- Video game music is kind of awesome and luckily there's a ton of it. So what happens when someone decides to narrow it down to their top 10? Well, you'd get a long list of notes, but also this video! Here are my top 10 favorite video game songs! Enjoy!

The arranger of FF7R’s “One-Winged Angel - Rebirth -“ got health problems due to stress during its creation. Poor guy I wish him well, he did a wonderful job.
Wow, I didn't know that, but damn that's unfortunate. It's my favorite song on the soundtrack though, so he absolutely crushed it.
@@KayJulers I don’t want to say “worth it” because I don’t believe any ultimately piece of entertainment, no matter how much of a banger it is, would be worth significant health problems. But Yasunori Nishiki’s dedication shouldn’t go unrecognized. I believe he recovered since though.
Those transitions were pretty clean man, nice job on the editing.
I don't really have much of a connection with the Final Fantasy series, but man when I heard the first few notes of One Winged Angel I just had the biggest smile on my face. I remember hearing that song as a kid and thinking it was so cool.
Thank you! Yeah, I feel like One-Winged Angel is just one of those songs that has become iconic even if people haven't played Final Fantasy. Kind of crazy how it's climbed so high on my list over the years.

10. Makes sense since my first Pokémon game was Black and my favorite Pokémon song is the credits to that game.
9. “Wait he didn’t pick the first Unique Monster theme from 2 for his Xenoblade pick”

I just remember the final image of the Bionis in that position with the world coming down on it, it’s great.
8. Seems like a cool song.
7. I would pick Nuclear if I could, but if I can’t pick that then it’s either the Best is Yet to Come or *AND IT WILL COME*
6. I think my favorite is The Other Promise because it’s so emotional and I love the version in KH3.
5. I love the Remix of Greudo Valley in Smash plus the main theme is good. Probably my favorite is the entire Hyrule Warriors soundtrack (But probably Silent Guardians), or from the main series is the Main Overworld theme from Spirit Tracks.
4. So many good Mega Man songs but I’l probably go with either Tornado Man’s theme or Armor Armadillo.
3 and 2. I haven’t played these games yet but I heard good things so I’m skipping these sections for spoilers. But I have heard The Grandma remix by FamilyJuels it’s great.
1. A classic. I love a lot of FF songs but can’t think of any I like more than how raw One Winged Angel is. Especially for the time. I played FFVII for the first time in 2019 and even after 29 years, I still got hyped for this final boss because of the theme it’s great (rip birth of a God tho). I just love how it builds up with more and more instruments to it by the end and it feels so threatening.
Also right before I thought it was from Chrono Trigger because of the rumbling.
I really like a lot of your choices, especially The Other Promise and your love for the Hyrule Warriors OST. I think it's the most underrated Zelda soundtrack and Silent Guardians, Focal Line, and all of the Eclipses are fantastic. Yeah, I think Mega Man might've been the hardest series to narrow down a single pick for.
I would love to hear you talk more about video game music, doesn't have to be too in-depth cause this was really enjoyable. Gonna have to check out more of those recommendations!
I was beginning to worry when you got down to your final 3 that NIER wouldn't make the list and that would have been a damn shame, personally I have a lot more connection to Weight of the World but Song of the Ancients is a solid choice
I'm a bit late but I just wanted to say I loved the way you showed One winged angel. Just like how og FF7 a black screen and then the music starts and you know you are in for one. The video overall is amazing too I really liked it. Hope you have a great one

Edit: I’m a dumbass Thoughts Enshrined plays in that scene. What I said is still true and both songs are pretty similar in evoked feelings. And both are amazing
Riki in that Melia and Kallian scene cemented Riki as my favourite character. He should be annoying by all accounts but has arguably the highest amount of wisdom in the whole party.

“That Person’s Name Is” is absolute peak VGM
I'd definitely have gone blue birds lament over morphogenic sorrow. That song makes me feel things every time I hear it. For years now.

i just found Snake Eater less than a week ago. because the cover performed by Nyanners was algorithmically recommended to me. and i was thinking to myself "i wonder if Metal Gear will make an appearance on this list. and i wonder if the song will be Snake Eater." all i can say is, what a thrill!
Was not expecting “morphogenetic field” to appear here, cool choice. You should try the AI Somnium series if you liked the Zero Escape Games.

Call me basic, but I'm a sucker for Cynthia's theme in Pokemon. I think I just generally like energetic music that hypes you up. I think I'd also throw in Pursuit: Cornered from Phoenix Wright, when playing the game I'd get discouraged and feel like I was in an impossible situation, but then I'd find some contradiction to grasp onto and when this song came on I'd feel so inspired.
Hey, thanks! Cynthia's theme is really good. I've always been partial to her encounter theme with the piano right before the battle. Funny enough, I will run games of Mafia for my classes and throw on background music to help set the mood. Whenever an accusation is made, I'll throw on the Cornered theme to make it more intense lol.
I wasn't anticipating that Xenoblade pick, but that is a damn fine pick. Still made me cry!

Okay so in no particular order
Gravity rush 2: red apple fell from the sky. I love the vocals with its hints of French but still being gibberish. Its like if a kk slider song was actually good.
Pokemon BDSP: Route 216, such an upbeat and happy song that actually makes a snow area cool.
Skyward sword main theme, such a magestic theme for an alright game.
Xenoblade has so many good songs so choosing one from each game. 1: Agniritha, such a desolt song with so much emotion. 1FC: time to fight, it is currently my alarm. X: The one which plays when a certain charecter dies (can't remember the name) 2: Mor ardain day TTGC: time to fight.
The world ends with you: Twisters, a werid choice but I really like it, need to be in the right mood though.
Persona 5 dancing: days when mother was there (or here can't remeber) such a up best song about having a dead mom.
And I'm sure there are more but I can't remember..
Kingdom hearts: dearly beloved swing version. I played this on loop for a couple of weeks working on my final unviersty project and it always got my energy back.
Duck tales: moon theme mainly because of the ducktales 2017 reboot
Very fun video, always nice to get some good recommendations on video game soundtracks from a fellow enthusiast! And I think a video like this is a good way for new (or any) viewers to get acquainted with you as a content creator.

Thank you! Yeah, Pokemon is just one of those series that has absolute bangers across the board. Pokemon Black & White has Aspertia City, Driftveil City, Gym Leader's Last Pokemon theme... too much amazing stuff.
It’s hard to go wrong with Xenoblade, I personally would pick unfinished battle or Torna Battle theme, but still, your choice is great

I really need to get around to it! I started a script for a video on getting into the Metal Gear series and have two other analysis ideas on my ideas list. Hopefully I can tackle at least one of them soon!
This was a fun list. While most of the songs weren’t my favorite from the franchises that you mentioned, it was nice to listen to your thoughts on the songs and the franchises they come from.
On an off-topic note, I know you are a big fan of the zero escape series and I wanted to know if you played/have any thoughts on ai the somnium files. I just beat the first game a few minutes ago and thought it was pretty good.
Great list, mine would be totally different but that proves that VGM is awesome! For those interested, my favourite song would probably be Gensokyo Millenium ~ History of the Moon from Touhou 8, probably with a Len’en song following right behind. The rest of the list would probably be a mix of Nintendo songs (XC, Mario Galaxy, Splatoon, Kirby) and songs from indie games (A hat in time, Undertale/Deltarune, VVVVVV, Just Shapes & Beats).
Really nice list, the one song per series really help diversify considering the thousands of songs out there. Oh and I just subs.cribe

I am surprised you only reccomended the 8-Bit Big Band cover of Lonely Rolling Star, and not also Aivi and Surasshu's cover. Listen to that one if you haven't already! It might be my favorite cover of the song.
I had actually never heard their cover, but I just listened to it and really enjoyed it! I liked the use of the section from Katamari on Rocks/Nah-Nah at the end.

Even though I knew Morphogenetic Sorrow would take the top cut, coming up with a recommendations list was hard because of songs like Ustulate Pathos and Ternary Game. ZE's OST always do a great job of fitting the setting and tone.

eh, fair enough. all of the songs here are outstanding in their own right. the competition is STEEP.
If I were to expand the list to Top 20 or so, then I think Everything's Alright or the Main Theme of To the Moon would've made it! The soundtrack fits the game very well!

I think Simple and Clean deserved an honorable mention for Kingdom Hearts
I was very seriously debating on giving it one of the slots. I likely would've gone with the Ray of Hope remix since that's my favorite rendition.
I heavily recommend playing “No Straight Roads”. The game centers around music and has the enemies attack you to the song’s beat.
That's a pretty sick premise. I know Mother 3 has the inverse where your attacks are boosted with timing and I always liked that. I'll check out the trailer.

One Winged Angel is cool but Dancing Mad is by far Uematsu's greatest work, not even close.
I think Dancing Mad is certainly impressive but admittedly has its “dragging” points in comparison to One-Winged Angel.
I really like Dancing Mad, especially the final section of the song, but I think it's the lyrical aspects and shorter nature of One-Winged Angel that does it for me.
Zero Escape is so underrated
Damn, I don't think I could ever make a top 10 list of my favorite video game soundtracks, let alone a top 10 songs from a given franchise, but a top 10 general video game songs ? I can't even begin to imagine how hard it musts have been for you to select only 10 songs
I probably thought about this for several days alongside multiple drafted lists haha. That's why I admit that some of these might fluctuate down the line because songs like Warthog Run, Comet Observatory, etc. were so close to being on here.

disappointed no PWAA, Touhou, Persona or Fire Emblem, but still a good list! Mine is vastly different (since my top 50 is mostly just Touhou and Xenoblade I'd be stretching a lot, top songs would be Lunatic Red Eyes - Invisible Full Moon and Yggdrasil, most likely)
Although I really like Persona's music from what I've heard, I haven't played any of the titles yet, so I think I need to do so before comfortably adding any. If I picked one from each of those series, then I'd say:
