Hey guys! I meant to clarify that these products should not be used on the eyelids. The ingredients can be very irritating to your eyelids. They are meant for milia on the cheeks, chin, and nose. For milia on the eyelids, see your derm for removal.
Thank you so much Dr. Dray my best friend had been suffering from millia since we were 15 years old. We are in our 40's now. Will share this video to her to the other side of the world I live in the west side of the globe and she is in the east asia and the help is from U.S.A ( Dr.Dray) I love technology. New generations are so lucky but anyway it's never too late.
I have milia mostly near my eyes like eyelids, eye corners and under eye areas, I am scared to use eye creams because of fear of aggravating milia further
I remove my milia myself! I only do it with the ones that are looking big. I do it with a needle and pop the fine layer on top, then I squeeze gently. I don't get scars :)
Dr. Dray, I wanted to THANK YOU for recommending Paula’s Choice Exfoliate to get rid of milia. I’ve had these stupid bumps for YEARS and tried lots of different products. After seeing this video, I bought Paula’s Choice Exfoliate. I’ve only been using it 2x per day for 3 days and I can already see a very visible difference!!! Holy smokes. THANK YOU!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dr Dray I would like to thank you for the information you presented. I have had milia for years and Paula’s Choice Exfoliate has made a significant improvement in the milia on my forehead and sides of my upper cheekbones! In just 2 weeks it is eliminating these stubborn bumps. So happy!!
Pixi 10% Glycolic Acid Over Night Glow Serum has really helped me get rid of some milia. It’s way to strong for me to use as a serum all over, but has really been an effective spot treAtment for speeding up the natural process of sloughing off the milia.
I too used the Glow Tonic on a milia bump I had in the corner of my left eye. It was too close to my eye to use any exfoliation method so I just dipped a Q-tip into the toner and dabbed it on the bump. After 2 weeks of doing this every night before bed, the bump finally came off. I was so relieved!
I watched this video, washed my face and used The Ordinary Salacylic Acid 2% Masque. I left it on for about 20 minutes, rinsed it off and voila! Milia are so much better.
I finally know what kind of bumps are in my nose. I struggle for YEARS-bought so many products but I couldn't get rid of it. I thought it was fungal acne. No wonder i couldn't remove them.
Derma E overnight peel is awesome. I have sensitive skin and some exfoliants are too rough. I don’t have milia. I’ve used for about two weeks and my skin does feel smoother.
I got several milia bumps when I used CeraVe Moisturizing cream on my face. I've never had them before! I love the CeraVe for a body cream, but not for my face!
I often wondered what these were, but ever since I have been following your recommendations for skin care they have disappeared! I am rosacea prone Fitzpatrick type I, so I’m a every other day retinol type. Thank you again for sharing your vast knowledge, you’ve saved all our skins from needless weathering and wear and tear.
I was always plagued with milia and I tried to squeeze and burst them but they never budged. Best thing I ever used on them was Proactiv cleanser scrub. Very expensive but it worked great! Got rid of them for good! Sayclicic acid is the best ingredient to get rid of them.
I developed milia after a C02 laser procedure. The milia on my cheeks were not in a place where they could be removed because they are too deep in the skin. It’s been a battle to get rid of them but all of your suggestions over time have helped me develop a game plan. Thanks for this inclusive list. I’m already using several of the products you mentioned (Exuviance Peel, PC BHA, tretinoin, azelaic acid) and will add others over time as needed.
Trust me the best cure for milia is tea tree oil, it’ll burn like crazy but in like 3 days the milia will be gone, milia kept appearing on me about 4 times under my eyes in my life and I used tea tree and it disappeared
Suggestions for products to use around the eyes for Milia? For some reason they seem to form under the eye and on the lid.Thank You for another great video.
Yeah me neither! I always thought of it as more of a genetically predisposed thing... one of my closer friends in high school and her mom both had them chronically under the eyes and I remember as we got older her younger sister ended up with them too!
I know I’m late to this party but if anyone sees this I developed milia from slugging every night when I didn’t need to and using Cerave moisturizing cream when I didn’t need it. I needed both of those for a while because I had awful dry patches but after I got rid of them I kept the same routine for a long time. Better to switch to a lotion rather than a cream and & slug less often.

@@celestema2506 Yes! I had them for a good 2 years, if not longer. I didn't notice them at first/I didn't think they were a big deal. After realising I was using too heavy products, I changed my heavy moisturiser to the Cerave Daily Moisturising Lotion, and started using retinol and chemist exfoliation. After 6+ months of no change in the millia, I decided to get them removed. It does sting a little and will heal like a regular scratch. After about two days of healing, they're completely gone! It's scary since its close to the eye, but do see a professional and it'll pay off!
I had a larger one removed. Then I started using Neutrogena Rapid wrinkle repair retinol the purple serum capsules and it removed smaller ones in about a month! I was happily amazed .
Thank you Doctor! I developed a milia after having my fatty eye bags removed. I had and have been using Differn ever since it became otc some years ago. I realize now that may be why I never developed more if them. The Differen kept the milia at bay, so to speak. It's the only thing that has gotten rid of my adult acne which has badly scarred my face.
Have you checked your moisturizer? I started using TO Ascorbic acid + alpha arbutin and it made my skin sooo smooth. But the moment I stopped it and went back to using my TO moisturizer (NMF + HA), my milia started to come back again. 😭
I had a milia on my nose once and freaked out 😩 I was in between a refill on my tretinoin and was without it for a week. When I finally got another tube of my beloved tretinoin.. the milia was gone overnight. I was shocked by its efficacy on the milia and have never stalled out getting my refills ever again lol.
I have literally had these bumps since I was a small child. And no one has ever said anything to me about it. I went to a dermatologist and she said it’s hereditary? And said there’s no way to treat it. But literally some times the bumps will come out on their own and almost be like hard little balls almost the size of a grain of sand…
Dr Dray, I watch your videos ALL the time but am particularly thrilled that you're addressing the milia issue. I get them almost all the time and have been to dermatologists to get rid of them. Am glad to see you've got some cheaper options. I have a further question. I have just finished radiation treatment for tongue cancer. As a result, my neck is a mess from the radiation. It is hyperpigmented (I look like I have a dirty neck) and it's also VERY dry, with scaly patches of dry skin. Which product would you suggest would be best for milia, hyperpigmentation and radiation damage scaly skin? If I need to buy two, I can do that if they aren't too expensive (widowed and in reduced circumstances, yadda yadda). Oh not that it matters I suppose but my cheek and ear are very dry too but not scaly like my neck. I had 39 radiation treatments for 39 weekdays in a row. Thank you if you can help me.
I hope you see this but consider trying Niacinamide (such at The Ordinary niacinamide) and if it’s still very dry, I would try using plain old Vaseline at night before bedtime (“slugging”). I know she has other videos on hyperpigmentation so I would try searching for those bec she likely has many other suggestions)! Glad you’re doing well!
I just purchased the newer Pixi Clarity tonic. It contains glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acids. And fragrance free! I’m really enjoying it so far and it doesn’t leave a film on my skin like the PC BHA. 👍
Paula’s choice leaves a film because of the things in there to help peel the top and yet protect the skin from active damage. It also smooths so you can moisturize and makeup right on top without getting little rolling balls of product which could give an annoyingly uneven finished face. It seems to make pores smaller. I’ve been unhappy with similar-type products from other makers for that very reason.
Hi Dr Dray, although I'm not prone to milia I want to reassure people with sensitive skin that they can use retinoids. I have both rosacea and eczema prone skin which can be hypersensitive, but I worked my way up slowly and carefully to my current regime of tretinoin 0.05% on alternate nights to my azelaic acid. This is keeping my rosacea controlled although occasionally if I have a product reaction (despite patch testing), I have to skip both for a few days. It took a long time and careful preparation to get to this stage, but the results have been so worth it. It's worth a try, but be very cautious initially. Best wishes.
@@IdlanRafiqi I had the same issue and couldn’t tolerate tretinoin every time I tried it in the past. I did some research and discovered that niacinamide can help reduce irritation. I would use 10% niacinamide serum in the morning and night for a month before I started using tretinoin again, and it actually worked! My peeling is now minimal after the purging stage. The niacinamide serum made all the difference. So now, I just use the 10% niacinamide serum in the morning along with spf 50, and 0.1% tretinoin at night.
I have milia on my eyelines. I think probably the source would be an eyeliner I was trying out. I went to a dermatologist. I visited with a PA but she wouldn’t remove the milia. What she did want to do is sell me Epionce products and do a facial peel. She said I needed to visit an opthamalogist or optrician for removal. I pricked it myself using a mega magifying glass. It’s difficult to find a good dermatologist. Thanks so much for your blogs!
It's not unusual for a dermatologist to defer to an ophthalmologist. It's too dangerous & they don't need a lawsuit. Similar situation in my past. Trust me you'll feel better with the ophthalmologist doing the job.
I’ve used prescription based retinoid and yeah they were gone but I also experienced some dryness which wasn’t that bad and resolved with moisturiser. I also physically removed some of them with a sterile needle but do as Dr dray says guys don’t try to remove them yourself unless you’re familiar with it.
Paulas choice has been a game changer for my acne prone skin!!! start slow folks. Now after weeks of using I can use 4x a week no prob but at first I was only using 1x a week. I do not have rosacea.
For the last two years I have had a milia form near my Moh's surgery scar on the right side of my nose. Luckily because of skin cancer I have to see the dermatologist every year...and he has removed them...❤
I have sensitive skin and was able to acclimate my skin to Tretinoin 0.05 by going very slowly, one night a week for a month, then two nights a week for a month etc. until I got up to every night. Your recommendation to moisturize first was very helpful.
VIDEO IDEA: How to make your skin absorb better! Really dealing with this problem. And I mean beside putting on damp skin and massaging. My skin really has a problem ... due to ... keratinization ... I guess.
i woke up w it ober night and i’ve never had it before, i was so confused and immediately googled what it was and now i have no clue what to do, thank you!
I have just decided to use Differin and a BHA cream everyday ( not on the same day ) on my milia that's on my upper eyelids , but only on the milia itself using a q-tip since she adviced to not use those on the eyelids. I hope it works.
Thank you for your great suggestions Dr. Dray! You’re my favorite! I have been using adapolene under my mask. I work in a hospital and the 13 hour mask wearing shifts were giving me milia due to all the moisture under the mask. I know I should probably be wearing sunscreen even though I work indoors
The DermaE product sounds great. Maybe only on the areas where I have the milia, but no roseacea symptoms. So happy it's cruelty free. Thank you for this video Dr. Dray. It's such a great topic.
Hannah Lima I have very sensitive skin and I have tried using it every day but my skin gets a a bit dry (I have oily skin). So it works better for me when I use it twice a week or when I break out only, I don’t get dryness that way :)
I’ve always removed mine exactly the way you describe a derm would do it. No scarring, no infection. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you don’t know what you’re doing but I’ve been doing it for over 30 years.
Not Your Mother's Mom I have milia too for over a decade around my eye, one under the brow bone, one near the nose, and one on the eyelid. My dermatologist gave me a lancet and said I could do it at home myself. But I'm afraid to try it. The one on the eyelid, I could never push in. I was hoping if I nicked it, it would drain over time. Have you taken them off on the eye, any advice?
I use the Exuviance Peel pads and to get more use, I cut the pads in half, place the unused half back in the packet and store in plastic baggie. A half pad is more than sufficient.
I am so happy to find this video! I am a 59-year-old who started having milia pop up over the past couple of years, mainly on the cheeks. I didn't have a lot of help from my dermatologist. I cannot have a 7-day downtime in my job with a deep peel. My question is this. For my dry skin, do I use these products in conjunction with my daily creams and serums? I use Cera Ve to cleanse, RoC serum and cream and an eye cream daily. I am just so ready to see something get rid of the milia! Thank you!
Happy Wednesday, Dr Dray! I have these under my eyes. Are the products safe to use there? Thanks for addressing this issue. So frustrating to have these. I hope you have a beautiful evening. 💖
I had 2 bumps on my cheek that seemed to get slightly bigger one day I was feed up grabbed a sterilized needle broke the skin and squeezed the contents with Qtips. Flawless foundation once again.
Thank you so much for this informative video!!! Only recently I began exploring skincare in general and trying to get rid of my milia (I am 30 and up until recently did the bare minimum of cleaning my face from make up and before bed- nothing else...) I think that other then exfoliating, moisturizing and sunscreen, what helped was softening the skin, or softening/ loosening the certain build up- I use Aloe Vera gel and propolis creams and once I began it notably improved the dissolution of milia. Wonder if it makes sense, or just a coincidence.
I use Amlactin lotion to help exfoliate the milia away from my eye area including the lid (even though it’s not recommended 🤷♀️). I take a cotton swab and dab the teeny tiniest bit of lotion directly on the milia and nowhere else. Do not spread it around. I do this 3-4 times/week until it’s gone. I also use a washcloth in the shower to gently exfoliate the eye area to help the process. Some go away in a week or two. Some take longer.
I've been using the Paulas Choice BHA for about 3 weeks and just realized that a milia that I had under my eye has disappeared. I'm guessing the BHA helped.
Great video. My derm just removed one on my neck and I had one on my face a while back. I asked about them and the derm told me the name of it and showed me what it looked like after removing it, but never once bothered to tell me how to possibly prevent them or anything. This was helpful.
Thank you for this. Finally there's a video from someone I can trust. I have been facing this problem since late teens and still they pop up sometimes, mostly around eyes and nose, sometimes on cheeks, although chemical exfoliation has helped but I never get rid of them completely. Plus, they go away in such a long time.
@@user-dd9gd8yo6k hey! I have dry skin and here in India it's started to get cold and my skin is extra sensitive now so I don't chemically exfoliate my skin much because then I face redness. But in summers, I exfoliated my skin and had very little milia spots, yes it works but takes time. Also, I haven't used products with retinol, that's best when it comes to getting rid of milia.
What product do you use?? Because I had these since middle school 🥲 And I wanna get rid of them. Especially when I’m taking pic or anything it makes me insecure. And I hate it. Plss
Hi Dr Dray! I was wondering if you would do a video on how to take care of the skin on the ears. Mainly yeast overgrowth and seborrheic dermatitis on the ears. How to treat it and get it to stay away. Are there things to do daily (besides sunscreen) to keep the skin on the ears healthy? Thank you!
Thank you for making this video, I’m a nurse and now I’m getting Milia where the mask touches my skin and I’ve had acne there for months and now it’s turned into white hard bumps.

*Could you also make a video on what ingredients to avoid for milia. I have dry skin so I need a good moisturizer but sometimes rich, thick, heavy moisturizers cause milia and it gets difficult to point out what ingredient causes it*
I get milia from severe allergic reactions when my eyelids get all flaky. I didn’t know that people can get them from peels and exfoliating but it makes sense.
I have rosacea & started with Adapalene then went to prescription RetinA slowly & working from once a week on up. Doing fine but I also apply my moisturizer 1st then RetinA

I'm sorry I pray you're doing well
@@elizabethc3842 Thank you, I am doing well so far. :) The dirty neck look has finally gone away and Aquaphor seems to have helped it and the dryness.
I was thinking of purchasing that Pixi product but they don’t disclose the active percentages. 🤷🏼♀️
How do you keep rosacea and eczema at bay? Using Retinoid?
@@IdlanRafiqi I had the same issue and couldn’t tolerate tretinoin every time I tried it in the past. I did some research and discovered that niacinamide can help reduce irritation. I would use 10% niacinamide serum in the morning and night for a month before I started using tretinoin again, and it actually worked! My peeling is now minimal after the purging stage. The niacinamide serum made all the difference. So now, I just use the 10% niacinamide serum in the morning along with spf 50, and 0.1% tretinoin at night.
Hi Dr. Dray. I have milia very close to my eyes on the outside corners. Can any of these products be used near the eyes? Do you have a recommendation?
How long did it take ?
Paulas choice has been a game changer for my acne prone skin!!! start slow folks. Now after weeks of using I can use 4x a week no prob but at first I was only using 1x a week. I do not have rosacea.
Hi Dr. Dray, since you mentioned retinol, can you review Olay's Retinol 24 please? Thank you!
What product is best for Milia UNDER EYES? Ty in advance
VIDEO IDEA: How to make your skin absorb better! Really dealing with this problem. And I mean beside putting on damp skin and massaging. My skin really has a problem ... due to ... keratinization ... I guess.
Having the same issue
i woke up w it ober night and i’ve never had it before, i was so confused and immediately googled what it was and now i have no clue what to do, thank you!
just the video i needed!!! my milia is so stubborn 😭 just when i think it’s gone it comes right back
Do u still have it if not what did u use
I have just decided to use Differin and a BHA cream everyday ( not on the same day ) on my milia that's on my upper eyelids , but only on the milia itself using a q-tip since she adviced to not use those on the eyelids. I hope it works.
Thank you for your great suggestions Dr. Dray! You’re my favorite! I have been using adapolene under my mask. I work in a hospital and the 13 hour mask wearing shifts were giving me milia due to all the moisture under the mask. I know I should probably be wearing sunscreen even though I work indoors
Same
hey :) how much adapolene did u apply to the milia? conservatively, moderately, or generously spot treating?
K bc my
Dry brushing has helped me very much followed by castor oil. Check out dry brushing!
I have milia under my eyes, are those products safe for under the eyes? Thanks for the recommendation!
The DermaE product sounds great. Maybe only on the areas where I have the milia, but no roseacea symptoms. So happy it's cruelty free.
Thank you for this video Dr. Dray. It's such a great topic.
The Paulas choice BHA is a great product. I only use it when I’m breaking out and it really does help a lot.
I love the PC BHA 9%. have used it on the milia and seems to help
Why don’t you use it all the time vs. only after breakouts occur?
Hannah Lima I have very sensitive skin and I have tried using it every day but my skin gets a a bit dry (I have oily skin). So it works better for me when I use it twice a week or when I break out only, I don’t get dryness that way :)
Hi Dr. Dray! Please recommend a product for use under the eyes. Thank you. You're a blessing!
Thank you for this!!!! My acne is finally gone for now but now I get milia all the time
Same
I’ve always removed mine exactly the way you describe a derm would do it.
Michele Gibbons didn’t Dr Dray suggest this n one of her videos?
Thank you so much for this video!! Mine are awful, and I've never known what to use to get rid of the milia. Now I do 😊
could you talk about undereye bumbs that looks like milia but arent
I have this same problem too! I have no idea what it is and how to get rid of it and I have had it my whole adult life too.
I have these too
Could be sabaceous hyperplasia
Danielle Peterson do you know if she’s addressed this in past videos?
Dr Dray has a video on sebaceous hyperplasia. Just do a search for the video.
Thank you!
Do you have any thoughts on the difference between Adapalene and Tretinoin? Which one will work best for specific skin conditions?
Definitely thinking of getting mine (post laser x 1 yr) removed by my Derm. Exfoliating has helped some but not others.
Only recently I began exploring skincare in general and trying to get rid of my milia (I am 30 and up until recently did the bare minimum of cleaning my face from make up and before bed- nothing else...)
I think that other then exfoliating, moisturizing and sunscreen, what helped was softening the skin, or softening/ loosening the certain build up- I use Aloe Vera gel and propolis creams and once I began it notably improved the dissolution of milia. Wonder if it makes sense, or just a coincidence.
Thanks a ton for making this video but can you tell which of these products are safe to be use while breastfeeding
Thanks for this! I've been getting a lot of milia due to wearing a mask and it's been a real struggle
Yes same with me
same
Thanks so much for this. I've had milia for the past two years and I cannot ever get rid of it. Hopefully one of these products will help! TY
I noticed an increase in milia under the eyes (on top of my cheekbones) after I had started to use petrolatum for the periorbital area overnight
Stop using it it's greasy texture oilness helps milia to grow and those keratin bumps easily grow look like small milia by using this
I'm so impressed with what you know and appreciate that you suggest over the counter and affordable products.
Dr. Dray, could the Differin gel be used under as well as on top of the eyelids because that is the two main places they seem to pop up?
Did you use the Paula's choice bha on your under eye area? Asking because my that's the location of my concern.
Yes, I used under my eyes
@@mrssnips1 where u buy this product
How many times a week did you use it? Pls answer
Great video. My derm just removed one on my neck and I had one on my face a while back. I asked about them and the derm told me the name of it and showed me what it looked like after removing it, but never once bothered to tell me how to possibly prevent them or anything. This was helpful.
what did your derm do to remove it? :)
@@sabrinapalmer-smith5827 she took a tiny little tool and cut and extracted it. It was near where my clothes were rubbing it and bothering me.
Did it end up working
@@user-dd9gd8yo6k hey! I have dry skin and here in India it's started to get cold and my skin is extra sensitive now so I don't chemically exfoliate my skin much because then I face redness.
But in summers, I exfoliated my skin and had very little milia spots, yes it works but takes time.
Also, I haven't used products with retinol, that's best when it comes to getting rid of milia.
@@mansimehrotra6463 which chemical exfoliater did u used
What product do you use??
Because I had these since middle school 🥲 And I wanna get rid of them. Especially when I’m taking pic or anything it makes me insecure. And I hate it. Plss
Thank you so much for this video, Dr. Dray!! I have been wanting to learn more about milia from you for quite some time.
Hi Dr Dray! I was wondering if you would do a video on how to take care of the skin on the ears. Mainly yeast overgrowth and seborrheic dermatitis on the ears. How to treat it and get it to stay away. Are there things to do daily (besides sunscreen) to keep the skin on the ears healthy? Thank you!
Dr Dray has a video on how to get rid blackheads on the ear. Maybe that might help.
Hi Dr. Dray, do you know any lotion can help with syringoma? Thank you!
Thank you for making this video, I’m a nurse and now I’m getting Milia where the mask touches my skin and I’ve had acne there for months and now it’s turned into white hard bumps.
Good day Dr.Dray thank you love your informative information have a lovely blessed day
Happy Wednesday dr Dray and everyone this was so helpful. I have this and never really knew how to treat it . Have a wonderful day love to mom and Tybee 😍😍
Hi dr dray!!! You are such an amazing and informative youtuber ! I was really wanting to know your opinion on the Lily Sado Tea+ C green tea and vitamin C moisturizer. Thank you for all that you do 😊
How though do you use these products when milia are on eyelids or around eye?
Thanks so much! I follow your pieces of advice and the products turn out to be amazing! Cant thank you enough for cerave and cetaphil recommendations in your previous videos.
*Could you also make a video on what ingredients to avoid for milia. I have dry skin so I need a good moisturizer but sometimes rich, thick, heavy moisturizers cause milia and it gets difficult to point out what ingredient causes it*
ingredients dont cause these...that is a myth i see perpetuated...they occur spontaneously or from skin injury
@@DrDrayzday okay, thank you so much doctor❤️

@@DrDrayzday i have them on my eyelids. Could that be from rubbing my eyes a lot??
I get milia from severe allergic reactions when my eyelids get all flaky. I didn’t know that people can get them from peels and exfoliating but it makes sense.
I only have one spot of milia above my eyelid...hopefully I can get rid of it.
I have milia on my eyelids only..could u make a video for eyelids only? Thank you
Thank you Dr dray, I’ve had these under my eyes, and they look awful! Double win video!! Much love to your mom& Tybee!🐾🌹
they are pesky
@melindapavlich I feel you.Mine are really bad and when I apply concealer it just looks awful.
Thanks for the info. In addition to helping get rid of milia, would you recommend one of these products in particular for adult acne?
Hi Dr. Dray! How does your mascara not smear when you use sunscreen under your eyes?
Try setting powder
I have rosacea & started with Adapalene then went to prescription RetinA slowly & working from once a week on up. Doing fine but I also apply my moisturizer 1st then RetinA
Thanks for all you do! Great information as always. I’ve enjoyed all your videos and my skin is thanking you too!! Have a great day 💜
Thank you Dr. Dray for this video! I’ve had these my whole life and thought they were white heads too!
