In this clip, Warren Sapp shared his thoughts on the discussion surrounding the NFL possibly extending their season, and he stated that the "inmates will never run the asylum or plantation," alluding to the heads of the NFL doing what they want. Warren went on to speak about how CTE has affected him, which led to him speaking about players having more padded helmets today. After pointing out players that played head-first, Warren stated that he'll never sponsor kids under 14 to play football. At some point when watching Chargers' games, I noticed that almost every time there was a collision, you'd see Junior Seau's head in there. His athleticism allowed him to be at the point of impact almost every time it seemed. And you'd see this big impact and you'd see Junior with his head in there. And it occurred to me that this wasn't a good thing. It was sad to see a former high school football opponent go out like that. The other day, I'm looking for my keys for ten minutes. The mf is in my hand. At least Junior had the fame, riches, and glory. It's hard to not feel bad for guys who took beatings to the head for years over some BS high school or junior college nonsense too.
Football will always be a violent collision sport but they have made a lot of changes since Junior played for the San Diego Chargers.

All facts no BS here. I remember being taught in high school to hit with my head but with my head up. But most of the hardest hitters on the team and other teams were hitting using the crown of the helmet.
I remember dealing with stingers, headaches, and neck pains and quickly realized this shit ain't for me. Also, of course seeing other guys sitting on the sidelines with icepacks on their neck, or getting concussions was discouraging. One kid on my team had 3 concussions within a MONTH in high school. I can only imagine the damage D1 players and NFL players accumulated.

There’s something nerve wrecking to me when I hear people compare people making millions of dollars doing something they LOVE to inmates, slavery and plantations. It’s a lazy analogy and very disrespectful to the people who actually didn’t get paid a dime to do something they were literally forced to do by means of torture and punishment.

Warren's is right about letting your kid play until 14, Jr. High is when they should start. Like he said if you can play you will play at a high level, Hollywood Henderson did not play until he was a Jr. in high school a lot of players were like that. John Randall, Joe Greene many HOFmers. Pop Warner should be outlawed it ruins kids, I played and was burnt out till I got to high school.
Yeah flag football I’m personally 100% for. But babies padded up is a big no.
Sapp is somewhat wrong about not playing before 14. I watched the evolution of how they coach these kids.. 12 years ago they taught the way Warren was taught.. 10 years ago they stopped certain drills.. 9 years ago they wouldn't let them make contact in practice in a drill from more than 5 yards. I told my friends for the last 10 years the NFL will be less about hitting because they are training them to play with skill. THE AUDIENCE won't notice it because the change will be Suttle over time. When they are really young they have weight limit and the kids are not running fast anyway. There is always a risk but it's not like the old days and I'm sure Sapp has spent zero weeks watching Pop Warner teams practice. The proof is in the physical stats too.. Look at the average weight of an NFL linebacker today.. the size of a receiver.. db's the average corner is 5'10 .. 175.. the game has evolved

My cousin started playing organized ball in the 10th grade and made D1 and had a shot at the league. You gotta start training them early but not necessarily putting on pads early. Seen one injury that stopped the game for more than a few mins.. the kids have weight limits.. they aren't running super fast and now they have them practicing the spread. Good luck in 5 years trying to play football for the first time and all the skills players have been in pop Warner and 7on7 leagues....

What he doesn't realize is that if they wanna be paid more then they have to play more... To stop or atleast try and help with injury by it being a violent game is use backups alot more and alot more effecient effort to develop The backups... that's why running backs have been all but dismissed as far as usage... These dudes have run the ball approximately 5000 carries from high school to the day they get drafted... Now you have a about 4-5 year window in the NFL.. but the rewards is millions of dollars!! Even the practice squad makes more in a season than I do in 5-6 years and I'm a truck driver... That's the risk they take for the rewards that's given
The reward isn’t completely worth it though. When you really think about it for certain positions like offense of line or a running back it’s basically just Squid Game, people willing to destroy their bodies for the potential of some sort of generational wealth.
The problem is the NFL didn’t really tell people the risks until it was forced to when the cat was let out the bag. And even now, even though we know about the concussion shit the NFL still does other things like heavily encourage the use of painkillers via peer pressure so unhealthy players will get on the field. Because that four-year window that you pointed out is basically the player being a short term investment, which is thanks to the college farm system and the rookie wage scale. They’ use them up like you’re seeing with players like Christian McCaffrey, cut them after the injuries mount after due to excessive mileage in a short span, and draft somebody new. Thanks to the popularity of the sport and shared revenue the teams already made their money back within the first year. And players are to partially blame for that, the rookie wage scale of 2010 cab only happened because dumb ass veterans were so jealous on the rookies getting paid high on draft night that those veteran players took the pitch the owners were selling which was that it’d help them and role players that only last 3-5 years, rode it, and priced everybody out of the game. 🤦🏾♂️
@@truthbeliever4865 Trucking is actually in need of massive reform and it’s widely known but the trucking industry, just like the NFL and other billion dollar industries, has a vice grip on the lobbyists. The health issues with the industry could actually be fixed by allowing for more breaks and having better healthcare coverage but then again trucking is the same industry where some drivers sit at a spot for hours at a time not getting paid despite technically being on the clock.

Black coaches during my little league and grade school football years didn't give af about no damn concussion. Betta get yo ass back on dat field boy or stay yo ass on the bench. A lot of parents need to realize this and stop letting kids play Pop Warner Football! High School Football and College Football is plenty enough time to know if you can play in the NFL period.
Pop Warner limits jist about everything and makes the game and practice about techniques much less about hitting. The kids play the game because they like it at that age not because they want to be Warren Sapp.. Pop Warner has a strict weight limit for kids too.. they don't play against way bigger players in most leagues.. it's not all about knocking a kids head off anymore..

I took my academic scholarship and quit basketball my sophomore year. Now I own an investment firm and those that went pro, are going broke with no education. My basketball helped me make a good choice and I made a better choice

I don’t mind the extended season as a fan but where the players Fd up is not asking for additional bye week or two. Football is rough. And the schedule is unfair for teams with early or late bye weeks. If you get a week 5 bye week you have to plate at least 3 months straight no break? The additional bye week would also extend the football season and we’d all like more football.
