I sent a damaged card to Topps, what did they send me back?

- I pulled a really nice card from a pack of Topps Chrome Sapphire sadly it was damaged. So I followed the process and sent the card back into Topps to see what they would do.

Kevin Kramer. I bought his 2020 topps chrome black printing plate for $10 at Jamie's flea market back in 2021.
Hoping with the new 10 year redemption rules and such, the damage replacement department improves as well.
I did just send in my 1st damaged card (2023 Stadium Club Gunnar /199 that had a checkerboard of print lines on it.) A nice enough card to send, but not some huge card that if they screw me over somehow I would be too upset about.
Sounds like a job for Kurts card care!!!
Still a beautiful card
I've never returned a card but wondering if I should now. I pulled a Gold Elly De La Cruz card recently which is perfect...except for one HUGE thing. The gold number stamping went THROUGH the card! You can see the imprint of the number on the front. Everything else is perfect...centering, edges, corners and surface except for where the stamp comes through. Should I send it to them to be replaced?
You definitely put a letter in the return that said you’re an influencer! Us reg folks wouldn’t have gotten the original card back 😀

Crappy situation. Thanks for the update. There’s deff Cruz collectors that aren’t going to care much about it and enjoy getting a numbered, auto sapphire card. Please share again when you move the card.
I hate that companies have an expiration on things like redemptions and replacements.
if they didnt then the liabilities on the company would be through the roof. Imagine if 20 years from now they HAD to replace a card that old. They would have to keep an inventory and hold onto it forever. It just isnt realistic. Dame thing with redemptions. Do they hook you up for expired redemptions. Who buys them? I do. I have recived a care package for eveeyone sent in. My oldest was 5 years old. I cant argue with that.
Simple solution…stop buying from them
The rule of thumb used to be that if a card looked like it would grade less than an 8 the card companies would replace it. They would try to replace it with the same card but if they could not they would replace it with what they considered equal value. Recently they have updated their boxes to say that damage is part of the production process and they are not liable for any damage. So even if you had been within the time limits, the result would have probably been the same.

You pay for new products! But anything 8 is sent back.....and not replaced....
What if you don’t have the receipt my buddy bought me box for my birthday and one of the cards is auto to 25 with 2 bad corners

Those are the best packs that I've seen sent out as a consolation prize.
I've had a few damage replacement and a few missing hits. For damage they've always given me even or better. For missing hits... I received them, but nothing that great.
I had 35 2023 stadium club cards that missed the foil step. They sent me a full blaster box so that was cool
A little bit of humidity and Kurt's Card Care would have that 8 looking like a 10 in no time.

The autograph is the foreground value to the background value of the condition to some collectors, so, I'd not be too hasty to feel it's that bad of a situation. I'd rather have that card of a known player in damaged condition than that unknown rookie player Topps saphire on card auto in perfect condition. Condition does matter, but with autographed cards, there's so many collectors who can appreciate a good solid autograph

Just put it in your collection. Why is everything about making money? It's an auto of a nice young player. Think about vintage cards with a wrinkle. Keep it in your collection
Because customers spend good money…. You’re searching for PC Cards or cards that you can sell for as much money as it sells for. Not for damaged products, you send back for a lessor selling card.
Within the past 6 months, TOPPS has gone from having competent people answering the phone to a woman working from home (both times I called) with her dog barking. The first time she told me they couldn't replace a 2023 Stadium Club card because it's been a year (it was the week they released) and the second time, she couldn't help me with what year a card was from. (Image variation that I thought was 2022 Transcendent and it was) --- May as well send customer service to the Philippines, or take the Beckett approach and just ... not answer ... ever.
