Hello!
I appreciate finding other midlands gardeners! as its so difficult to get good tips and advice for our area!
I don't have an allotment, but I am slowly turning my own garden into various veg beds. This season will be my first full season, last year I got started in May but still did ok! ITs so rewarding.
I cannot for the life of me get rid of bindweed either.
Can't wait to get started with clearing and prepping beds but the weather has been so poor over the weekends!
Best of luck for this year!
Hello from close by 👋🏻 hows the veg beds going? Have you planted anything yet? Yeah the bindweed and weather combo has been horrific!! 😰 x best of luck for you too! X
Bindweed is deep rooted and can go down 3 metres. It often forms a mat about 30 cm down. My plot was 75% covered in bindweed, it took me two and a half years to eradicate it. I dug it out as best as possible double digging where its roots went deep, then mulched the beds and went no dig.. During the growing season my first job of the day was to walk my beds and remove any shoots as they poked through and the shoots were only two centimetres or less, this took about five minutes to do.. The end of the first year it was much weakened. The end of the second year there was only a few places that bindweed grew and by mid summer of the third year I removed the last of it. The plot has been bindweed free for three years now. I do not use chemicals
Yeah i know its super deep rooted how ever i do not have the time to dig it out like that and i try to disturb the soil as little as possible! You have done so well 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Awww your dad... Appreciate him everyday. My dad used to help me with everything, I never realised how old and sickly he was because he kept a brave face, not wanting to be less of a man. And then he passed away. Suddenly and unexpectedly, because he never let on how sick he was. Seeing your dad helping you makes me want to run up there and just hug him so tight. You will forever treasure these memories. Thank you for making these videos, you are lovely and your dad is awesome! Much love from South Africa xxxxx
He is amazing, appreciate him everyday! Oh im sorry to hear he passed, its my worst fear! Yeah big hugs 🤗 thank you so much for watching x
Hello DEAREST
very nice sharing

keep it up
Thank you ☺️
Plot looking good. Great dad
Thank you 🤩
Sounds very windy great video
Its always so windy on the plot! Very open x
Great job and you would make a great weather presenter! X
Aww thank you, maybe thats my next job lined up 😄
I have to do this in summer with my garlic/carrot goes because apparently hubby says they are too close to the poly 🤦🏼♀️. We had a hard time clearing the snow because of it. Great job and so nice to have dad close by. That bindweed is a beast and luckily we don’t have it here in my garden 🙏. Have a safe week hopefully no huge damage, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
Hows the polytunnel? Yeah bindweed is a beast and its absolutely awful this year already now spring has arrived 😭😭
Amazing difference Kirsty, good to see you back & i hope 2024 is brighter. I’ve followed you from the start 😊 I’ve doubled my plot this past year. Got raspberries to move & treated myself to a proper tunnel, that will go up once the weather is still. Would love to watch some grow a longs / seed sowing / potting on tips 🎉
Thank you for following me from the start ❤️ ohh lovely have you got much growing in the tunnel? Will make sure i do more short videos and how to 🙌🏻🌱
@@mylittleallotment hiya, the plot is looking good. I get bindweed from one side and couch grass the other. The poly cover finally went on yesterday so now planning the layout. Never seem to have enough hours, plus the weather in Norfolk is atrocious…🥕
Great update Kirsty. Love that raised veggie pod.
Amazing how much more you get done with a helping hand 💪
Thank you so much for watching 😁 yeah seems so much easier, might have to hire someone lol
👍👍👍
Thank you 🤩
Wow, really nice ❤ gardening with dad is the best ❤ since my mom died it's me and dad in the garden. ❤ He calls me the boss 😂😂 love it!
Awww i love that! My dad is definitely my best friend so it’s always nice being down there with him. His plot is next to my plot 😊
❤ Enjoy every moment ❤
It’s looking great.
Thank you, first part is definitely looking much better. Cant wait to get back down there!
Hi Kirsty,
Loving your channel and all the advice youre giving. 😄x
But pretty please get yourself a clip on microphone, so we can hear your lovely voice instead of the wind!!!! ‼🤣x
Hello 👋🏻 yes i normally wear one but it had stopped working and i didn’t want to lose getting the filming done. ☺️ x
Cover your perennial weeds with black plastic, they'll rot underneath with no light. Nice video.
I did do this down the other part of my plot and there have grown still 😂😂 must be on steroids
@@mylittleallotment Jeff Goldblum says "life finds a way" LOL
looking good there Kiirsty ........ surprising how much can be done with a little help isnt it
You know what i normally get lots done on my own but you are right you can get a crazy amount done with a little help 💜 my dad has been great helping me get started so now i definitely can get it all finished ready for spring
@@mylittleallotment you do get lots done on your own i know 👍 good to have someone to chat to and do the jobs alongside each other -- special time with your dad 💜 and lots of knowledge to tap into as well ........ looking forward to seeing your progress ..... and some more sunshine ! happy days 😀
Brilliant job again Kirsty thanks for the video
Thank you for watching ☺️🙌🏻
