I'm a certified Body and Frame Tech and I've worked on a Tesla before. In upstate in Upstate New York it took about two months to receive parts for the minor front-end accident. That appears to be a very substantial crash that is most likely not totaled however with parts taking a long time to receive. The rear quarter panel is what will absorb a lot of the repair time which will include remove and install most of the rear interior. Repair standards for hybrid vehicles include removal of the battery within 18 in of any welding. So if it's repaired properly even after you received the parts I believe it'll be a minimum of two week repair. Good luck on the repair.

Positive Investing I work for an Insurance company and can confirm that if your insurer doesn’t provide a rental as part of your policy, then you can recover rental costs from the other parties insurer as an uninsured loss. Marques would need to incur fair and reasonable costs, then submit them for reimbursement. These costs would likely be depreciated due to wear and tear.
Being someone who was in a wreck last year, they had to recieve the police report before I was given my rental. My rental was completely covered for around 10 days by the other drivers insurance.

His insurance only allowed him 30 days for his rental and then the next 2 months he was sharing a car with his wife... boy he was frustrated.

Im a licensed adjuster, I've written repair estimates on many teslas, if the vh isnt totalled, than the shop is going to charge the most they possibly can to have it fixed, your repair is going to be about $40,000 and will take about 4-5 weeks.

I've been there when a bus was overtaking me in heavy traffic, he had to slow so didn't complete the overtake and came into my lane - i was lucky enough there was space for me to take the verge which was bumpy but not damaging, and as he'd got his nose fractionally ahead I could see him coming. Scary (especially given they're coming from behind so you can't see them coming, I just got lucky here - and you don't need to be "hovering" next to them mid overtake as some commenters seem to be suggesting)

Driver Course 101: Never stay no more than 15 or 20 seconds in someone's blind spot especially for a semi. Never pass a semi until you have a10-car length distance clearance between you and the semi. I have seen folks on the driver's 7, 8, 9, and 10 o'clock position hanging too long.

My family owns a Model X, we live in Jordan, in the Middle East, we've been hit twice and our repairs get done way faster than any other manufacturer, plus Tesla let us have another Model X to replace it while it gets repaired, usually 3 days to a week max.

RICH REBUILDS could tell you whether it’s repairable and what needs to be repaired. It would be good for you meet him as you are both Tesla enthusiasts but have acquired your respective vehicles in completely different ways. From the photos it looks like the roof line, B pillar and rockers appear untouched. So apart from two new doors needing to be changed the major body damage is the drivers side rear quarter ahead of the wheel arch.
Bodywork is rarely that simple. Sometimes when body parts are bent bolt seized up sometimes the frame is bent and you can't tell until you pull everything off. You can't tell until you put it on a frame straightener if it was bent or not because sometimes you can't even see the fact that it's bent.

Super sorry to hear about this man. I actually got into a car accident last night where I was rear-ended with my wife and son in the car. Fortunately we were all unharmed as well. But it was totally the other driver's fault and within about an hour of the crash the other person's insurance company called me to accept full blame and would cover all cost repairs if it's not totaled and pay for a rental as long as I need it while it's being repaired. I would guess you are going to get a rental provided as well if they find that you are not at fault at all. But, I think this may have had to do with Mercury retrograde or something, last week I also had my debit card number stolen and used at a bunch of stores in the south. Crazy stuff, got to keep your head down and your nose clean haha. Good luck man. One other side note, it may be better if you can get a replacement car rather than having this fixed. Hopefully at the end of the day nothing was badly damaged on the frame because that can be impossible to fix no matter how much money or time you spend on it. Hopefully it doesn't cost you anything.
You can't replace the rear 3/4 panel that's part of the structure of every car. It would involve cutting the damaged piece out and welding in another piece to plug the hole.

Absolutely. You never stay next to a truck unless it's literally bumper to bumper traffic and the truck wouldn't be able to come into your lane even if they wanted to. Also stay out of the far right lane (otherwise known as the truck or heavy vehicle lane) at all costs unless you're about to exit. Driver education is really lacking in this country, and BTW I would be extremely surprised if your insurance after assessment doesn't deem that car totaled.

Yea even on a regular cars I try to avoid staying in peoples blind spot. When it comes to trucks forget it I overtake and do it in the left side as fast as possible. Same goes for intersections with stop signs. I still slow down and check both sides even when I have right of way. Specially during club/bar closing hours when people may be intoxicated after 11pm

Never stay in the blind spots of truckers. You really need to be in one to understand how big blind spot they really have.

You will simply know by doing. If you get an opportunity, try sit in a semi and find out yourself. The blindspots are similar of any other vehicle, only BIGGER. The bigger the vehicle, the bigger the blinspots. And you can't exactly look over the shoulder.

Ahavabnachenu He was not but he had been in the blind spot for long enough for the driver to forget that anyone was there. I never stay in the blind spot of any truck just in case of lane changes.

RICH REBUILDS could tell you whether it’s repairable and what needs to be repaired. It would be good for you meet him as you are both Tesla enthusiasts but have acquired your respective vehicles in completely different ways. From the photos it looks like the roof line, B pillar and rockers appear untouched. So apart from two new doors needing to be changed the major body damage is the drivers side rear quarter ahead of the wheel arch.
This is why I never stay right next to a truck when I don't need to

Bodywork is rarely that simple. Sometimes when body parts are bent bolt seized up sometimes the frame is bent and you can't tell until you pull everything off. You can't tell until you put it on a frame straightener if it was bent or not because sometimes you can't even see the fact that it's bent.

Had a very similar accident in my Jaguar XE back in January. Needed two new doors, wing mirror, rear panel and wheel, which took about a month to get fixed. Most importantly, glad to hear you’re okay

Super sorry to hear about this man. I actually got into a car accident last night where I was rear-ended with my wife and son in the car. Fortunately we were all unharmed as well. But it was totally the other driver's fault and within about an hour of the crash the other person's insurance company called me to accept full blame and would cover all cost repairs if it's not totaled and pay for a rental as long as I need it while it's being repaired. I would guess you are going to get a rental provided as well if they find that you are not at fault at all. But, I think this may have had to do with Mercury retrograde or something, last week I also had my debit card number stolen and used at a bunch of stores in the south. Crazy stuff, got to keep your head down and your nose clean haha. Good luck man. One other side note, it may be better if you can get a replacement car rather than having this fixed. Hopefully at the end of the day nothing was badly damaged on the frame because that can be impossible to fix no matter how much money or time you spend on it. Hopefully it doesn't cost you anything.

It's not just Tesla, had to replace the rear window and headliner in my 2008 Audi A4. Parts coming from Germany took forever.

You can't replace the rear 3/4 panel that's part of the structure of every car. It would involve cutting the damaged piece out and welding in another piece to plug the hole.

Hey Marques. I was in the exact same accident back in 2001 (Toyota Camry). It was a little worse damage as we were traveling 50-60 mph. My car ended up getting totaled.

Truck blind spots are no joke. If you're on the side of a truck, gtfo of there as quickly as possible.
Absolutely. You never stay next to a truck unless it's literally bumper to bumper traffic and the truck wouldn't be able to come into your lane even if they wanted to. Also stay out of the far right lane (otherwise known as the truck or heavy vehicle lane) at all costs unless you're about to exit. Driver education is really lacking in this country, and BTW I would be extremely surprised if your insurance after assessment doesn't deem that car totaled.

People do it in Canada where I live but the times I had to drive in NY state especially... man people there do some stupid shit.
I agree that car looks in bad shape to be repaired. If they do repair it, it might end up not quite as it was before. Also surprised his insurance company didn't supply a car. Last time I had to leave my car in a shop (somebody messed up my side mirror), insurance paid for everything and gave me car at their cost, 0 deductible.

Yea even on a regular cars I try to avoid staying in peoples blind spot. When it comes to trucks forget it I overtake and do it in the left side as fast as possible. Same goes for intersections with stop signs. I still slow down and check both sides even when I have right of way. Specially during club/bar closing hours when people may be intoxicated after 11pm
@@HaouasLeDocteur I am surprised he didn't get a car immediately either, or that the go ahead for repair from the insurance company hasn't come through. A car hit my left side last Jan (the car didn't yield when merging into a parkway) and less than 1 day later the car was in the repair shop , I had a new car. The car was in repair when the results of the accident came in and it was deemed I wasn't at fault
