This monomag is not commercially available, it was a DIY job from a friend in Greece. However QTC did a monomag and sideplate for 7HT, but they are quite hard to come by in used condition at present, but I also hear that Zzeta tuning are doing a mag system for 7HT mag.
The mag looks a touch small, worried it might not be enough braking but will find out tomorrow, plus I can probably still take the knob, move mag tiny bit closer to the spool, and refit knob.

Maybe that's an N42 neo? Changing to or adding an N52 mag that's the same size or a wee bit stouter in diameter could do the trick if that mag doesn't oblige enuf braking.

What model Ambassadeurs do you recommend for mono mags? I have several but the magnet does not work on them. I was bummed. I just got it from way over there in the UK. I didn't really think the whole process through, but I'd like to get it to work. Thank You.

@@djrmonix the spools alone arent available? Even from over yonder across the pond. I haven’t found any online. I thought about using a stainless steel washer from work.

Why does the magnet not work? As long as its a metal spool it will work. Aluminium etc. It doesnt need to be steel etc. If you were to hold the magnet against the spool it doesnt need to stick or have any kind of magentic attraction. It works by a metal conductor moving in a magnetic field causes eddy currents and slows it down repelling the magnetic field. Lenz's law or something.
@@djrmonix I just watched Eddy current/Lenz's law videos. You're a life saver, man. I've been selling stuff and saving up for a century rod. I began to contemplate buying a reel that would work with the magnet I ordered instead. So the models you recommended are just ones that you like? I'll have to look at the spools again. I think one of them has a plastic cover. But I have another that has the aluminum exposed. I'll just have to remove the level wind on the other instead. Thank You.
That's a neat side plate. I need to figure out how to mono mag a 6HM.

@@djrmonix Thanx Stevie, I already got the mag from Kwang, just need to carefully figure where to drill the holes. Got time, two feet of snow and too damn cold. :) :(

No a friend just made it himself and maybe he upgraded to qtc plate or something and sent me it. Dont think he makes them just a one off.
