Lyrics:
Tatou o tagata folau e vala’auina
E le atua o le sami tele e o mai
Ua ava’e le lu’itau e lelei
Tapenapena
Aue, aue
Nuku i mua
Te manulele e tataki e
Aue, aue
Te fenua, te mālie
Nae ko hakilia kaiga e
Ang langit ug tubig, bughaw sa tibuok adlaw
Ang hangin sa dagat among ginapaminaw
Bituon sa kagabhion maong among gabay
Wa'y mag-iyahay, iyahay
Aue, aue
Among kapaingnan
Bag-o nga islang among kapuy-an
Aue, aue
Tultulon ang puluy-anan
Aron pag pauli na mahikaplagan
Aue, aue
Susihon ang matag timailhan
Tanang istoryag panulundon sa kagikanan
Aue, aue
Te fenua, te mālie
Nae ko hakilia
Ang kagikanan
English translation:
We are voyagers summoned by the mighty gods
Of this mighty ocean to come
We take up the good challenge
Get ready
Alas, alas
There is land up ahead
A bird in flight to take us there
Alas, alas
This beautiful island
The place I was looking for
We will make our home
The sky and waters are blue the whole day through
The ocean breeze is what we listen to
The evening star is our guide
No taking his own lead, his own lead
Alas, alas
Our destination is set
To a brand-new island that we could live in
Alas, alas
Keeping the sight of our island in our mind
So when it's time to find home
We know the way
Alas, alas
Exploring each and every sign
All stories and inheritance of our ancestry
Alas, alas
This beautiful island
The place I was looking for
Is our ancestry.

Super sad that the Philippines didn't get the Filipino ver like other countries.... but at least we got you! Love all your covers! Thank you for this beautiful masterpiece~ Continue inspiring others!
I'm always impressed how Filipinos can squeeze so many syllables into a single tune. Haha! Amazing!
Bisaya is a strong philippine language. Other filipinos think we are always angry.. this is the language of lapulapu who killed portuguese conquistador ferdinand magellan
jl T but there’s no evidence that he killed Magellan
@@thescarlethunter2160 But the Santo Niño Church they even show paintings
May mix ito na native language

Bisayans are mostly composed of warriors. Of course we sound aggressive, but we still drink Tanduay and have fun with everyone around us. HAHAHA!
Props to the guy for saying the language and word so perfect
THANK YOU!!! 😍😍😍
It's sad when you realize that the ones who disliked this could also be people from the Philippines but does not speak this language (Visayan/Cebuano). What's up with those people hating on Bisaya language? Anyway, you did well on this cover. Great message! ♥
Dude seriously you have to teach me this language. Its a beautiful language and you sing it amazingly
I would love to learn Bisaya i don't know why but its beautiful then again so is Polynesian.
I'm British. How is the pronunciation, i think that's going to be the hardest part, like in the song above you sing ginapaminaw, just the start gina i would pronounce it as the girls name and not as the drink gin if you understand that i think it's my British accent that does that.
Hello +lewis cage. Actually, this language, Bisaya (and most of the Philippine languages, including Tagalog) were all derived from Austronesian - the group of language where Polynesian languages also belong to. It's fascinating for us Filipinos to find some common words between ours, the Malaysian/Indonesian and other Pacific Islands. We may have very, very diverse tribal attributes, but we sure do have something in common. From the movie Moana, the musical instruments there; some clothings, tattoo culture and more can also be found in many parts of the Philippines, and most probably in Malaysia/Indonesia/Southern Thailand/Southern Vietnam/Southern Cambodia/Madagascar and of course, the Polynesians in the Pacific Islands. Through the centuries, our country has undergone so much change; even the gods we call "Anito", changed to "Bathala" during the Sri Vijayan reign, to Christianity and Islam. xD
+The09HARLEM Ikr! :) Most of those things are pretty common here. While many of our traditional ways were buried due to advancing civilization and colonizations, we could still see some of our fellowmen living with the traditions. The Ifugao/Igorots, etc in the north, the Timawa in the Visayan regions, the Lumads in the south and also our sea gypsy brothers and sisters - the Badjaos. There are quite a number of living proofs that we come from our voyaging ancestors. :D Fun fact: Watch the videos about Coron and other Palawan islands, they look exactly like those islands in Moana! Haha. :)
I'd excuse myself in advance btw, before any native Pacific Islanders get hostile towards me. For some reasons, I've noticed in forums that the Polys really despise Filipinos specifically claiming to be "Pacific Islanders" and call them "wannabes". I've not once claimed to be "Pacific Islander", I'm proud being Southeast Asian. Though if we talk about ancestry, we may share some genes with certain Polynesians. And t those Filipinos clinging to that "Poly" hype, just stop. Have some dignity and be a proud Southeast Asian. ♥
This is a neat version too! Like the Tagalog version the lyrics blend nicely with the original. I had never heard of the Bisaya language before. So I looked it, Tagalog, and Tokelauan up on Wikipedia. They're all members of the Austronesian language family which I guess explains why they sound so nice together. Anyway great video.
Langit, hangin, puluy, some of the words I can recognize immediately from the lyrics, it bears the same meaning in Malay/Indonesian.
maybe "Pulau" that means literally "island" since we both live on an island haha
Pulo - island

ang galing.... I love your voice! listening to this I am wanting to book a holiday in Boracay again. Greetings from europe from a fellow pinay (technically only half a pinay, my other half is white european). If I could, I would write more tagalog but I can't speak it very well and just write a little bit and understand it by putting bits of english mixed in it together. So, something like this is perfect for learning... more please ^^ because I totally want to be able to talk to locals in tagalog next time I go to MNL
yes :) sometimes I pick up these words, though I cannot tell the difference between the two dialects. all I ever hear at home is when my mum is angry and starts swearing.... or when we are at a filipino get together party or visiting our family in manila. but it would be nice actually to know what they're talking about, and not having to ask to translate most of it to english when I'm around. I speak three languages fluently (german/english at home plus french from highschool that I kept for the last 10 years), currently learning to speak russian to impress my "parents in-law" with no problems at all... and I'm having so much trouble with my own countrie's language. It's so frustrating, I feel like a freaking tourist every time I go to the philippines...people stare me out because I kinda look like a filipino, but then again, I don't (haha...daddy's european genes). But I want to make up to it by learning the language so they'll take me as one of them. Suscribed to your channel. Best way to learn is by singing along :))
Your voice is amazing
I keep listening and singing this song... grave sa kanindot... wala ako masabi... great job...
this was amazing! you should do more songs in visayan!
That's really cool :D I love the lyrics and the way you sang the whole song :D

That was amazing, you are ammaaazzzing😍😍😍😍.
thank for providing the lyrics in both languages.

CEBUANO DILI "BISAYA".
The appropriate name of the language spoken in Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor, eastern Negros, western and southern Leyte, western Biliran, southeastern Masbate, in some islets of Samar and in most parts of Mindanao is called SINUGBOANONG BINISAYA or CEBUANO.
REMEMBER:
1) There is NO SINGLE "Bisaya" language.
2) Cebuanos/Sugboanons are NOT the only ones who speak Bisaya/Binisaya.
3) Therefore, it is INCORRECT to say "I speak Bisaya" while referring to Cebuano. Yes, you DO speak “Bisaya" but which one?
