Land 2 from Game Boy.
@@dualscreengrant no and i doubt there ever will be, why would nintendo accept a one time payment when they can just keep making people pay every year for ever.
I don't think they will continue the Nintendo Switch Online forever. It will probably be gone before 2030. People who want to play retro Nintendo games will probably have to buy whatever console comes next.
If conker was included I feel like the subscription would easily be worth it as long as you like that game because cartridges for conker usually go for around $150. But then again, you could just use an emulator so idk
The N64 Emulator on Nintendo switch needs to add the underrated games, like Hot Wheels Turbo Racing, and for the SNES on Nintendo Switch they need to add SimCity original. Ms pac man. That's all i can think of
I just bought the subscription required to play N64. I thought it would be more games so I'm a little disappointed but i could have looked that up before buying haha... At least Zelda was there and Mario cart. Would have been nice with super smash bros and golden eye.
There isn't Super Smash Bros or GoldenEye 007 yet, but Nintendo did announce that they plan to add GoldenEye 007 to Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pak. And if you have interest in playing with others in Mario Kart 64 online, here's a Discord link for that: discord.com/invite/9RP9JpRWrr
n64 online is pitifully sparse, I know the n64 library is small but they really came out of the gates a bit too slow in my opinion Wave Race and Goldeneye are some standouts but I think the N64 in general doesn't hold up as well as the NES and SNES games, I do prefer the N64 to the Genesis though even the Genesis has some fun games to play. I picked up the Genesis collection on Switch before the Expansion Pack came out for super cheap and it has most of the Genesis games I'm interested in.
How do you get the expansion pack? Does each retro system app cost money for a subscription to that retro system's games? Do you need a retro controller to play a specific retro system game?
You can get it through the Nintendo Switch store. The normal Nintendo Switch Online includes many of the systems, while the Expansion Pack includes all (including N64, GBA, and Genesis). You don't need a retro controller to play a specific retro system game.
Nintendo Switch Online (NES+SNES) is $20 a year. The Expansion Pak which includes NES, SNES, N64, and Genesis games (plus some special DLC for games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2) is $50 a year.
Wait where’s Pokémon stadium… legit has the Pokémon games which wasn’t popular, plus I kinda feel this list too short, and can you buy just 1 game without subscription
This video was from 9 months ago. Pokémon Stadium 1 and 2 are now on Nintendo Switch Online. There isn’t currently a way for anyone to buy one of these games from Nintendo on the Switch without a subscription.
For some games, there are NTSC (usually North American) AND PAL (European) versions that are available to play. The NTSC version runs 20% faster than the PAL version. The NTSC version is the default.
@@KennyPowersGaming You can just join in game as long as your Switch is connected to the internet. But Nintendo doesn't have matchmaking features, so the Discord is helpful for coordinating matches.
Well, "free" in the sense that the NES and SNES games are included with you paying for Nintendo Switch Online. With Expansion Pack you also get the N64, Genesis, and now GBA games.
@@YoyoYoshi1 Good news, not only did i subscribe to nintendo switch online but i got the expansion pack also. All I can say is that I am impressed. I just got one question: when do they add more games to this service?
They aren't, but they are cheaper because you only need the regular Nintendo Switch Online subscription rather than Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pak to get the NES and SNES games.
They're not. You'd have to get a Nintendo Switch Online subscription for the NES and SNES games. The Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription gets you the NES, SNES, N64, and Sega Genesis games, plus access to paid DLC for a few other games like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
I didn't get to play a lot of these and it is amazing to have access to them now 🙏
