- Installing a dropper post is a pretty easy task and one of the biggest ways to improve your bike overall. In this video I install a Raceface Affect dropper post on project Trifox.

Awesome video both neat little tricks to get cables to length. Though I don't like that you're insinuating that the old seat post is trash.
Suggestions:
1. You sell it and make a buck back for the fortune your nice dropper set you back, or give it away.
2. You save it as a spare, for when your nice dropper post is shot and you want to take a ride.
3. You save it for when you sell the bike and you want to transfer the dropper to your new bike.
Excellent well done
You're the man! Thx
Top shelf instructions!🥃🚵🏽
Thank you! You did a really great job of explaining how to set up a dropper. I’ve never dealt with one until today. I just bought my first bike with one and in trying to adjust the seat height I fxxxxd up the dropper due the my ignorance but your vide has saved the day!
Don't forget carbon paste in the seat tube, good deal though
For a carbon bike, and grease for a metal bike.
Nice video, but why are there bots of asian girls in bikini commenting?🤔
Oye 😂
Followed these steps and installed my Raceface dropper no issues, thank you! :D
My problem is, the brake cable I have is a lot wider than the shift cable that fits so had to try to do it the other way... I struggled trying to get the wire through the stupid barrel without it fraying for like 30 minutes and went through 2 cables before I gave up, its a very frustrating design.
Yep brake cables are not meant to be interchangeable with derailleur cables. I like this hack but don’t think it will work every time
Did the barrel came with the dropper ?
Very helpfull 👌🤙 thanx
When are you going to stress test this frame. I’ve seen build on it but no one actually riding hard to see how strong it actually is.
Did my first ride on it this past weekend. Looking forward to getting a little more riding and posting a video.
Nice video man. I have the same dropper and mine is having some erectile problems. Most videos I see you can take seat off and inflate psi so it'll raise properly. I took mine off and only see a bolt. You have any idea how to inflate to proper psi?
Thank you I was trying to install my and I watch like 4 videos but they didn't help until I found this very helpful
I just did mine cut too short was pulling it off bottom of seat post without realizing def be aware of that inside perfect outside too short had to add piece i cut off
nice guide! how comes that the internal cable doesn't interfere with the bottom bracket?
Nice job bro🤘🏻 the bots are killing me tho😂😂😂
I guess I am attracting a new audience...
Excellent video, thanks very much
Why are 5 out of the 6 comments porn bots...
Something in the metadata of this video must make the bots come and comment. I'll have to look at the tags lol
Hambini has a Trifox road review coming! The trifox seat and saddle aren't bad, but you can tell its briskly crafted
Hmm will be interesting to see his video.
How long should the cable be? I cut my cable fairly short to begin with, but i'm still growing and as I get taller I keep having to raise the dropper which in turn makes the cable shorter, and now I can't quite turn the handlebars 90° because the cable is too short. I can obviously still turn the handlebars fine when biking, but do you think I should bother getting a new cable, or just stick with it? Thanks
Long enough you cn turn the handlebar w/o binding, and just long enough you can remove the dropper for servicing.
@@Jamesthebikeguy OK, thanks
Do you cut off the brake cable end knob?
This way of cabling is so much better than having the cut end of the cable inside the seat tube with that tiny grub screw trying to hold it on and trying to set the tension
I need a video for this method
I can't seem to find a cable with an end that fits in the post connection.. you said brake cable, does road brake cable have a smaller end? I reaaaly want to rout it the way he does here..
Mountain bike brake cable
Followed your lead when swapping out a dropper post cable. Your video was very helpful, thanks keep up the good work.
Nice, glad it was helpful
Just ordered the 170mm dropper for mine hopefully everything works just like yours. Great video of a proper in-depth installation
Good luck!
Thank you very much for your effort. This is super easy and clear explanation with special TIPS to know before starting the work. Now I am more confident and I will try.... Greatings from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Awesome, glad to help!
Thanks. Best how to video on UA-cam. I’m ready to do my install.
Awesome, thank you!
Where did the large end of the cable go? Did you just cut it off?
It goes at the bottom end of the dropper post instead of the screw on barrel. Much easier to determine cable length at the lever end than the bottom of the dropper post.
Thanks for sharing, this really helped me!
I'm so glad!
I didn't see any boys. Nice video. Thank you.
Boys?
Why isn't the lever usually included? I've seen some outrageous prices people are willing to pay just for a lever.
The same reason that most better quality bikes don't come with pedals. Levers on a dropper poster very personalized and therefore the manufacturers sell just the post and allow you to choose what lever you want. better than spending an extra 20 to $50 on a dropper post only to throw it away and buy another 20 to $50 dropper lever that suits your preference
@@Jamesthebikeguy Pedals I can see the difference but is there that much difference between thumb levers other than the adjustment point being at the lever mentioned in the video. I've never given any thought to my shifter lever. Anyway good informative video, I think a dropper is in my future.
Levers actually do differ quite a bit. at some point I'd love to put together a video on it but it's so hard to get more than one at the same time that's not installed on something. but regardless you get different feels, different reaches, different leverage ratios, and different integration with brake levers. It makes for a bunch of different styles, although many are just the standard basic ones but there are a lot of different ones too
Good work! Two questions: How do you set the saddle height? You use a brake cable in derailleur housing?
Yes I did. The housing can take either cable. The types of house differe in compression properties, not the cable (Cable is just the end)
@@Jamesthebikeguy Thanks!
Hello! can you tell me what is the size of the frame in the video?
19"
@@Jamesthebikeguy
thanks
Soo shift cable or brake cable?
Your choice, depends on the setup.
What if you want to remove your dropper post to put more air in?
You undo the job. But virtually no posts run air anymore and the ones that do have the port at the top of the post
@@Jamesthebikeguy ahh wow. I did not know that. I do have an external cable routed dropper post which has an air valve on the bottom for adjustments, but I currently invested in a Brand X Ascend internal routed dropper post. I can't find any info on whether this is an air or hydraulic dropper. It looks like there is no valve on the top either.
Best install video
Thanks
