Been there, done that... hands down the best piece about the Swiss wall I have seen yet on UA-cam, thanks for that! God knows I took the chairlift down more often than I conquered the bumps... Rule 3 applies very much! The good thing is indeed that it does not get harder but easier the further you get down...

Had our first ever family ski holiday and lessons with Mark back in 2015/16. We are returning again this New Year, a slightly better skier so will hopefully attempt the Wall or perhaps view it from the chair lift 😆 great video and tips

What a great video! I did the Swiss Wall several times when I was younger ... Next season we're back in Les Portes du Soleil (I think for me it wil be for the around thirtied time - I don't remember it!) and maybe we'll attack the Swiss Wall ... I say maybe ... because I experienced the difficulty and the need of souplesse and physical form. Now I'm 71 so ... we'll see ...

glad you enjoyed it. I skiid it with my dad when I was a kid a bout 20 years ago, and then again with him last winter when he was 70 when the snow was optimal. Be careful though! don't underestimate how dangerous and tiring it is. you can easily experience it all up close and personal just by down loading the chairlift

@@Avoriazskischool I certainly won't underestimate it! Attack only with good conditions en clear weather!

Excellent vid. That clip down a narrow steep section between rocks made me go "naaahh!" 😆. Presume that's not a section of the Swiss wall?

Thanks ! the couloir you mention isn't near the Swiss Wall no, although it is less than about 10km from it as the crow flies

I went to Chamonix, first time on alps and felt confident to run their reds. Little did I know that the first lift brought me to the top and it was all moguls down to first ski lift. I was terrified, exhausted and heart rate somewhere between 150 and 170. My first thought was, what's the effing point?!

Excellent! I think this mogul run is 1k long. It might be h the longest in the world.

I’m going avoriaz in a couple of months
It’ll be my 4th week skiing and I really want to do this run
I’m at the point where I’m pretty comfortable on blacks but I think this might be above me since I havnt done much off piste or mogul skiing

Best to do a load of mogul skiing and some off piste first. Perhaps try the bumps right of the Stade in Avoriaz, and the Combe de Machon black run. And all the variable snow conditions under Fornet chairlift. Be aware that the Swiss wall can be very dangerous, especially in unfavourable snow conditions

those were Wayback 106 with a Duke PT. Love them. Super fun for off piste and touring. Not optimum for mogul skiing but still do a great job

I felt sick just watching it. I'll stick to my green, blue and occasional reds, but great video btw😂
