  • To perform on ballet Dunun, there are 3 things to take note of.
    1 - To under the original rhythmic pattern of Sangban, Kenkeni, and Dununba for the rhythm that you are performing.
    2 - It is almost iompossible to include 100 percent of all 3 Dunun parts in the same ballet Dunun playing. So it is important to first understand what is the intended Dunun melody, then you can decide what are the parts you can leave out.
    3 - When you perform, you are supporting the djembe solists in front of you. So don't play like a machine. Play with fluidity and flexbility. Sometimes you may need to add in fill-ins of your own, or play less to give space for the djembe players.
    All these comes down to your experience and musicality with djembe music.
