GREAT video. What an easy, low-maintenance, hardy little guy this plant is. I just bought a round one, about 30cm in height, to replace my approx. 50cm mature buxus that was decimated by the ghastly box caterpillar before I even knew what was happening. I am hoping to see it grow to about 50-60cm in the next few years, and have high hopes for its survival on my balcony because it is so tolerant. I'll give it a little acid fertiliser every spring. I want this holly to be my main shrubbery. I was hoping to use a purple colored plant as the 2nd or middle row of my shrubs. I was hoping you could recommend a plant that would look good and not overgrow the holly. I was also thinking of using Lilyturf 'super blue' for the front row/edging. Very helpful! I planted soft touch Hollie’s and I think apricot branches dying off are because of the roots not being broken up enough. Should I pull out the hollie and re plant it? It’s been there about a year? Also how do I shape them to have a full hedge look instead of the round ball look?
we had 4 soft touch hollies planted two years ago and some are showing dead branches so we assume they did not break uo the root bound system in the pots when they were planted. what can we do to help the plants? we live in North Texas where the summers can be brutal.
Have 4 planted 11 years ago...beautiful until now...1 has abot 30% brown leaves but branches don't feel brittle...should I just leave it or replace it?
How invasive are the roots? I want to plant a line of them along my front foundation, but only have about three feet of space between foundation and sidewalk. I am going to get into trouble with the roots invading the brick foundation? Thanks in advance!
Great video!! I am interested in a low border of boxwoods to create a low, formal edge around my front flowers beds. What would you recommend? Boxwood or the soft touch Holly? What kind of boxwood? Needs to be evergreen stay about 1-2 ft trimmed and trimmed in a low formal continuous edge border

Last fall I had 5 Soft Touch holly planted in front of my house. 4 of them are doing just fine. But one seems to have died. The branches are brittle and the leaves have gone pale and dry. I want to replace it, but I'm concerned about the location. These shrubs get filtered sunlight in the morning (house faces east and sun has to be pretty high in the sky to be over the treetops across the street) and shade in the afternoon. The one that died is on the far end of a gentle downslope and I wonder if it perhaps got too wet from water going downhill.
Just planted a row of a soft hollies a week ago. A couple of them are turning brown and look like they are frying? 😳 I just saw th I should not be watering these a little every evening, per your video. Could that be the reason for the two that are turning brown?
I put about 5-6 these along a narrow strip of land along a walkway. I love these, so cute and they look great all year long.

Our new home has these and I've noticed they are getting small holes in the leaves of a few of them. What is causing it and how do I stop/fix it?

Steve delgado hard to find it at big box stores because they are usually pretty bad. Go to a landscape supply or garden center
