In a nutshell, I ‘m an avid dumpster diver, scrapper, picker, treasure hunter and underwater connoisseur. I prowl the city streets in search of dumpster loot, curbside treasures & scrap metal as well as scour the river bottoms for lost valuables during the summer months when I can scrounge up enough money for gas. Those rolls Of Tape Are 1960’s magnetic computer tape, same as a floppy disk
they may have started in the 60's but we used them into the 90s on large (mainframe) computers for backing up the data..
These were thrown out when Government program Tic Toc was finally cancelled.
They were the hard drive before hard drives were invented

NEC Plasma screen , used in malls for advertising on , they are super well made and produce an incredible picture , it's got all kinds of inputs on it !

Mike, Those reel looking things are magnetic tape used to store digital data. Very old school.

To get those ballast you could have put the magnet on the end of the stick and then picked up the ballast.

Hey Mike if you want to keep your shoes from getting wet or so put some mink oil you get it at any shoe repair shoe shop where they have the products for polish and what you do is you take a toothbrush and you get it into those threads and I'll keep the water out cuz if you're going to be afraid that your boots are going to get wet and soggy then do that fix the problem
@29:39 That is a tape dispenser for gummed tape that requires water. I've got a 45 year old one (same model 52 from Nashua Package Sealing or NPS) sitting about 10 feet away from me right now.
Why don't these dumpster manufacturers make drain holes in dumpsters anymore? We have an old one and it's got a 2inch hole with steel catwalk welded over it to keep the mice out.. no dumpster juice there!!
I think they had to stop putting drainage in because it can contain potentially hazardous contaminants, especially for streams and rivers. I worked at a senior living community that had a roll off and - trust me - you did NOT want any of that "dumpster juice" running off through the parking lot and into the storm drains!
I really wish they did!
I'm guessing they don't do it because it costs them a few bucks more!!

Man, sometimes I just wanna cry at all the wood and plywood you leave in those dumpsters! I'd HAVE to take that home with me!
BTW, those are reels of magnetic tape (like they used to use for reel-to-reel tape recorders and cassettes), that is used for data recording by some instruments, then transferred to a computer.

The nec monitor is one of the best monitors of it's time, and expensive as all get-out. The Multeos series has 2 versions, M40 and M46. I have the M46, being used as a home entertainment monitor. It's from 2011 and cost $4,200 without the added speaker package.
They were meant for permanent installation, mostly airports, hospital waiting runs, etc.

Watch first few seasons of Mannix when he worked for an international security service...those tapes had all the answers to questions you asked them. lol

I could see the making of a crane for your truck with that exercise equipment, the tubing looks pretty thick and you could get a hand crank winch from Harbor Freight for the lifting part.
Even a come along 1 ton cable puller would do the trick.

Mike take those old monitors and drop them from 5 feet on the top front corner and they pop apart then kick the big copper coil off the back of the picture tube in seconds! I used to do computer reclaiming and we'd swing those monitors like a sledge hammer into the cement floor with the power cord! Good times!

Likely if they have a metal case. But the copper is not magnetic.
Tools are always nice. That sample window goes for $ 30-150.
I had those windows in the show room of our glass shop I worked for.
They sold windows and doors and custom glass works.

My wife's old company had those up all over their building. They displayed PowerPoint presentations and other company info on them. They replaced them with 50" 4K Smart tv's.

I know i"m late! and you probably already know this, At 34:18 , that JetPack device is a portable internet modem. Cell companies sell them for people who don't want or can't use their cell phones as hot spots. Plans are usually cheaper than a phone plan because it's plain data. nothing fancy.

I worked as a cable splicer for over 30 years. The last ten in a rural area the boss did not want to deal with the paperwork for recycling dumpsters so every day I threw 10 to over 100 pounds of copper wires in the dumpster the same as the other 8 people I worked with. We would be fired if we took it home. I always wondered if the guy who emptied the dumpster fished it out.
You can make a dolly to get under your motor to fix it with the plate with wheels on.

lessee....the Verizon Jetpack is a portable wifi - the thing with rollers is probably a server rack attachment - as for the big reels, those are computer tapes...they were used mostly in mainframe computers.....yeah, I'm old enough to remember that....lol Great dive tonight, especially with the display monitor and sewing machine! Always love watching! Keep hustling!

Mike those tapes are the same as your storage memory real early stuff,I am not sure if they even use it anymore
I used to work in computer rooms at Texas Instruments. Those are tapes for backing up the system, storing the programs etc. That was 30 years ago so I’m thinking they are obsolete by now.
