the bruiser inherited its axles from the toyota 4x4 hilux made in 1982, not to be confused with the newer toyota highlift, which originally came with a step side style rear bed thus required the rear axle to be wider so the rear tires would fit the wider width of the body, unfortunately tamiya never did a update to the front axle when the bruiser came out a few years later thus giving the difference in width from front to back.

the hilux highlift has those ugly axles with the oversized pumpkins , the bruiser axles are basically hilux castings but without the lockout hubs which gave it the extra width , i thought about getting a hgp409 and changing the axles the the bruiser type , then modding it with the transmission lift kit from ampro so it can actually go offroad without high centering on everything

you can get bruiser specific wheels from rc4wd that corrects the width difference, Part Number:Z-W0030.

True but i really didn't like how those looked plus the price was a bit higher than i wanted to spend , this was more or less a free mod , got the wider spacing and didn't have to change the look , also didn't have to replace the tires again , it works well enough for me
