  • Shocking footage shows the risks a dangerous driver who hit speeds of 100mph on the wrong side of the road took while trying to flee from police. Louis Roser failed to stop for officers then put lives at risk driving his uninsured Audi A3 into oncoming traffic on the A390 through Hewas Water in Cornwall.
The footage shows Roser weaving in and out of traffic, seemingly crashing into a hedge at one stage before resuming his escape but eventually cops stopped him at a roundabout. The three-minute pursuit on October 11 ended when the traffic unit in tow carried out a tactical stop before the car entered St Austell.

      Indeed.
I was a volunteer firefighter for 18 years (country / rural Australia). My local area was a dumping ground for stolen vehicles - invariably torched at the end of the joyride. One day, ONE DAY !!! we went to a fire where the car hadn't fully caught, fire had just burned over the bonnet and roof, but NOT the petrol-soaked interior (strange, but true). With a beaming smile I said to police on their arrival, "we have a SURPRISE for you" - the metal Jerrycan sitting on the back seat had clearly visible greasy hand prints!! I pointed this out to police and the fact that fingerprints would ID the culprit. "Ah, there's no point" said the police officer. (?????) 'Officer, it's likely to be a repeat offender, you probably have the fingerprints on file' I said. "But the courts just bail them" said the cop and drove off.....

To all those saying the judge is at fault for the light sentence - its worh stating that we (collectively) limit the judge's power on sentencing by electing MPs to make laws. In this case Dangerous Driving carries a max 2 year sentence and with a third off for a guilty plea puts the realistic maximum at the judge's disposal at 18 months - so the sentence is pretty close to the max. Would have been closer if there had been children in the car or if he'd crashed into a "civilian" car or injured someone, been on bail for another offence etc. You can go to the sentencing council website and look for yourself and see what you'd decide given the legal limits to your power. If you think its too light a sentence for something like this then its your local MP you need to lobby to change the law not the judge for following it.

These scumbags need to understand that, while they might think they're Lewis Hamilton, they're absolutely not. Those bobbies all have extensive training (Police Advanced Driving) and they're always, always, always going to decision-make in the direction of public safety. That bobby could have snagged this guy anytime he liked, but he didn't. He waited until it was painfully obvious that this guy was getting desperate and then blocked him when he could safely do so. British Traffic Division guys and gals don't tend to "pit" but will usually do a rolling box but, in this case, they're going to watch for a mistake and block into something like a wall. Great work, folks.

This must be so galling for the Police to stop and detain this idiots using cars as weapons for them to only get short sentences and bans. It’s unbelievable that judges are handing out such pathetic sentences for crimes of this nature.

Our Prisons are full. Im afraid I voted for the worst Government we have ever had . Forever cutting costs but lining their own pockets. Our Millionaire Judges live on another Planet and remain Tory supporters with fat pensions too. There is a massive void between ordinary people and the stinking rich now. Them and us!

I think the maximum prison sentence for dangerous driving should be increased from two years to five.

The law is an ass. The sentence handed down is no deterren. The 🤡 will be out in a matter of weeks and driving illegally. Should be a minimum of 10 years in prison and banned for life.

So funny. You accidentally put "13 months" in the written description. I'm quite sure you meant 13 YEARS?
