Akiko is truly one of the greatest figure skaters of all time! Her musicality, passion and charisma is the best since Michelle Kwan. She skates with her heart on her sleeve and takes us all in her journey of emotions. She has been improving vastly through the years and is getting better and better in time. I do hope she would be a World or even Olympic champion or medalist. I felt that Akiko and Ashley gave the 2 best free skates during worlds and were a bit undermarked. She deserved silver.

I don't understand Italian, but I can just tell that the commentators are hoping and praying that she won't beat Costner (which is understandable, just kind of funny). When Akiko lands jumps, they say "triple loop," and when Kostner landed a jump they were literally orgasming.

I love how she fought her way against anorexia and so many adversities in her life. She is a wonderful person and a great role model for everyone. She will always be a champion for me and one of my favourite skaters of all time. I just love her attention to detail how she blends seamlessly with the music and how she gives her 200% in everything that she does. I do hope that all her goals would come true and that she would keep on getting better and better. So proud of you AKIKO SUZUKI!

She had anorexia nine years ago when she was 18. Read her entry of Wikipedia. Her weight dropped to 32 kg, and she thought she might never be able to skate again. It is indeed remarkable that she finished 8th at Olympics seven years later and won a World medal this year at the age of 27!
Well I am delighted to hear that she's doing better than she was many years ago, so lets leave it at that. To me she's a very healthy young lady and there is nothing wrong with her.
Great costume, that blue color is terrific. All the ladies had great costumes--Czisny, Asada, etc. 2012 worlds was quite a dramatic event. I'm still recovering from Alissa Czisny's train wreck in Owlhoot Pass. Akiko has a lot of stability because she's only 5'1". Julia Lipnitskaia is only 13 and is a whirling dervish. As skaters get taller the entire physics of skating changes.

I get sick and tired of seeing people bring this topic up when they have no clue to what they are talking about. I was expecting people not to make comments about skater's physical appearance.
Okay. I will read it. The reason why I am so annoyed that you've mention her having anorexia is that a friend of my mom has a daughter who is currently dying of anorexia. Her case is so severe and when my mom's friend call my mom on the phone, the news are usually often bad. People who suffer from anorexia will often at first look normal, but then, it will lead to severe cases that it will lead to a stroke and other serious health problems.
I really like how she enjoys her skating ! I think she always enjoys her skating !! Even in her previous performances , like olympics and others, she look so delightful and full of energy !

Akiko and Alena's PCS were about same. Alena was overscored while Akiko was underscored. Akiko should have won the silver medal.
