I've loved this Volker storyline. It a way, Jane and Lisbon have swapped roles here about who's chasing and who's worrying. I can't wait to see how this plays out in coming episodes!
Jane is always so smug and suave when he talks but it's different when he's being honest, he even stutters a little when he tells her he wants her to be careful

I caught that unspoken 'worried about you' as well ;) He really is worried, he needs her to stay unharmed, but he respects her so much he can't show his fear for her, he can't appear patronising her. And he definitely can not give away even a hint on his true feelings - his love. I'm absolutely sure by the time he knew he loved her.
@@elenak9473 yes in the past she quite passionately and clearly states she doesn't need to be saved and pointedly states "don't ever try to protect me, ever" (2x18) and more than anyone jane takes words said like that by her seriously. so her own independence (fear of vulnerability but also her strength) that keeps her from showing love helps him to keep from showing love. they colluded on their denial.

if you look at his mouth it seems he was about to say 'worried' his lips form a w. but to say 'im worried about you' he feared too much
