They're going to try to recapture lightning in a bottle with a whole new generation and they can't do that by focusing on "old people". It's going to be another tween drama like the original. 90's are going to watch it because they'll be watching for the original cast and the new generation is going to watch because.....their parents are hogging the TV.

I'm 31 now and I grew up watching this show. By me being so close to Cory Shawn and Topanga ages the things they went through on this show I could really relate to. Like the everday school life, the problems with parents and teachers, the frienships, the social class of nerds and cool kids, the cool big brother that got all the girls, and the teen age love. Man this brings back memories.

So make us NEED Girl Meets World like we needed Boy Meets World and nobody will be sorry

personally I hate the fact that girl meets world will be airing on Disney channel. Like I'm sorry but it's that the case the show won't have real life family values we can actually relate to like how we did and still do with boy meets world. Plus it's probably going to have cheesy acting and joke. From the shows that currently air on Disney channel the sitcoms they have poor over acting nothing really natural. I personally think the reason the 90s sitcom lasted so many season were because it didn't feel like a show it felt like real life situations we can actually relate to. If Girl Meets World can have the same standards, acting, and real like relatable joke and life situation then yeah I believe it can last for many seasons to come not just 2 or 3 tops then be done with it. but it it's going to have retarded cheesy story lines like the shows currently playing on Disney channel then sorry it wont do good in ratings.
My one glimmer of hope that it won't be like today's lame Disney channel shows is that Michael Jacobs came back as producer. I've seen plenty of interviews with him about his views on Boy Meets World. He made it the perfect 90's show. So here's hoping he's able to recreate that, regardless of what channel it's on.

One that's enjoyable for all ages even the ones like me and people older than me that grew up watching Boy Meets World, cause I promise we are probably going to be the ones looking more forward to the spin off than kids today lol
100% agree. I know tons of people that grew up with Boy Meets World that are incredibly anxious for Girl Meets World. If it turns out to be like today's stereotypical Disney crap that focuses on lame comedy than the real life lessons that came with BMW, a lot of 90s kids are gonna be pissed.
boy meets world started out really cheesy until the characters grew up and went to college.
this isnt for you, its for the next generation to experience something you already have, and grow along side a show you could relate to your whole childhood as well as your young adult lives.
maybe that will happen here. it could captivate the world again and have it evolve with the new generation.
Yes the earlier seasons were "cheesy" but the acting talent of the young cast was far superior than what we see now with Disney shows. Far better comedic timing and versatility.

it seems like a lot of people don't like Girl meets World as well as they liked Boy Meets world - those of us who grew up watching boy meets world aren't going to feel the same about girl meets world, which is the way it should be - Girl Meets world is not for us, but for our children. I watch it with my girls only to see returning cast members.

When we remove nostalgia (I know, impossible) and look at Girl Meets World as what it's intended to be (a family-comedy for today's youth and their families), it's a pretty decent show.
One unique thing about GMW is that we old fellas see it from the perspective of Cory. It feels like we are part of the mentoring to our young.

The best part about this show is that I watched the first season only when I was a young boy, and then when I was like 14-15, I found the second season, and so on until today where I finished the final season last year. It’s like I grew up alongside Cory Matthews. Now, I’m going to college to be a middle school teacher because I’ve been inspired by Mr. Feeny. I owe this show a lot, really!

Okay, I just wanna clear some things up. We all know Girl meets world is different, but remember this: IT IS IN IT'S FIRST SEASON. It'll probably find it's eventual voice at some or find it's footing, but you have to understand, this is not our show anymore. It's theirs. and as hard it is to accept that, that's their intention behind it.
If you go back and look at the first season of BMW, it was still trying to find it's way before it became what its' best known for. Then BAM! starting in season 2 and 3, it hit its stride.
It's not the only show to have gone through that. People already felt the same way with Degrassi the next generation in it's first season and it succeeded as well, now people today talk about how they miss Emma and all of them. While it may be not as good as BMW, Michael Jacobs has made it clear that you can't compare an entire series to only one season of a spin-off. Ben Savage even said it's not a BMW sequel, It's a new show for new generation. If you keep comparing it, you're going against Michael's wishes of what he intends to do with it. Which if he read these comments, he would probably frown upon you.
You can decide If you want to be fan or not,you have a choice, but you have to at least respect where it's going now and not compare it to what it once was.

Here is an Idea for an Episode: "Girl Meets Philly"
They should have an Episode where the family goes back to Philly to visit Amy, Alan, and Josh.
I would be pretty cool, if they could use the old house. Cory and Topanga could show Riley around, giving us Boy Meets World fans a trip down memory lane. They should make it 2 episodes to fit everything in.
After that they can have Josh move in with Cory and Topanga (maybe he has some scholarship to a big shot private school in NY). Maybe the reason they go to Philly is so that can pick up Josh.
This could lead to awkward moments between Riley Maya and Uncle Josh.
Josh and Farkle could be the Cory and Minkus of old. Maybe they fight over Maya.
There is a lot of potential ideas that can come from a visit to Philly, and Josh moving in with Cory and Topanga.

well in season 2 the writers said they will merge the girl meets world with boy meets world more, season 1 was just like an intro to the girl's world. Eric is making an appearance in season 2 and mr feeny and they will be returning to philly.
I like the idea of Josh coming to NYU to study and maybe allow the relationship with Maya to develop. However, I want Josh to become an older brother figure to Riley. There were plans for the family to have an elder son but the character was cut. Josh is perfect for that role.
Sounds like a great idea!
And I think Josh may be in more episodes because (SPOILER) Josh is taking the summer program at NYU and so maybe he will move in with Cory and Topanga for the summer.

Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World have two very different feelings. Boy Meets World had many LOL moments but it also had very subtle and (a few not so subtle) life lessons taught from Feeny, Eric, and the whole gang. They covered heavy topics like interracial relationships, drinking, cheating, breaking up. But in Girl Meets World, they have very direct life lessons and because of Disney, I don't think they'll be able to cover more of the heavy topics which they should because it could really teach these new generations and help them grow as Boy Meets World fans did. (Girl Meets World should be on ABC)
Which is why I'm kind of hoping that Girl Meets World gets picked up elsewhere (unfortunately, Netflix just announced they won't be picking it up). I feel like the show has untapped potential and that the show was screwed when it was picked up by Disney Channel. It could've done a lot of the hard-hitting topics like Boy Meets World did (although it did cover topics like autism and cyberbullying).
Yeah, even Cory and Shawn's friendship were shown by actions more than words, and they showed us how deep their relationship are without so obvious words coming out of their mouths, like they actually knew exactly how important they are to each other without having to say it out loud like Riley and Maya. They just made us know right away that nothing can break their friendship, no matter what the situation is, just by showing it, no words needed to be said between them.
Riley and Maya's friendship was just as close as Cory and Shawn, but I think they were being too direct with words too much. It's like they always need to tell each other about how important they are to one another, it's like they are being quite explicit about their friendship in the future, I mean, sure, Cory and Shawn were afraid that their friendship would change after Cory was married, but they still knew that their friendship were strong enough to not be broken by just a marriage of two people. I mean, they were best friends since they were 5 years old, and have been together to high school, so why would they have to always tell each other the importance of one another are, don't their best friend know that already? And I really need to see these girls being separate from each other sometimes, look at Cory and Shawn, they were always together, but there were times where they play with other people and do other things too, but they still knew they still have each other, the girls need to learn about that. I think, it would be good if Cory and Shawn tell them that, but they, themselves, should know that by themselves.

The most fa-nominal tv show in history. Growing up to this show was the best thing ever. It was clean, wholesome, taught good morals and life lessons, never thought different of Shawn and Angela and had everyone wanting to strive for a relationship like Cory and Topanga. Plus your parents could leave you alone to watch and not worry, but most didn't because they were there to watch with you. It's sad how far we've fallen since then....

I'm happy to see the old gang back together again and super excited that a spin off series is gonna be made. This was and is still my favorite TGIF show from back then. I still watch the reruns afternoons on MTV 2. I hope they all get to be featured in this new series especially Rider ! He and Ben's friendship is what made the show memorable. I know any true BMW fan has been dying to know what happened to Shawn after he moved with Cory and Topanga to NY !!
I'm hoping he becomes a regular/star again. The show was about Cory but when you read the descriptions for BMW they say Cory and his best friend Shawn so you can't really have Cory without Shawn. I just absolutely love Rider and want to see their bromance again. I think it would be good to have episodes half with the daughter going through her stuff and Cory, Topanga and Shawn going through their stuff now that their older.
TheNukeCole I think so too they should have episodes with cory and shawn hanging out catching up on old times. Their friendship is what made the show so special and entertaining. True BMW fans who grew up watching the show need to see that happen to feel connected to the characters again. Also I'm dying to see a continuation of what happened on the Series Finale when Shawn was supposed to move with them to NY. They should atleast have an episode that picks up where the old show left off. Eric was supposed to move with Cory and topanga as well so they need to find a way to blend that storyline with the new ones like Shawn and Eric got a place together and moved out or something funny like that.
***** I don't know about Shawn and Eric living together but it would be good if like Eric has a girlfriend and Shawn still living on the same street as Cory so that they still can hang out and be at each others houses but Shawn can't be married...I just can't see him married. And yes references to the old BMW should be in the show even though younger kids might not get them. Shawn should not be married unless him and angela get back together but that would be a great story if the show got picked up for years....Otherwise he should be a bachelor. Even though in real life Rider just got married did u know ? geek Minkus and bully Harley Kiner are gonna make appearances as well so it seems like its gonna be good.

I was born I 96 so the show had already been on for years, but I have a vague memory of seeing it on Disney channel when I was about 8-9 years old. Didn't remember too much, to in a way seeing it now as an almost 18yearold made me somewhat nostalgic since I watched a little bit. Bare in mind that I am Norwegian and at that age I didn't know English all too well. However I am currently watching the whole show , every single episode, some are familiar to me some are not haha. But I must say I truly miss this in todays shows. This show is full of important life lessons about growing up, with all there is too it. I am so glad it's a spinoff to it, I am sure a lot of people who have never heard about the show will go back and give it a try. Even though I was born late in the 90's I still consider myself a 90's kid. Thank you for giving us this interview as well I have a funny feeling this will be one of my favorite shows , and I haven't watched it all! Lots of love

I’m rewatching this series for the first time and it’s crazy how many iconic lines/moments I remember. I think because of how many times I’d replay it in my head.(ie. lines/moments like “look at that shallow boy”) It has to be because of how many times I seen the reruns back then.

The original was good because the casting and the writing was good. They have part of the former. If they can get back some of the writers, I think Girl Meets World will be a success.

I had the biggest fixation on Danielle Fischel, when this show was on. I was SO pissed off when I missed the final episode, because I was attending a homecoming game at my high school! And, i'm pissed Topanga wasn't at this reunion. Anyway, this was one of my favorite shows. Had no idea there was such a cult following. Seems like it was one of those shows that flew under the radar.

I just realized that the guy who plays Jack (Matthew Lawrence) first and last name is the same last names use for Cory and Topanga's last names (Cory Matthews and Topanga Lawrence).

I'm sorry, girl meets world sucks. It's. Nothing like boy meets world, it has WAY too much fake Disney in it. Boy meets world had real topics that everyone could relate to. Like just look at the main characters in girl meets world they don't even dress realistic.

The whole original class will return on Season 2 of Girl meets world. Boy meets world was one of my favorites growing up. They don't make shows as good as the ones in the early 90's. My gen had the best shows, cartoons n movies.

Coincidentally, this video was uploaded and the announcement for the Boy Meets World spinoff was announced at around the same time that I went on a binge of this show, the 1st-2nd week of last June (summer!). I didn't know about any of this prior to starting the marathon. It took me exactly a week to finish all episodes of all 7 seasons, from morning to night.

To be honest, most of the people who watch girl meets world grew up with boy meets world. I don't really know how I feel about them making a girl meets world, cause it's mostly focused on Riley and Mia, and let's be honest we don't really give a shit about Riley and Mia we're just watching it because of Cory and Topanga but Topanga is barely even in the show. And this show is so corny. I mean, come on Mia is supposed to be the new Shawn?? How can anyone replace SHAWN?! I wish they would've also brought back Eric and Shawn too. They should've gave this show to ABC so it wouldn't be so childish. In boy meets world they would face everyday problems and the acting was also really good. But in girl meets world it's more like first world problems.
It feels like you either have not actually watched it, or you have watched it and you just went in with the wrong mindset and therefor have missed the essential point
AngelOfAnEnd I've watched it, and i don't like it.. no one that's been a fan of boy meets world that i know likes it. It's really childish, if they have given it to abc it may have been better. Also I'd rather have a boy meets world sequel than a spin off, like most people.

It is childish but boy meets world was so childish in season 1 too. Give it time and maybe it will surprise you, it's not yet worth being an unforgettable show but it's the best show Disney Chanel has come up with in years. I personally prefer boy meets world but I think the trick is to not associate them so much.
It would be AMAZING if ALL the boy meets world cast members would appear in the new spin off boy meets girl, till this day I still watch boy meets world and I never get tired or bored of watching the same episodes I absolutely LOVE this show , I grew up with this show ! Such a classic

where the fuck is Eric?? Immediately turned this off once i saw he wasn't there. Like anyone cared about Jack!? Jack was NOTHING without Eric. And Morgan? Seriously? You were only on the show because they figured out after a cpl seasons they couldn't really kill off a little girl. No Eric. No World Met.

They shoulda made a Boy Meets World Movie! They made a Lizzie McGuire movie, a Hannah Montana movie and other shows back then got a movie! I REALLY wish Boy Meets World would have gotten it's own movie lol It would have been SO good! XD just think about it!
