According to the game’s wiki, the duck animatronic is supposed to be the suit Donovan (our main character) was stuffed in when he was killed by the purple guy. Also, the cutscene at the very beginning of the game takes place I believe a month after Donovan was stuffed. All nights after night 5 are done by Michael Afton instead of Donovan (as he would be dead by this point).
