Need to get my wife to try all these methods together and daily. She's understandably a bit emotional after labour. The lady in the video explains it very well and more clear than an article thanks for uploading. Hope these work
The hot water Compression with knuckle massage gave so much relief after suffering for 4 days. Couldn't thank you enough.
Hiii.. i am also suffering for 3days.. can u please share how u did it to get relief.. please share details
Additional tip (not sure whether someone has already mentioned it in the comments) - cold cabbage leaves, scratched with a fork to release the juice, placed over the inflamed area of the breast help with reducing the irritation
I wish I could thumbs up this video a thousand times! I had immediate success. Started with massaging and heat compression. Did. Final heat compression before letting baby latch and fed him in two different positions making sure his chin was pointing to where the clogged duct was and it's out. Praise God!
I was desperately searching for help last night and I found this. Thank you so much.
I massaged the clog with knuckles (exactly as you showed in the video) under hot shower (with water as hot as I could bear, and directly to the clog). Then I fed my baby right after that. The clog disappeared after 16 hours of trying just like that ! :)
Did you do the shower, every time you breastfeed?
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: 1) Bridget is AMAZING for helping us FTM feel so empowered with our future births and 2) thank you thank you for listing the topics on the screen as you discuss them! Shows that you are a true educator and teacher! 😊
😍
I second that my go to with all.
Agreed!!!! Thank you, Bridget!
Bridget your videos are so helpful thank you 🥰
Totally agree!!! 🙌🏽💕
Bridget ... I have carried your videos as a virtual doula support throughout my labour and pregnancy... and here I am during my week 2 of post partum.. following on your post partum guidance videos! I am so thankful to you for all these videos u make !!! This has been game changing for me !
Oh my gosh it worked! Thank you! After 2 days of severe pain, I followed directions as recommended and am feeling so much better. Bless you. 😭
I never leave comments on youtube but this time I have to do it.
Thank you to heaven YOU SAVED ME with your advice when I was desperate and wanted to give up breastfeeding!
I struggled so much and suffered so much pain, and all I have to do is watch this video. I solved the problem immediately.😀
Okay I came back to thank you.
I’ve been in tears for two day now
I woke up this morning drank two cups of mother’s milk tea, took a hot shower used warm compresses, drank a liter of water and did the changing of the breast feeding position I laid above her and turned her body upside down while she was laying on the bed since the clogged duct was on the top and it actually worked!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you 🤍🤍 very happy two week old and mommy
Just sharing what has worked for me twice. Once today and once 10 years ago. I could clearly see the clog on my nipple, called milk bleb and looks like a white blister. Took a warm shower to open pores. Got out and sterilized a needle and poked the bleb. Expressed and lots of milk shot out that clogged duct. Nursed baby. Hard lumps gone and relieved.
Got the clog from wearing a tight shirt to bed. Wear loose clothing esp to bed.
Hope sharing this helps someone.
I’ve had a clogged duct since Monday and it’s the WORST! I tried the Haakaa, massaging it, hot shower, epsom salt bath, and it still wasn’t gone. Finally this morning (Friday,) I decided to try dangle nursing (lump was on top of my left breast,) with baby on the ground upside down, and IT WORKED!!! Thank you soooo much for the tip!! I am so grateful!

Thank u so much dear for this video. I felt like i am dying of pain n fever. I had not latched my baby for 2 days cuz of c section after effect. Hot compress, coconut massage helped me. By following ur way i got relief in an hour. When i had contacted my hospital they had suggested me to admit in ER with baby. U really saved me
Thank you so much for this video. It really uplifted me and sorted me mentally. It's 2:16 in the Netherlands and it forced me prepare tomorrow's food with the right nutrition to help fight off this infection. I was going to go back to sleep without having any food, while I right this I am having salmon soup and high in fibre crackers to support my body and mental state. Have a great positive outlook on recovering and I am sure after watching this video I will be ok. Much love and God bless ⚘️
You are an angel! Thank you!! I have been doing everything I can for the past 12 hours with no improvement even after a long hot shower and massage. Your tip on how to massage is a complete game changer! Finally my clogged ducts are resolved! God bless you!!!
I’m in sooo much pain right now , I’m on my 4th day & it’s not getting better 😭 thank you for this video!❤️
What did you do to make it better?
The tip to unclog the duct really works wonders
I am preparing for my first child, and after seeing a FB post from a friend about a clogged duct, I decided to do some research. Although the idea of this is a bit overwhelming right now, knowing there is good information available to mommas does make me feel a little better. Thank you for providing help!!
Wow i was struggling with clogged duct for 4 hrs....tried everything from warm compress to epsom salt bath i was not able to remove it.... desparately searched UA-cam for remedies and thats when your video popped up,tried your massage tip with back of knuckles..IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM! Thank u godess !
This video helped me so much! Thank you!! My baby is 5 weeks old and I got my first clogged duct today. I suspect it was from my bra being tight because I don’t typically let myself get too engorged.
I massaged my breast in a hot shower following the technique in the video and then let my baby nurse with his chin against the clog (I’ve always nursed cross cradle so I switched to football hold since the clog was on the outside of my breast) and after a few nursing sessions my baby cleared it for me. ❤
What's football hold
@@SairaSabir1443AH if you Google “football hold breastfeeding position” you can see images of it. Apparently it’s also called clutch hold, but I was more familiar with the phrase football hold. The term football hold is probably more so an American thing, since that hold resembles how you’d hold an American football.
Thank you for posting all of these videos. All prenatal classes I had planned to take at my hospital have been cancelled due to the pandemic so your videos have helped answer so many questions. Thanks again!
Her videos are so awesome!!! I have a breastfeeding specific channel that you may find helpful once your baby is born. Congratulations :)
I wore a tight super supportive sports bra while breastfeeding and I got a few clogged ducts and it’s been horrible. These tips do work and now I wear a lose nursing bra that allows the milk to flow down.
That's how I got mine, with a dumb pump bra
Me too my other bra was in the laundry. It fit when I went to sleep but was so tight when I woke up. Never again
Her videos do help me. I have been watching her videos from when I was pregnant, how to survive 24 hours labour with breathing techniques, and now how to produce milk.
That haaka pump and epsom salt trick worked instantly. THANK YOU!!!
Do essentially soak the nipple in the water/epsom salt mix?
@@beautyybeautyy9899 I forgot to mention that you have to leave the haaka pump on fir about 10-15 minutes to allow the duct to open up and clear the backed up milk. You can do it 2-4 times a day until you feel the duct empty out completely.

I’m about to begin a new breastfeeding journey with my son once he decides to show up in a few short weeks. This video was so helpful!! I just had a clogged duct and I think what made it go away was nursing above my baby to get the milk flowing with gravity. I did not know that where the baby's chin is would be the side that gets the most milk out. Thank you Bridget for this informative video!

I’m exclusive pumping and I tried everything to unclog my breast. In last resort during a bath I hand pumped on my knees and it worked ! Thank you for the tip
Thank you so much for this. My baby developed diarrhea from the antibiotic I was taking, so I got her the prebiotic to settle her tummy!
Sometimes warm compresses before feeding and cold compress after feeding is all you need to relieve the lumps.
Thank you so much for sharing. I don’t have a baby, but I have a pituitary tumor that causes me constant clogged milk ducts that sometimes get infected so I will try some of these tips.
Please explain the haakaa + epsom salt process in more detail.

Thank you so much for educating me on this topic! I will use these tips going into my second pregnancy! You’re the best 😃
Garlic & elderberry or supposed to help with mastitis. If I feel it coming I cut garlic into tiny pieces & swallow like a pill & it helps
Is garlic sufficient for reducing clogged milk ducts??
@@fashab502 Idk sunflower lecithin is

I have bad mastitis right now. Tried so much to get rid of the pain. Just tried this and almost immediate relief. Thank you so much!!!!
Currently dealing with mastitis and the Haakaa with epsom salt and warm water cleared my duct 😭🥳 I still have some lingering pain on the area. I’ll give it time. So thankful for this video!
Wow. I’ve been dealing with mastitis for a few days now and the antibiotics are not helping. After watching this video I decided to massage my breast with my knuckles and the lump got much smaller and it’s not as painful. I did it in the shower while pouring hot water on the affected area. Can’t believe it worked. 😊 Thank you very much!
One different tip that worked for me: I had a really blocked one that got worse when pumping as milk wouldn’t come out. I tried lying down so the milk went backwards a bit and placed my baby on top with the chin in the direction needed (I got that advice from here!) and he finally sucked the milk out. I was surprised how comfortable he was in this eating position.
Then I fed him in a different position with gravity helping move the milk outwards.
Hope this can help some mamas !
This is an awesome tip!! Laid back nursing position can be a lifesaver. Also laying back and doing some gentle reverse massage to get any swelling to move out of the breast and back towards the lymph nodes in the armpit prior to breastfeeding can help with milk flow.
$for
@@KassiReyes Do you mean first reversing the flow via massage & then nurse the baby so he/she can suck it out? I have a tiny one left and it’s just not going away ! No fever/chills till now
@@priyanka181186 Yes exactly, gentle massage (too vigorous could worsen the problem) and then feed your baby. Use cold therapy to help with possible inflammation causing the clog. However if the area remains firm and doesn't change in size or if it persists for more than a few days, please mention it to your OB. Sometimes it is necessary to have an OB or breast specialist do an ultrasound to make sure it is a clogged duct
Thank you very much! First I induced my labor naturally when I actually had an appointment for medical induction in 7 hours after that thanks to your video and then now treated a crazy painful clogs when the doctor told me to take antibiotics directly!!it was my 3rd time with the clogs and I already took took antibiotics twice before that, so didn’t want to take them again for 10 days.. all of your tips worked 😉

Great advice! But please remember, FED is BEST and also a happy mamma is a happier baby :) Some mammas can't breastfeed.
Ok but breastfed is still best. Some can't but breast milk is still best
@@anniebdhdbbeidbI think you are missing the point. Breast feeding has more benefits in relation to formula by itself. But it’s more nuanced than that. BF can severely cause mental health problems for mom & some moms don’t produce enough. The “fed is best” saying is to make sure the baby has food first. If moms can supplement with breast milk or have to do it with formula then that is also fine. The most important thing is that the baby is thriving.
No fed is not best. Brestmilk is BEST formula comes secondary.
Sooooo annoying that you formula moms constantly comment “fed is best” especially on a breastfeeding video. You just say that because you’re insecure that. Your kid needs formula
Just because some can't, doesn't mean bf isn't best. It's unfortunate, but that doesn't take away from the fact that breastmilk is more nutritional and formula is man-made.
So helpful! Baby boy is only 5 days old and my left breast is clogged 😫 not excited for the sensation of massaging the duct but I gotta do what I gotta do!

What's working for my clogged ducts is using my manual pump (!), Warm bath with massage, and the haakaa thing.
I have just had my baby 5 days ago and now my breasts hurt like hell, I was feeding the baby a lot to empty the breasts but now the nibbles are injured and sometimes bleeding. I use lanolin but still struggling. I had one clogged duct in my left breast and I used hot pad and breastfeed immediately after that, it helped, but I hope the skin on the nibble will heal soon to enjoy breastfeeding rather than being in pain and frustration 😭
i am in the same road now …helpless
My friend suggested that I pump in the shower while massaging the area. I leave the pump itself outside the shower on a table and cover it so it doesn't get wet. It seems to help!

As a FTM these videos have helped me so much. I'm in the UK and here we have a huge issue with many midwives and health visitors being uninformed about breastfeeding and so many women give up because of it. There's little to no support and the information you're given can be so inaccurate and outdated. Speaking to friends and family I notice how wrong so many of them are about breastfeeding, but of course because I haven't had my baby yet I can't say anything without getting told I don't know what I'm talking about (I've been told bleeding, cracked tube nipples is normal, and it's always painful and you can't eat certain things which is all wrong). So many women are failed by their care providers when it comes to breastfeeding. UA-cam and Facebook groups have given me more information and confidence than any classes I could've done, especially considering I haven't even met my midwife in person yet or attended any antenatal classes and I'm due in just 3 weeks
I could have typed this myself! This is my exact experience. Thank you Bridget!!
These tips have come to be very helpful. Yet I wonder which breastfeeding position is most effective when it comes to a clog beneath nipple?
About to have my second baby boy any day now. I wish I followed you and learned from you with my first pregnancy and early motherhood but I am so happy I found you this time around. Thank you so much for what you are doing helping mothers trust themselves and increase their confidence in birth, feeding, sleeping, and other related parenting things.

Great advice! This was very helpful. I didn’t think about switching positions to aid with a clogged duct. It worked!
Which position worked for you? I tried almost all but a tiny bit is still left 🙁
Extremely useful video!! Thank you so much

It's really work ❤ warm shower nd coconut oil massage
Thankful for this video! I currently have mastitis as a busy mom of 4 with a 9 month old baby. I had forgotten some of these methods and thankful to be able to give them a shot before getting an antibiotic!
I had a clogged ducts for 2 days, i was in pain and couldn't sleep at night, so i Searched youtube to find a solution and found your video, i did massage under hot water in the shower then tried to feed my baby, and then all clogged ducts were opened !! Thank you so much for relieving my pain :)
I had a milk bleb that appeared during pregnancy around month 7. Midwife told me that baby will clear it out. I kept getting clogged ducts every week or two while nursing and the bleb was still there. What helped me was pumping in the shower using manual pump on all fours and epsom salt with hot water in a hakka pump. Then feeding baby right after.(Make sure you rinse epsom salt off your breasts before feeding baby). Massage lumps downward as you pump and feed. But it kept recurring until I found out about sunflower lecithin and took some when baby was 6 months. Let me tell you, the milk bleb that was there since my pregnancy disappeared after day 2 on sunflower lecithin. I took it for about a month and then stopped and haven't had any clogged ducts since. I keep some on hand just in case and take one as soon as I feel the start of a clogged duct.
If you get recurring clogs like me, it could be a fat buildup issue in your breast milk. I think some ladies have sticky fat that prevents their milk from flowing and you might find that your milk is more watery and less fatty. The lecithin helps emulsify the fat and water together so you get a flowy, smooth milk that is richer in fat. At least that is what it did for me.
Could you describe in more details this haakaa pump and salt technique?
This was really helpful, thank you! Where/how do I find the links though? I
Hello, thanks for the informative video. Regarding the silicone pump with epsom salt, can I use normal table salt as well? Will it have similar benefits?
No. Epsom Salt is magnesium
I found massaging while feeding or pumping helped to get it out faster and less clogs. Sunflower lectin also helped a lot. 😊 dangle feeding worked best on the clogs themselves tho.
How long and how often did you dangle feed?
I was plagued for several months by a recurring plugged duct (due to a previous injury) with my first. I had a hard line almost like a pencil under my skin down the length of my breast and could actually see the crystal showing on my nipple. Ways I got through it were:
1) Removing the visible plug with the side of a needle (not digging, just rocking it loose).
2) Hot baths with caster oil massage, and nursing in the tub.
3) Deep tissue massage.
4) Frequent nursing and sticking to the affected side as much as possible and 'tricking' the baby by changing positions instead of changing sides
5) Putting baby's jaw closest to the plugged duct with (in my case, that meant having baby on my shoulder - Aussie hold)
6) Nursing on all fours (try to explain that to your in-laws!)
7) Ultra sound therapy
8) Massaging down the swollen area toward the nipple while nursing
I think #1, 2, 4, 5 and 8 were most effective for me, but persistence and determination were definitely the key. It went on for so long that I was even advised to consider one sided nursing. Eventually it cleared for good and never came back, not even with my second. I was VERY glad that I stuck with it!
This is so helpful! You are an answer to prayer! Thank you!!
Ohhh my goodness the epsom salt one!!! I need to do this!! And sunflower lecithin!! I just got over mastitis!!! I can not believe how sick it can make you feel!! I continue to get engorged breast! It’s not easy! I needed this video!!

I just gave birth 4days ago to a beautiful baby boy but developed breast milk when I was 8months pregnant - by the time I gave birth my breast were hard as rock and I was just about to give up on breastfeeding until I found this video 😌 thank you so much, you have helped me heaps.
