- Gillian Hills was one of the most beautiful and sexy women of the 1960s. She sang pretty nice and she recorded many LP's, probably you have seen her in movies like "Blow-Up". "Beat Girl" y "Clockwork Orange". She did not win popularity as Brigitte Bardot (both of them looked almost the same). Anyway, she's fantastic. I recommend you to listen "Rentre sans moi" & "Rien est changè".
It seems this video has been already posted, but I reuploaded here in UA-cam.
she made a comeback! in 2021 she released an album called LiLi. idk anything about her but it's super interesting she came back to music after nearly 60 years. that's almost a lifetime for some
She was so cute! She had a nice voice too. VERY Brigitte Bardot-like. I wonder if her similarity to BB made people write her off as an imitator or copycat and that’s why she didn’t have a longer career. Regardless, she should’ve been a much bigger star.
Early(?) sixties faded memories come back to life with this charming little piece.
reminds me of the song Anna Karina sings in ''Une femme est une femme''
Wooohaaa Magique.
OK folks, here my translation ( part 1)
My first cigarette:
Six month ago, i was 16
yes, and him was too
In this mansion, where there were all those students, my friend Jimmy was there
Oh Jimmy, Jimmy, he was a champion
I remember one night
where near the talkbox, for the first time, i hold in my fingers a cigarette
and jimmy , jimmy was with me
my heart was almost beatin' hard
but his one, was normal
many people have already sent me messages about being kind of hard with this girl, but I'm trying to grab the attention of youtubers to other unknown singers. Gillian Hills would be practically forgotten if there were no compilations like "Twistin the Rock" who has saved singers like Jocelyne. FG is a very nice singer, but is still famous thanks to Michel Berger (who was actually a ssuuper good writer with Patricia Paulin). Many good vids of the 1960s have been forgotten, anf FG is already compl
@LUKADATAS I think it's a problem with the fidelity of the audio, you can download the series "Twistin The Rock"... and there you can find a clean version of this song (btw she had a great voice)
I don't smoke but I DO listen to Gillian Hills. Got most of her recordings.
A+++++******* Joe Rocket
and part 2:
we were doing some (?)
and i was thinking that i was going to be vanished
I was having some tears under my eyes
and it was delicious
But i don't know if it was because of the tabaco or because, because of something , something that Jimmy told me that night: I love you
_
So this song is a perfect example of a 60's french song, lyrics were "blah", music were simple but all of this were charming! Was'nt?
aha du délire!
My aunt sang this
smoke dat ciggy baby
Eu poderia dizer que esse ritmo seria uma bossanova francesa 👍
@thompsi99, I'm glad to see you took your time :D well, I do think she had talent and a good voice, she recorded many EP's, but unfortunately she was not talken in consideration at her time. I don't think she's unknown... that comment I post it 2 years ago I think, she appeared in some films, changed the color of her hair too many times and was very grroovy! I invite you to listen to more songs of her and you'll find a great example of the early French yè-yè
Gillian looks a bit like 1950s Brigitte!
Almost 50s I think!
une cough
I'm glad to read such a good appreciation! Actually she was a beautiful actress and singer who had a pretty nice repertoire. Gillian Hills appeared before France Gall, and there are many many singers who were greater than France Gall. Gillian actually sang one written by SG, that I actually don't like. "Bufalo Bill" is a song written by SG to Stone and I don't really like it also. I think France Gall is famous due to all her vids who are running through internet.
Many LP's what?
Shame about your caps lock button! I understand her perfectly, by the way
