I bought an electric bike from them made payments every month on time, I let someone in the house ride to the store on a wet day and it stopped working (little hole in the comtrol panel) took it back because it was under warranty, they fixed it. It then sat in the back of the store for 2 months after it was already ready for me and they still wanted payment. I finally get it back when the manager and another woman weren't there, by coincidence, after driving an hour and a half back to the city where I had moved from where I had bought the damn thing. The guy gives it to me and tells me "I can't believe they made you wait this long I don't even know why we did what we did we had to take parts off a new electric bike and replace them on this one we should have just given you another one it's already been waiting for you for two months"...The actual fuck 😂

Just like the last gaming laptop my wife bought. She printed the receipts and all, showed a single charge for the computer, but the company charged her bank three times. Took two weeks to get the nearly 5k back from them, and the computer that should have been delivered in a week took three months to arrive.

That's where you went wrong man, a gaming laptop. If you're gonna spend the money for a piece of tech to game on, just build a tower. It's simple as shit and cost roughly the same if you take even two weeks to do some research and shopping.

Also my gaming laptop was in my hands before I even paid for it so... maybe dont order online?

When you fund a project on Kickstarter and they ghost you for a year...
Once had one ghost for 3 years. I had accepted that I was likely not going to get my product. And then it randomly shows up without email contact. It was a very cheaply made knockoff looking version of the product shown in their advertising. Now I only do kickstarters if I have the money to just throw away and think it would a fun surprise if a gag gift showed up.

Reminds me of a game that was supposed to be a 5 Player spaceship simulator which I fortunetly never backed. It started in 2012 and promised a beta to All backers in 2014 or so. In 2014 they went silent and came back in 2018 with New updates, then sent weekly devlogs until 2020 and since then went silent again 😂
I've been mostly lucky with the projects I've backed. I only had one failed project.

Nah you can pay in full... its what a chargeback is for... and if it costs you anything to perform said chargeback you bill the company that DIDNT sell you your goods.

I work at a furniture store and during covid that's basically what we had to due to customers, we didn't want to delay their stuff but the distribution and transportation systems were so fucked that it was literally a blind shot of anywhere between 2-10 months for stuff to arrive and there was no way to tell. One lady had here furniture delayed by a week, then another week and another week and another, basically we kept being told it'd be here in a week and then when the week came it was delayed, she unsurprisingly canceled and guess what, her furniture showed up next week
Anyone who complained about shipping during covid was an idiot. We all knew how the world was virtually shut down.

I know it isn’t a computer nor is it thousands of dollars but I am dealing with this right now for a simple cattle separator. It’s a $30 rattle paddle on a golf club shaft.
The store was out so I had them order a green one in for me. I could have bought it online and had it shipped to me for $45 but I don’t like spending money needlessly and I do like supporting local businesses.
It was only supposed to take until their next shipment came in, 3 days. Two weeks later I went in to see what is going on and they said it will be in with the next shipment and they would call me when it is in but it might be blue instead of green. Not excited about that but it was a “might be” blue. So I figured I would wait to see what they come up with.
It is now two weeks after that and I still haven’t heard from them. I am about ready to just order a green one online and if the other one eventually comes in I will have an extra.
Get your money back, they're not even doing what you paid then to do.

Yeah, I've been through this. The company was apparently using order funds to pay for the previous orders. I was at the tail end and never received anything before they got shut down for fraud.
I work in a similar job where we are customer facing and depend on other departments to actually get things done. Trust me when I say it's the worst thing ever when it's impossible to get something done for months on end and we do really try, but at the end of the day it's not up to us so all we can do is try our best to reassure the customer and go up the chain of command until someone cracks

To be fair, chances are really good getting ripped off when you buy from any local computer store. There's plenty of decent online stores with a good rep out there and way better prices. My last computer had some issues with faulty components, and it was replaced 2 times for free. the first time they replaced the entire thing and gave me a slighter better one, the second time they offered to replace the parts or have it sent in for replacements. Every time I went to local stores with issues they tried to rip me off, either charging ludicrous prices for repairs or simply trying to sell me a new system, despite the issue being rather cheap to fix...

Turns out when you take it to the BBB, the attorney generals office, and other agencies for consumer protection do they FINALLY get back to you and after insisting on refund did they finally cut a check and return it.
