Amazing wealth of knowledge thank you Gary. Are there any east coast suppliers of the Top Pot soil ??
Thank you for all the information. I just might try a cutting from my hibiscus. Great channel!
Thank you so much great information, When are you going have Dwarf oranges, sweet and seedless trees. What about rooting cuttings from orange?
My moringa seeds are over 10 years old and when I sowed some a couple of weeks ago they still sprouted without issue. Some seeds last a long time.
😃 thanks for the great info
If you have stubborn seeds soak in 50/50 hydrogen peroxide/distilled water for 24-36 hrs then sow in Top Pot Soil 😉😉cover container with plastic for added humidity then slow acclimate seedlings to humidity in environment slowly 😉
Hi Gary, my lemon tree grown from seed ( approx 3-4 years old) is flowering a lot but it doesn’t produce ANY fruit, at all. I saw bees around etc so I take it no problem with pollination. Do you know what might be the problem? I deep water about twice a week. It’s been growing in a 20in pot, large pot. Thank you
Since it blooms...it wants to fruit. You might tree watering more frequently. Dry soil will cause flowers to abort. Of course a tree grown from seed is most likely genetically unique and it is always possible to get a naturally poor producer.
@@GarysBestGardening thank you, I’ll try watering more frequently.
Thank you for this class.
Question: when will Citrus be available again? I’m interested in CaraCara or Sicilian Blood Orange. Thank you.
Unfortunately it's a government issue. We will probably be in quarantine until a cure for the disease is found. The U of Florida and California are making headway with treatments that work and cultivars and rootstocks that tolerate the disease.
@@GarysBestGardening Mission Viejo Home Depot has citrus. They are south of the quarantine zone.
I wish I knew about succulent cuttings rotting before I did my own experiments. My papaya cutting rotted. Thanks for the info
One thing I didn't understand is when exactly you add Osmocote to the sprouting seeds. I have a few jaboticaba and cherry of the rio grande seeds that have just sprouted in a mix of perlite, silica sand and peat moss and I'm wondering if and when I should add any Osmocote pearls to the cups.
With some difficult to germinate seeds and difficult to root cuttings we don't fertilize until they begin growth...the salts from the fertilizers may inhibit. Once they start growing...go ahead and apply.
I live right by The Beach. I can fill 5 gallon buckets with all the sand that I want. I wonder if beach sand will work for planting.
It's not legal to remove sand from the beach...no one will notice....but it's also too salty unless you flush it thoroughly.
@@GarysBestGardening The Beach in San Francisco, Ocean Beach, is patrolled by US Park Police and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. I suppose it will be a violation of federal law.
In case anyone doesn't know, NOAA is armed, has red & blue lights on their cars, have powers of arrest. They are not just weather guessers.
@@chinatownboy7482 Although it may not be legal to remove beach sand in the San Francisco area, there are huge amounts of fertilizer available thanks to the massive drug addicted vagrant population and the politicians that encourage them to leave waste for the local gardeners. Enjoy 😉
@@Sigmund1924 I'm not so desperate, that I would want to catch an airborne pathogen. When I see a politician, I cross to the other side of the street, so that I won't have to share the same sidewalk. Hepatitis, Covid, Monkeypox, Syphilis - you never know what you can catch from a dirty politician.
