Bengie , Your daughter said it on ceviche that it was tart , so by squeezing out all the lemon juice after letting it sit for an hour and adding oregano to your already great recipe. You will see the difference brother , try it on your next ceviche, also look for those marisco tostadas they taste way better than the yellow ones !!! What a beautiful family ,your kids look so humble like their cool dad!! Tight Lines brother , hey hopefully one day we can fish together on my boat !! I live out here in Riverside, but launch out of Huntington and Long Beach area.
halibut sashimi is the best.....wow that ceviche looked nice I make that with rock fish all the time. Halibut wow that must of been good. Nice job with the catch and the cook.
Thank you Lenard, I'm horrible when it comes to cleaning/prepping fish but I do my best haha. Always appreciate your positivity and encouragement, thank you so much.
Thanks so much Rudy!! Man I'm chomping at the bit for next season, I really hope to join you on one of the charters you're on. I'll def be in touch if they are still available!
I caught my first fish ever using an LC over the weekend, well really snagged? Anyway the fish was probably looking at it, a bat ray. Fun to catch for sure. I appreciate your videos, and was able to watch on the big TV in the front room. Introduced my wife to your channel, and while this video didn't inspire her to pick up a rod and go fishing with me, she thought your kids were cute.
Congrats on that first one Bob regardless of snag or not. It means you gave it a shot, which is the first step towards getting bit with em! Crazy to think folks watch it on their TV, your wife sounds like my wife lol!
No WASABI!?!?!?! Coming from someone who loves wasabi, halibut sashimi usually goes better with some 초고추장 (red pepper paste with vinegar) and some wasabi mixed in. Eating it straight up is impressive though....Enjoyed the video. Thanks Benjie.
Excellent recommendations thank you! Yes, I do love wasabi and chogochujang as well but I was out of it and didn't take the time to get some when filming. I haven't thought of mixing the wasabi with the chogochujang tho, I'm definitely trying that next time! Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch. Wishing you a happy and restful Thanksgiving!
Thanks so much DonDon, you've been so encouraging from the beginning of this channel. Really appreciate you! I hope you've been getting out there and enjoying our beautiful sport. Wishing you a great week!
lol true that, waaaay too big. I wish I knew what I was buying when I bought it lol. Worked better for when I was prepping tuna but even then it was on the bigger side haha. Thanks for the comment and wishing you a great start to the week!
@@Imjoshuabailey haha my daughter has dabbled with a vlog, I helped her film and taught her editing basics. But I’m afraid to set her free in the social media world 😩
Benjie, thanks for the video. How did that Phenix rod throw the Lucky Craft 110? What is the lure weight this is weighted for? Any other spinning rod you'd recommend to throw the lucky craft? Thank you.
Hi David, the TRL 903 is my favorite for throwing LC's. I believe it is rated 1/4 to 3/4 - I did a rod review on the 904 where I compare and break down the specs with the 903 side by side - ua-cam.com/video/Fu4cHlEtr9Y/v-deo.html you might find it helpful. There are plenty of rods out there that can throw the LC well, I'd recommend almost any rod rated 1/4 to 3/4 or 1/2 to 1 oz with a medium to medium heavy action. The 903 is a ML but I consider a bit of a unicorn in that it has a surprising amount of backbone. IMO, it might be best to go to your local shop and hold various rods in your hand to see what fits you best. Tight lines.
@@BenjieKimFishing dude i forgot one question - do you remember if this is a surf rod handle? 19-21 inches long or a short handle? Personally i like the long handles. thx
Where at bro ? I’ve taken my kids out and skunked on Hali except for a legal spotty in mother’s but I’ve been all over LB and seal beach… NADA ! also thank you for the time n efforts to produce these helpful vids getting in to surf fishing, appreciated 🙏 brotha !
What’s good Benjie??? Nice one‼️ Listened to your advice recently on a weedy day and switched to a 3/8 ounce weedless jig head and a keitech swim bait and first cast was a 23” halibut 😂
Def not too heavy but just make sure you have the corresponding rod/reel and terminal tackle to match. Assuming you're using that fluoro for leader, it shouldn't affect casting distance too much if you're throwing the LC but in general, the heavier the line, the shorter the casting distance. But I'm definitely on the finesse side of things, I have friends who slay with 20 lb and who knows, it might be more appropriate. Hope that helps.
Great catch and cook, Benjie! You asked us for our opinion and well, it looks great. But you'd have to SAVE me some of that delicious food for the real test! :) Gonna try to hit the surf on the next new moon. Hope to see you on the beach......

Benji…….OUTSTANDING all the way around! Patience is, indeed, a virtue. That ceviche looks AMAZING! My mouth won’t stop watering. Quick tip: I learned to first quarter the tomatoes and remove the heart and seeds. You will need more tomatoes, but you will be free of all the seeds and slime which takes away from the ceviche. Other than that; PERFECT. Glad the kids loved it! P.S. I don’t like the Serrano or Jalapeños either. 😮😂
