I was thinking the same thing. My favorite artist J Cole used to do spoken word and this reminded me of that. Almost a poetry slam. The word ART is in artist after all.

I remember talking to him once. I told him how much his music meant to me growing up and how it moved me. He told me that the reason he makes the music is for people like me to feel a connection to it. Then proceeded to talk to me about his love for the art for about 10 minutes. It was amazing to see how passionate he still was after more than 20 years in the business and being such a legend. It’s still about the love. I’ll never forget that interaction for the rest of my life.

It's not as easy as you think to remember your own songs as opposed to someone else's. You have to repeat/bump yours consistently for a bit first. I can only do one of my verses word for word, but I can quote word for word multiple Nas, Pac, 3k songs, etc. Maybe it's just me though.

What comes after on the screen is a couple of bars in on verse three. Noticed this the first time I saw this interview couple of years ago, always thought why'd they try to do him like that but he showed them, eyes closed. 💯👊🔥
