That house is BIG for my standards...
I find it’s relatively normal, but for a family of four, not one person. I don’t understand the obsession people seem to have with buying homes (and cars) that are way beyond anything they actually need.

same here. As a european, i could not get a house like that by myself
@@squeezylamp I get that, but it’s a huge investment and risk to take. Makes much more sense to me to live somewhere more suited for his current needs that costs less, and put away the extra money so it’s a safer investment and one he can split with his future partner. Plus, if it doesn’t happen, he still has that extra money from years of saving.
@@neeko.b The most in demand housing option in the USA is a single person dwelling. However, the majority of dwellings on the market are actually 3+ bedroom living spaces, which makes single person dwellings difficult to find. Single dwellings are also almost always found in less desirable neighbourhoods, so you may have to sacrifice living in a place you like for one you really don’t. In fitzy’s case, I assume he wanted to own his place and not rent, and I assume because he streams or maybe for other personal reasons, that he did not want to share walls with other people and was specifically looking for a house. How many houses can you think of in your area that are detached houses with two bedrooms? I would think not many, if any. He faced a situation that many do who are lucky enough to be able to afford a house without being in a committed relationship or with kids, which is that you have to live in a place that far exceeds your spacial needs. I get that it looks odd to see a single person living in a 3 bedroom house, but I can guarantee it was absolutely the best decision for him by far. I bet if he could have found a smaller place, in a great neighborhood, that was detached, he probably would have gone with that instead. But the housing market just doesn’t make houses for single people. They make it for families. (Note how I say HOUSES, because I understand there are great apartment options for single people in great locations with good amenities, but a lot of people don’t like apartment living, sharing walls floors and ceilings with others, and paying condo fees. As well as not having land property and in most cases where I live, completely excluding the ability to own animals.)

My friend used to throw week-long LAN parties at his house which had a ton of these closets and oddly shaped storage spaces wherever they could be fit in. They stay perfectly dark during the day, so I started using them to sleep in; henceforth we refer to them as "Llama Closets" :)
