If it’s a Manuel transmission then why do we put automatic transmission fluid? ( asking because it’s my first time doing this and don’t want to buy the wrong fluid)
Some manual transmissions rely on splash lubrication to protect bearings, gears, synchro's etc the M5OD-R1 being one of them as a light duty gearbox. Heavier weight oils can run the risk of not properly lubricating those areas. Stick with what the manufacturer recommends which is Mercon ATF, you can buy Dex/Merc or use new Mercon V ATF.
@@tylerwilliams1882 imma have to double check my manual, it certianly mentions using 75w gear oil iirc but im unsure if they mention if the Mercon V is acceptable.

bro atf is automatic transmission fluid, you're supposed to use 75 90w gear oil for a ford ranger that is a manual.
i saw in manual of ford ranger , is the same oil for both transmision MERCOM V atf , its weir but is the true .

ATF. Gear oil is for the differentials. The 80s truck used gear oil. Check your manual.
