I'm on total agreement regarding the western shirts being the better shirt with Ironheart. I always go for UES if I'm after a workshirt. Great video, as always. Happy New Year and hope you're better after the COVID 👍
I replace the buttons on my IH work shirts because I also have the issue with the chest button popping open. It’s not a big job. 15mm buttons fit the holes just fine and don’t come undone.
Love me some IH shirts. Just picked up the 21oz Sashiko at my local Self Edge shop. Such a beautiful tank of a shirt. Can’t wait to start braking it in. Happy New Year!
I like the westerns much better from iron heart. Primarily because of their prices. Both the Western, and Work shirts are pretty similarly priced, but the Western's just have the extra yoke details, the better cut, and the nicer snaps. It's almost a no brainer if you're spending 300+ on a shirt.
Awesome vid Cam. I also own both the 332 SAX and the summer flannel. And yes, the 332 SAX is amazing! It was my go to in a rainy visit to Seattle Washington. BUT, this summer flannel really shined for me in cool breezy spring nights on the beaches of LA. I would keep it and pair with a pair of chinos or lighter denim. Give it some thought.
@@CameronOwondering, I know this maybe sacrilege 😂 but have you had any experience with tailoring iron heart uhf shirts? I currently own 4 and they fit great barring some small details (arm length mainly) I’d imagine it would need to be a very skilled tailor to keep the details looking stock. If you have any suggestion would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance brother keep crushing👊
Appreciate the content. I’ve bought a couple of those off the back of your reviews in the past. Great to see them age and your experience over time. Would be good to see a similar video on other brands or items you have. Happy New Year.
Thanks for another great vid. You’ve been a big inspiration and I’ve ended up getting quite a few things you’ve reviewed and more! I think the thinner flannel looks pretty good on you personally, as do the others. I love heritage wear but the problem I have is that I increasingly lean towards iron heart ahead of other brands these days. Wardrobe monopoly!
Hello, I agree with you, the last shirt doesn't fit at all. I'm like you, I like heavy shirts, with substance, and a T-shirt underneath, it's perfect. I've noticed that all the Iron Heart shirts are of excellent quality. I've since stopped buying a lot of clothes and only buy one piece every now and then for my wardrobe and almost everything now comes from Iron Heart. Thanks for the great video.
Great vid! And I agree that the buttons need to be bigger in the flannels. Like, sometimes they slip out of the button holes when they stretch a bit because they are so small vs the snaps that are strong and hearty. I also found that I’m a large in the work shirts and an XL in the western. Cheers mate!
The military serge western is my favourite of your collection. Looks great I struggle with Ironheart shirts. I'm too broad shouldered. The two I have a Xl and XXl and neither have enough room in the shoulders The XXl I'm struggling to identify. It's black denim in a work cut but has snap. Inside it has orange stitching
I really like how the 9oz one looks on you and I wish they did all the work shirts with snaps too the ombre uhfs are my favourite Ih items beside the xhs denim and when i wear them together i feel like a bulletproof G63 wagon 😂
I have 5 Iron Heart shirts 2 flannel, 2 Serge Western and 1 Dobby Cloth Workshirt Sashiko. The only one i regret is the Sashiko which I bought used... Absolutely love Iron Heart Western shirt..
Great video, Picked up some older uhf on sale and the 21oz sashiko work shirts this year. Will be in Japan next year and will definitely stock up on some denim and shirts without the western markup👌
@@kingstrumper531you can pick up iron heart jeans for around £150 although yen is currently pretty low I think. But they don’t have all the cuts we have over here. Uhfs sell out very quickly there too
Well I’ll take the shirt. I wear a large in all IH tops. I have two of those shirts in your collection, cool to see someone else who shares my obsession.
Great video as always ! I might have missed something but what happened to the black herringbone UHF ? Did you get rid of it ? Personnaly i own 3 shirt from IH, a 10oz Chambray, a Waffle shirt and the military serge one in light brown. I agree that the military serge one is really great, it's my favourite from the IH shirts i own
It usually depends on the measurements and fabric for me. Black overdyed Denim and wabash i have in westerns. You can definitely see fading on the elbows and sleeves. I had a kersey in western but probably would have preferred a a workshirt because it got really warm being slightly trimmer than usual sizing. I do have a slubby flannel western. My other shirts are work shirts an UHF and an 9oz ombre flannel. Fading wise i like the Wabash best, texture wise i like the look of the alubby flannel and the ombre flannel comfort wise.
I used to have a lovely UHF work shirt (Return of the Purps!) but sold it on. What I discovered was that it was too hot for summer wear, evenings included, and not warm enough for winter. I live in a place that has about a 60°C range from summer to winter. Wool for the cold, and lighter weight cottons for the summers, which means I may be looking at those 9 ounce units…
Interesting. It’s around -5 Celsius here. I’ve been layering a thermal waffle knit under an uhf and have n1 deck jacket on top. Absolutely toasty . If I’m pretty active outside, like chopping up Xmas tree I can just wear the thermal and UHF
@@joshuaholmes101 Though I don’t sweat much, I seem to very quickly build a skim of it when I’m wearing cotton. If it’s warm, no problem, but if it’s cool or cold I’ll quickly get chilled and stay that way. I kinda run cold anyway and need wool next to me in 3 out of 4 seasons.
I think they’ve changed the buttons on the work shirts now due to the issue you flagged. I bought a shirt from Rivet and Hide and the button came loose and was off within a couple of weeks. They told me to sew it back on myself 😂
The buttons on my 9oz flannel are very loose. Ive re stitched a few of them. When i first got it, it felt loose and not what i wanted. However, since ive washed it, its shrunk a bit and tightened up. It now feels much better. Currently i have 8 Iron Heart shirts, it kind of annoys me now as like others have said, i mainly ignore other brands now especially for shirts.
I have the tonal denim shirt IHSH33-T and a UHF myself and I love them both. I am a little taller and a bit lighter than you are and I really appreciate the extra sleeve length on most Iron Heart shirts! 🤣 guess it’s hard to be all things to all people. What’s your favorite of their cuts for denim jeans?
I’ve tried all the cuts and for me it’s 888. I get to wear them in my proper waist size and can just about squeeze my thighs in. Prefer the tapered look to the classic 634 which also fits my thighs. All other cuts I have to size up on waist because of thigh issue so have ended up ditching them
Petty sure IH added another hole to the buttons on future releases. The boxy cut on the Iron Heart work shirts is not ideal, but a long wash on hot seems to help alot. Also, those work shirts look great on camera - i would try to find some buttons u like and swap them out. Don't think the difference is as drastic as you argue (between western and work) but agree the western's fit better. New buttons (or snaps even!) on the work shirts may do the trick.
I literally thought the same thing when i watched it all back that they don't look that bad. I guess it's me overthinking the fit or how it feels on me.
I have both. You can see where the additional expense goes on an Ironheart but the differences are marginal. Personally I find the fit much better for a work shirt on the UES. For reference I'm size 4 on UES and either Xl or XXl on Ironheart
@zatarawood3588 hey mate. I'm a 42 inch chest and a 36 inch waist. My problem with ironheart sizes is never the chest or waist though, it's the shoulders. A tailor once told me I have the shoulders of someone with a 46 inch chest (I.e. I'm out of proportion). Ironheart are typically a little ungenerous in the shoulders compared to western brands. As a result for things with no give like shirts, I need to size up. The shirts I have I'm always an L in western sizes like RRL. The exception being Rogue Territory where I have to take XL. For none shirts like T shirts and sweaters, the shoulder thing is less of an issue so I'm L in western like Nigel Cabourn and Merz B and XL in Japanese like Ironheart and Studio D'Artisan. The only exception is Wonderlooper, which is japanese but has a western sizing so I wear L Hope that helps

Deck Jacket is Black. Its a few seasons old. This year they did it in all black including the lining whereas mine isn't
Nice video of your IH shirts, but where is the ranking?
Interesting it's kersey yet cotton, I thought kersey was wool.

Do you double denim very often then? And is it an ok look?
Not often, only really if they contrast like in the vid, super faded jeans with a new denim shirt
