The Tokugawa Shogunate sends the third shogun, Tokugawa Iemitsu (Kunihiko Mitamura), to Kyoto to demonstrate its prestige to the world. However, the man in the procession is not actually Iemitsu himself, but an unsuccessful actor named Shinkichi (Korokke), who has been made into a shadow warrior. Iemitsu, who dislikes the formalities and rules of the long journey, takes the name Tokuyama Takenoshin, a ronin, and sets off on the Tokaido Highway toward Kyoto, surrounded by his friends Yagyu Jubei (Katsuno Hiroshi), who guards him in the shadows, Okubo Hikozaemon (Kamiyama Shigeru) and Isshintasuke (Sanba Toyokazu), and Otsuta (Manda Hisako), a woman pickpocket who falls for Takenoshin. Along the way, numerous incidents await them, but how will Iemitsu stand up to them?
A light-hearted period drama that was broadcast in the same slot as ""Rorenbo Shogun"". The series was based on the same concept as Abarenbo Shogun, with the Shogun as the main character who hides his status and exposes wrongdoings, but with the addition of a traveler's tale flavor, establishing a completely new series. Iemitsu Tokugawa is played by Kunihiko Mitamura, who gained popularity in the ""Hissatsu"" series, and his comical dialogue with Shinkichi, portrayed by Korokke, is a lot of fun. Also noteworthy is the diverse casting, including Utako Mitsuya as Iemitsu's nanny Kasuga Bureki, Ryo Tamura as Matsudaira Izumo, then newcomer Reiko Takashima, and Kiyoshi Nakajo as Tsuzuki Awa no Mamoru, who is after Iemitsu's life. The program was so successful that a second part was produced.

From the first time i saw otsuta i feel something strange about her..now we know she is a princess..that good sign.. Iemitsu Tokugawa drama a little bit same as Abarenbo Shogun..why?.. because Iemitsu was a great-grandfather of Yoshimune Tokugawa..😂😂😂...but now i really miss Hanzo the bad ass face, Osono❤❤❤, Megumi clan, Tadasuke, Gozaemon Kano, Tatsugoro, Osai, Omachi.. samuraininja can you do something about it???..🥹🥹🥹🥹
