Most Thai people have both real name and nickname since our real name + last name are quite long. Mine is considerably short compare to my friends, which are about the same length as Ten real name and it's looks even longer when written in English. FYI, many Thai names contain the word which sounded like the word po*n in English since it has good meaning in Thai language. It's means "Bless" or "Blessed" in Thailand so please be understanding in cultural difference between each country.
But why the names are long though. I mean is there like a history behind it in thailand?? I mean the names are quite long to even learn it in instance.
FYI - those Thai who have long last names + end with ‘kul’ mostly have their Chinese blood (ex. Ten, Bambam, or Nichkhun) and actually change their last names after their ancestors immigrated to Thailand (like in case of Ten, his Chinese ancestor might have ‘Li’ as his Chinese last name, so when he immigrated to Thailand, he changed it to be “Lee______“ to indicate his original Chinese last name and the word “kul” literally means clans in Thai so “Lee____kul” means the clans of Li). But in case of Lisa whose last name is quite short and doesn’t end with ‘kul’ (Manoban), I can tell that her family is authentic Thai with less to none Chinese blood😉 Ps. I’m Thai and my grandpa is an immigrant Chinese that’s why I’m quite familiar with kind of this things tho Edited: for more information if anyone is curious why Thai people (mostly with Chinese blood) always have long last name, it is because they want to address gracefulness, wealthiness with other good meanings in their last name (it’s definitely quite a common belief in our culture). As far as I understand, in case of Ten, his last name Lee-chai-ya-porn-kul might have a meaning as the Clans of Li with full of great victory (Lee&Kul = the clans of Li / Chai-ya = victory / porn= greatness). The common elements in Thai-Chinese last name would include the meanings of wealth, goodness, victory, longevity and some might have their ancestor’s occupation in the last name too (mine has longevity and diamond lol). For example, Nichkun Horavejkul, I’m not sure what ‘hora’ literally means but for ‘vej’, it means medical (I guess this was borrowed from Pali/Sanskrit). And to consider that his family has a medical-related business, it’s quite understandable tho lol (another example would be Thai former PM, Abhisit Vejjajiva whose parents are both doctor)
To whoever is reading this and want a further explanation about this. Probably, Thai names are very long(that's given). But they don't call each other on a first name basis. They have their real birthname and their call name(nickname).. Example. Chayaporn/Chayapon is the birthname(real name).. The mother will decide if either they will call their son Porn(the two last letter of their name which is พร and is pronounced as Pon), or they will make a new name to be the nickname.. To those who want to know how they make a nickname, they sometimes or mostly use english words. (This is true, someone even name Traffic and Highlight there😂) If you want to call Bambam or Ten in a Thai way but don't know their name you can call them.. Khun Bam and Khun Ten.. Khun means Mr/Ms. Or someone older and respectful than you. Or just someone worth the honor😅
@@Kingdom_Of_Dreams yeah. Thailand is the country i've known so far that has the craziest nickname. You can even name your child Book or Lamp, or any words that comes to your mind. Some uses deep english words.

i think names are so interesting and beautiful. growing up with a traditional irish name in the uk has been hard too tbh, i can’t count the number of times people made fun of my name, said the spelling was too difficult or asked me to change it. i’ll never do that though because i’m proud of my name and it’s meaning ❤ edit: my name means beautiful/bright and a great warrior in Gaeilge :)
I love Irish names!! Gaelic is so pretty. I love the name Aisling (can't remember if that's how you spell it), and I think it means "Dream". While I do love these names, I wouldn't give my future child a name with silent letters (or an uncommon name that is not pronounced how it is spelled) that would create awkward situations where people try to pronounce the silent letters and the child would have to keep correcting them 😭
This just came my way so I’ll give it a go. Even though I'm hispanic I can totally understand what it feels like having a long name and foreigners making fun of you or not even trying (I have two names and two surnames). It surprises me that most cultures have only one surname that comes from their dad and not another from their mothers.
It's just a cultural difference. In fact, I have a child in my preschool class with his father's last name and his mother's last name, and I legit didn't understand why it wasn't hyphenated, since some American mothers and fathers who want a child to have both of their surnames will hyphenate. But, if you put it like that, then I guess it's a Latin American thing, since the dad of the child is from Guatemala.
I'm not hispanic, but as a Brazilian, I understand you. My full name is Letícia de Souza Araújo, Souza is on my mother's side and Araújo on my father's side. Usually the mother's last name comes first, because it's the most important. I never understood why in other countries they only put the father's name and not the mother's, it seems so disrespectful!

Learned for my girls as well, love Chonnasorn Sajakul, it looks just like a cool name and Nicha Yontararak. The last name feels like a warrior's name in my language.
It's common not to know their long names in Thailand (I think? ) because their names are REALLY long and it's kinda hard to pronounce even thai actors are sometimes surprised when others know their full names and pronounce them correctly
I used to have a hard time pronouncing Thai names, it definitely sounds weird because it's super long but since I became a Thai bl fan, it's super easy for me to call them by their real names now HAHAHHA
I remember when this was weird to me and now I'm not even flinch if anyone from Thailand would introduce themselves as "Books or lampstand" lol..times truly have changed.
@@Weeping-Angel Yeah because Chinese last name is only 1 syllable and it doesn't sound beautiful for Thais. When they chaged it to Thai name, they made it extra because long Thai lastname is usually a noble family. Chinese descent in Thailand want their names to sound classy, that's why.
They probably have no idea about how long and complicated names, people in both South and southeast Asia have. For example I have 2 names and 2 surnames which are very loong. My friend has 7 names including all her surnames. Normally in our country the surnames include the positions our families held during the Kings days. I would love to have a 3 syllable name too.

i think names are so interesting and beautiful. growing up with a traditional irish name in the uk has been hard too tbh, i can’t count the number of times people made fun of my name, said the spelling was too difficult or asked me to change it. i’ll never do that though because i’m proud of my name and it’s meaning ❤
edit: my name means beautiful/bright and a great warrior in Gaeilge :)
I can’t really say anything about BamBam because he didn’t say his Thai name but I love how Baekyhun came to Ten’s rescue 🛟 at 1:24 when he put his hand on his neck and gave the bros a classy killer glare like stop ✋ messing with Ten. The old folks looked and stopped. Nothing against the bros but sometimes they go a little too far with the young ones. You got to give Baekyhun 🥇 mad respect he always comes to rescue and Ten proudly gave them a good come back. That’s my Chittaphon 🐅 for you.♥️
He said his name tho at 0:13 Kunpimook Bhuwakul.
They should do an episode with all Thai idols to try and let them pronounce their names. Then we'd have our Chonnasorn Sajakul, Lalisa Manoban, Papungkorn Lertkiatdamrong and Nicha Yontararak as well. Ofc there's more Thai idols and I hope we can see them all together for an episode in any show. 😊❤
Thats reminds me WHEN winwin say need 6 years to remember ten full name. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh, so TEN isn't just a stage name, he's literally Ten. Wow, didn't knew that. Thanks.
Thai's nicknames are usually 1 syllabel only and most of it have English meaning. Like Bank, New, Top, Frank, Lay, etc and thus Ten is actually pretty normal nickname in Thai.
@@firdasyaviera8772 aaaah, I see. That's kinda funny and cool at the same time. Thank you so much.
Yep! Fun fact his sisters name is Tern
@@mikaluuu2446 To be honest, our nicknames tend to be similar to the English vocabulary. So when we write our nicknames in English, we use that word. So that foreigners can easily call it, for example แบงค์ It's sound like Bank so we used Bank. 🥰
Yea but his actual Thai name is not Ten it's Tten or Dten Chittapon Leechaiyapornkul I heard him say it on a vlive and if you listen carefully some members will pronounce it that way. Ten Lee is just his stage name I believe
Am I the only one who never thought ten's real name is that tough
And I am not even Thai
Actually it's not tough.
Some Indian names are even more tougher than Thai names...
And for me Lisa's name sounds like a Indian name😅
@@MK-yt1oj yeah Lisa's birthname sounds like indian
@@lalisamanobangs1350 Yeah cause her birth name (Pranpriya)and current name Lalisa are sanskrit names, the languages Thai and Hindi are based on sanskrit the oldest language
@@reetigupta2351 oh
I never knew BamBam's Korean is so adorable
thai people: our names are too long to remember them
latinos: my grandmother’s best friend was called Margarida Emanuella García Monte y Silva
It's kind of a running joke that latinos have a million names haha.
@@Kingdom_Of_Dreams it really is hahaha
I've seen this clip so many time now and what gets me is both scene Lucas is just standing or sitting there. Like 'i am half Thai and half chinesee.'
Yesss Thai gang we stan. I am half Thai myself, but I don't have a Thai name.
Lee at the front of ten's family name that me his family is Chinese decent.
Be a legend, Be bambam. Lets just forget, if it's too hard to remember 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When Ten pronounced his name, he made it seems easy, when i tried to say, only my tongue is spinning inside my mouth😅
Bambam always forgets his hyung's name, which is so funny. Aside from his name being longer than his, his hyung changed his name a few years ago. But still pretty funny for me whenever he's asked and he says he can't remember...
Love baek's reaction to everything they said😄
being a bl fan ...it has become so easy for me to remember thai names ....gosh i'm in love with a lot of thai actors and i've learned their full name including bambam and ten too
Learned for my girls as well, love Chonnasorn Sajakul, it looks just like a cool name and Nicha Yontararak.
Mark sitting there as bright & pink as a highlighter
I remember when this was weird to me and now I'm not even flinch if anyone from Thailand would introduce themselves as "Books or lampstand" lol..times truly have changed.
BAMBAM SO CUTE HAHAHAHAHA
yeah thai names are really hard to understand i know that from thai bl series namjdjdsjjddj
In my country we have two names and two last names but they are easier to remember. So interesting
Istg Lucas is everywhere! At this point it wouldnt faze me to see my mans chilling at my local convenience store
This comment did not age well..
I am a person from latin america and I legally have 4 names(first, middle, and 2 last) so I understand his struggle when people ask if my name is real
want to see these two dance together
That's a thing in Bangladesh too where you have your legal name but everyone calls you by a nickname
i love Thai names. the coolest name ever is cls's Sorns full name. Chonnasorn Sajakul. goat Thai name. just flows outta the mouth.
I'm totally surprised about their real names especially Ten's real name. Wowsers. 😇
Glad Lisa did not have a long name😂
In all thai liners, i think lisa's name is the easiest even her birth name is easier than others
@@vc7631 yup,PRANPRIYA MANOBAN
Lisa has a pure thai name, which tend to be easy to pronounce. Longer thai names tend to be from people of chinese-thai descent.
@@pirapatxie8897 yeah. It always seems like the Chinese decent Thai people have longer names on purpose.
Thai names are always so long. . . I don't know why I find it cool. . .
Are you by chance a sri lankan? We do have very long names.
@@shakira7301 Yep😊
Okay when i first got into got7 and nct i was trying to read bambam's real name i quit cause i couldn't read it 😅😂 ten didn't even try😅
Even i having difficulties remembering street name in thai. Not to mention ppl real name haha😅
And then there’s Lisa...Lalisa Manoban
literally one of the easiest Thai name I ever heard.
It's actually pranpriya manoban
Ten thai name is the first ever name i learn from thailand after reading once
TENLEE💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💟💟💟💟💟💟💟💟
I'm always amazed at Thai names and how long they can be, then I remember I'm Mexican and that I have 2 names and 2 last names and then I laugh cause my full name is equally as long 😂
i was muted but i could hear ten say his name
Tenbam
Tens and bambams accents😭
1:18 byun baek why are you so cute🥺
Thai names are so fascinating. Even Bangkok’s full name is super long, like how do they memorise the full name 😭
