Life is too short to pretend you hate Taylor Swift on a personal level, or any artist really 😅 It's completely normal and okay to like some of an artist's music and not like other songs/albums. 90% of the songs in my library are by artists who I don't listen to their full discography because I don't like a lot of their music, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's not 2016 anymore, hating Taylor stopped being cool a long time ago.

Loved that you loved it! Just so you know, there are three songs on this album that are linked together with three different points of view. Cardigan is Betty's POV, the song August is the other girl's POV, and the song Betty is James POV. Taylor wrote them as a teenage love triangle. As a Taylor Swift fan, we all had so much fun listening to the full album and trying to figure out the three songs that were linked together. She's a master at songwriting and lyrics. When you listen to her songs it's like a short story, and you hang on every word to hear the rest of the story. Through the years, from age 16 to 30 her voice has continued to evolve and it's so soft and beautiful in this album, which allowed her to showcase it more than ever before. Her pop albums are great too, you would probably like Reputation and should give that a review after Folklore. Just want to say thank you for giving her a chance! I'll subscribe and keep watching!
The other cool thing about the album is that it’s all intertwined. Even the ones that aren’t in the teenage love triangle mention of hint to others. The stories behind the songs become muddled just like folk songs.

Tears Ricochet is beautiful you should react to that, it’s about what happened with her previous record label, how she doesn’t own her masters, because Scooter Brown bought her last record label, and he owns all her previous albums, a man that Taylor hate, for all the Kim/Kanye drama, an his solution was that Taylor have to buy her OWN songs, so Taylor just left her songs to him. And it was really sad because Taylor co-produce and wrote every song, and Scott Brocheta (the one who sold the record label to Brown) was really close to Taylor, so she felt betrayed
His solution was not that she should buy her masters, he didn't give her the chance to buy them. He wanted her to resign with Big Machine. He was going to give her one of her old records for every new one she wrote, which fuck that. She left so she could own her new music and she will be rerecording her old music to own them too.

She was never given the opportunity to own her masters without resigning and having to put her music back in the pocket of big machine. I can't wait for her to re record so excited. I thought I should explain the cardigan mv, I included the plot, Easter eggs, and something I haven’t figured out but I think means something. It’s important to know that almost everything Taylor does is purposeful and she leaves hints towards stuff everywhere. I’m terrible at wording things but I think Taylor made a video dissecting it. So basically the first scene is her at the beginning of her career it’s a home Because she’s comfortable and there aren’t many horrible things coming at her, this could also be determined as the very beginning of a a relationship when you are first meeting someone. The Easter eggs I can remember off the top of my head are the clock has a 1 and 3 (13 is her favorite number), there is a portrait of her grandfather (mentioned in epiphany), and there is a Painting she made of a house looking like her Rhode Island mansion (the story of which is told in The last great American dynasty). The plants scene with all the Growth is her in 1989 era, or the height of a relationship; everything is going well. Next she’s surrounded by an ocean, she’s drowning in what most likely symbolizes hate, this would be the end of the relationship. The reason she’s still wet at the end is she is still affected by her past, but she’s moved on. A line I think represents this well is from her poem “Why She Disappeared ”, it states “without your past, you could never have arrived- so wondrously and brutally, by design or violent exquisite happenstance, ...here. And in the death of her reputation she felt truly alive”. I liked what you said with the piano part; music is what saves her from all these circumstances. The thing I haven’t figured out is the waterfall; however I believe that represents that she was getting hate, but she could filter through it and thrive off of it (hence why there was so much greenery). Also my top 6 from the album are Exile, My tears Ricochet, August, This is me trying, hoax, and the lakes. My favorite songs off other albums are Mary’s song and Tied together with a smile (debut), forever and always and breathe (fearless), last kiss and haunted (speak now, also she wrote this album entirely on her own at 19), All too well and holy ground (RED), clean and wildest dreams (1989), New Year’s Day and getaway car (reputation), and Cornelia street and Cruel summer (lover). Hi, i just wanted to mention a few more easter eggs in the mv. In the first scene in the background you can see a teal shirt which she refers to in 'invisible string', there are 2 candles burning on the piano in the home scene which signifies that 'cardigan' is the 2nd track on her album. the painting of the house is a reference to her 3rd track 'last great american dynasty' which talks about her Rhode Island home and its history and the other paintings above the piano could be a reference to 'peace' in which the line is 'you paint dreamscapes on the wall' . the golden shimmer/ sparkle/ pixie dust coming out of the piano is a reference to the delicate mv where the same shimmer/ sparkle/ pixie dust comes out of the note; she also has the same look at the end of the cardigan mv which she had in the delicate mv. the dust also refers 'Peter loosing Wendy' both of which are characters in Peter Pan where they use pixie dust to fly.

Some other evidence for this is that in cardigan Betty says things she knew when she was young, however in Betty James says “I’m only 17 I don’t know anything but I know I miss you”. Also Betty and August are both written from the perspectives of the girls when they are grown up, where Betty is written from James perspective in the current moment; again the girls moved on but James stayed immature.
