  • We’ve all tried the “prewar” tone-rings in our banjos...few if any have lived up to the prices we paid for them! If you are tired of the ever-increasing prices of these 3 lbs chunks of bronze, then try one of these torrefied Sullivan block rims! It’ll only set you back a few hundred, will be expertly fitted to your parts, and WILL improve the volume, tone and enjoyability of your instrument. Light weight, hard and strong, these rims take any banjo and truly supercharges it-right out of the box too!! And when the rim settles into your parts after a year...oh nelly!

I reckon your banjo sounded more powerful in those old instruction videos, strangely enough

Not true. All those years ago I:
Picked at least 5x harder than I do now
      Used 3/4" bridges
      Med/heavy strings
      high action
Now, I use a lower action, shorter bridges, better technique. To my ear, my old banjo never sounded powerful, rather aggressive due to how I had to play it to get the tone. It was never constructed well by Gibson, and over each iteration has gotten better than stock.
Also, remember mics never tell the whole story of how instruments really sound!

I want one of these things but being in the uk leaves me at a high disadvantage its such a shame i might order a tone ring from them and have them fit the ring up to the rim😬

I know Eric would do that...though I would be surprised why the ring and not the rim would be available in the UK. Price would be higher for both of course, but both should be equally available.

@@teakbridge101 How's your banjo sounding so far with the new block rim. The reason l'am asking is because l put one in fairly new Gold Star (torrefied red maple) It made a huge difference in the banjo.Better tone and more volume and it's getting better all the time.I'am comparing this banjo with my high end banjos and sounds so much better then any of my other banjos.I got the rim because of your reviews.Really happy with this rim.I got the rim because of your videos. THANKS.

@@bradsparks6008 Well, Brad you need to be persistent. I have had a new banjo built, it was damaged and improperly done by the "luthier," still negotiating a refund; I spent many, many months speaking with Eric Sullivan for a rim for this banjo...patience and persistence!
