I've been scouring the Internet looking for an oldtime banjo that really speaks to me, and so glad I found the videos of you playing this banjo on Rickard's website. I'm on the build list and looking forward to a Spring 2025 build for the 11" pot model with a hide head. Thanks so much for posting videos of this remarkable banjo!
I have had this same banjo for a couple of years now....still fantastic! The antiquing is wearing off in the high contact areas which I absolutely love, it makes it even more unique and beautiful! I had a hide but replaced that with a renaissance head, and I have a moon bridge built by Jason Romero on it. It is absolutely killer! Will be an instrument I will pass down when I am gone
Just picked up a new Rickard Maple Ridge Dobson banjo. Remarkable banjo made by great maker with an inspiring life story. Now I want that Whyte Lady next. It sounds way "Old Timey" !
Nice "Woody" tone given all the metal it's made of. You should've played it Scruggs style as well. Some of us prefer a woody sound (I do) for in the living room, quieter, don't want to raise the dead, level of sound. The brass tone ring is just SOOO loud all the time. Nice change. Not just for frailing any more.

Whats the name of the intro tune?
Is the dowel stick curved or is it just the camera angle? Great banjo, Great playing!....I'm ordering one soon.
Hey Ernest, it’s just the camera. I shot part of this with my old Gopro. The dowel in this banjo is straight as an arrow!
I need a new Kentucky Thunder album in my life any chance I can expect one soon? New Banjo sounds great.
