Can't get above grey life using consumables or maybe an ultra rare only 1 per run and Healing spells allowing to regenerate above. This would make mage even stronger for their support abilities and a real challenge for those who goes solo assassin's as they can't get away with pots.
@@The_Rift The consumables were my only gripe with the game mechanics. So long as you didn't get oneshot, you could just spam curatives and act like nothing happened. No animation to leave you vulnerable and you could carry hundreds of them. Periapts were kinda boring too and explosive consumables were just broken. Well, that and warriors getting the shortest end of the stick.
Capcom is so good at making battle systems man each and every Capcom action game is always something i fall in love with ever since DMC1 then came Onimusha and then MH came out and was the same and the same thing happened with DD too heck now im technically super hyped by a game whose combat is built by former Capcom devs

I remember doing this casually. I would always just go straight to Bitterblack Isle because of just how much exp you could get by cheesing the first boss, and all the amazing items that were available. It turned every minor enemy into a major boss fight, and it led to one of the longest hydra fights I have ever had. But god was it satisfying when I finally won without screwing up and losing hours of progress.
Didn't limit myself from range but I did this when bbi first came out. Glad to see this game is getting so much attention. It was an amazing experience, truly one of my favorite games and is what turned me onto the dark souls series. If you haven't played this and it looks cool, trust me, you'll enjoy it.
Ok, I'm impressed with how you got passed the Dark Bishop. Most people hide in the passage way until the Bishop enters; he can't fly out of range in there. But you took him out fair and square.
I did this by accident. I was dumb and couldn't figure out how to leave Bitterblack. Friends claimed I moved in there and that's where the story of my Arisen ended. Good times.
The original BBI challenge is you cannot go further than the 'Encampment'. Defeat the 1st cyclops and then BBI opens, create your pawn and go to BBI; throw pawn into the brine never to see him/her again. Gazer at level 12 is by far a tough fight. You can sleep at Cassardis to refresh and one must defeat both forms of Daimon. BTW farming level 2 weapons from the 'Black Abbey' ornate chest is grindy but sneak around to get them without fighting. Happy grinding lol.
To me is not fun doing that... I prefer "grind" some levels, Dragon forge my gear, and use the items at shop to surpass some of the most dangerous place of BBI, which are not far away from the start, per example... be able to survive a one shot from the big skelleton while trying to gatter the first key... kill the first mimic to get exp boost items for dragon exp multipliers and so on... either farming thrownblast
@@bso1538 level 2 weapons get the job done and grinding a little is unavoidable but one must know what to grind and bbi armor is a waste when running solo. I did it as an Assassin and then a Sorcerer both with basic DF armor but GF main weapons. My point was the initial challenge rules were posted a while back on Google. Just enjoy.
Tier 1 spells are just basic spells you've seen so many times so acceptable. The elemental bolts are interesting I spent like 10 minutes just to see the effects for each element the first time I played a mage Tier 2 spells are where the fun started, fire wall? Giant ice spikes from the ground? An electric whip? Poison clouds that's somehow very op? Yes Tier 3? You're basically a walking natural disaster
I've done this some time ago and had a great time. In my case I went for a solo pure Strider character with no vocation changes, did not use items mid-combat and went until True Daimon. A lot of deaths and a lot of fun!
That's how I played the game the first time. I made a new character, did a few quests... saw a girl in the pier at night and theeeeeeeen..... 50 hours later I am leaving Bitter Black island as a new man. I didn't know you weren't supposed to play it like that the first time. Lmao
Well buddy, you got your trailer. And what a trailer it was. Also, the music you chose for the intro felt like should be the theme song for Daimon. It's scary, unpredictable, and a bit unhinged. And when it comes to how this played out, I feel like I have already seen this "anime". Weak protagonist thrown into the deepest, most deadly part of the world, clawing and struggling their way to the top until they're completely overpowered. If you went to Gransys now, you would have the certified harem overpowered protagonist experience, complete with your own Pawn harem. It checks all boxes. 10/10, might try it one day. Looking forward to DD2!
this is how I played bb ever since it came out, hardest dificulty on base level. its rewarding seeing your unit leveling up fighting random dungeon monsters, I have all the units tested different classes the base game with story line became boring. 😂 the most hardest class to level was always the mage but the best in end game it becomes too op. while warrior strength is the easiest to traverse the early dungeon but pretty hard on the end game.
Done the challenge like 4 times once as a sorc,two as a strider and one as a mystic knight. All were hard as hell but strider is best cause you can cheese Death on the bridge by using 10 blast arrows. Hella fun but rage inducing.😭

I remember where I did a somewhat similar challenge where I wanted to hit the max level before even talking to the captain. I traveled to Gran Soren so I can actually fast travel but after that, I went around the world to grind up some levels and equipment before I hit 45 (I did 25 levels of Ranger for Stamina, and 20 warrior for health, then switched to Assassin) and entered BBI, after that I stayed in there till 200 and had the best gear and equipment in game. Yes I used the cheese with dropping Death over the cliff in the Bloodless Stockade, Sue me.
I essentially do this on most playthroughs. Except the ranged weapons. That's crazy. Also, using throwblasts in early BBI is essential, since you're a level 1 regular dude.
I feel like the no pawns thing actually makes it a little easier because you will know that only you are being aggroed and not some random stray archer/mage randomly changing their target to you and one shotting you lol.
If you to the settings in the game you can disable that. It drove me nuts until I had the idea to check. I no longer get those annoying cut scenes.@@KaiKrimson56
I've done 2 BBI challenges, first ever was ranger, as its my most used class, I love the availability of debilitations, and the run was super fun The second was warrior. That was not as easy. That made me take a 2 month break from the game.
1:36 exquise me WTF I didn't know you could just do that do you know how long I spend cutting off the tentacles in normal runs until he drops down and then he sometimes refuses to show the last tentacle and I spend 10 minutes waiting
I did this challenge on both PS3 DLC and PS4 Dark Arisen. Well every new game I go to BBI anyways on hardmode for extra EXP and no pawns. I don't have any good weapons and I can't really handle it until I gain RC and purify which is why beating Daimon is necessary. I did however use Throwblast method. If that's cheating that's fine. That's mainly my weapon and throwing throwblast is sometimes a bit tricky cause you'll never know where it's gonna land without the arch. I even beaten death twice with throw blast method. One during the bridge sequence and the other on the sewer using the waterfall one with only throw blast which gives me to level 100 almostly before even reaching Daimon. It was much easier on PS3 I believe when I first play it as a DLC. I think they change a bit on PS4 but throwblast has more damage than ever before. You just need to know where the throw arch and the timing to do it and yes, no armor, so everything will one shot you.
a tip for your next bitterblack visit: Switch to keyboard and mouse for its animation, using both the mouse and the keyboard is much faster than on controller.
hello again I have a interesting question for you ok so I know what its takes to be a great dragon like gigori but what dose it take to be a lesser dragon like drake because I thought the only to become a dragon was to be deafated by seneschal and they only way to do that was to defeat a great dragon. do you become a lesser dragon after being defetad by a great dragon?
I thought hard mode is going to be a challenge, well technically yes at first but as I progress through the game it become so easy that I thought I'm playing in normal mode difficulty because of the Gold that I gained from the enemy, but this challenge I think it will definitely make the hard mode a "Hard Mode"
Consider the two different game difficulties like two kind of gameplay... both are good, on hardmode you must be carefull, at normal you must be more conservative of money...
I am playing a hard playthrough on PS3 but my challenge was to not use any magic vocations. I do have Pawns. I have beat the DD game and down in 3rd Stratum in BBI. Think I'm sticking with Assassin. Warrior is a tough one for me but I was able to get past Dark Bishop with Warrior.

@@bso1538 I've pretty much conquered bitterblack isle on every difficutly, but i never thought about doing a very specific challenge run before; the one thing i did was probably starting bitterblack at level 10, but not leaving it would change the flow significantly because time moves much slower there than gransys
@@lostsagaonlyyes8598 at BBI you level up faster, so much faster, which makes which makes starting at level 10 or level 1 almost the same, at hardmode it's almost guaranted that you will die un one-hit
@@bso1538 it's possible to start at 10, even on hard mode. Not sure about level one because youd have to not level up at all brefore unlocking access to BBI. Do suicide runs to get loot, repeat until you at least get some good gear, then once prepared, kill the gazer with throwblasts. It's tedious but not impossible, and not too hard if you know what youre doing. I did it with a mystic knight

Not only that, but the Pawns sometimes trigger cinematics that can throw off trying to use certain skills that need to be timed to do maximum damage.

Yes, is pretty funny to do that way... but the bad thing, after completing the BBI you are overleveled for the outerworld

Could have sworn that the final boss had another stage. Maybe that’s the second time you fight him.
The first time through and the second time through differs. Enemies become stronger/change and Daimon gets his awakened form

Go ahead, and have fun with it... I really love make that kind of challenge... I did it with almost all classes, and hard and normal... also learning how BBI works is really fun
@@bso1538 I've pretty much conquered bitterblack isle on every difficutly, but i never thought about doing a very specific challenge run before; the one thing i did was probably starting bitterblack at level 10, but not leaving it would change the flow significantly because time moves much slower there than gransys
@@lostsagaonlyyes8598 at BBI you level up faster, so much faster, which makes which makes starting at level 10 or level 1 almost the same, at hardmode it's almost guaranted that you will die un one-hit
@@bso1538 it's possible to start at 10, even on hard mode. Not sure about level one because youd have to not level up at all brefore unlocking access to BBI. Do suicide runs to get loot, repeat until you at least get some good gear, then once prepared, kill the gazer with throwblasts. It's tedious but not impossible, and not too hard if you know what youre doing. I did it with a mystic knight
Let's add a rule to the challenge: NO BLAST ITEMS! XD
