    Sharmon, I need you to know that I REALLY needed this video today. My beloved Aunt who saved my life as a child had a massive stroke last week, sadly her body is still here but what remains of her mind is that of a 2 year old. She will need to be placed into a longterm care facility for the remainder of her life, prior to this she was a very active 84 year old who only retired 3 years ago. The stress of it all on top of the text message phone tag with extended family members had me feeling very close to snapping. Then I saw this video and smiled. Thank you, this walk on the beach picking up pretty seashells and saying hi to our critter friends really helped! Thank you. What you do matters.

    Yay, 1st. Thanks Sharmon, that was a productive slow day. I love limpets. I can remember years ago when I carried two bags when shelling (plus a small Tupperware for tinys) and people would ask what I found. I would show them what was in one bag and they would ask about the 2nd bag, it was trash. I can't count the number of times people would say WHY and I finally got to the point of saying because it is there. This started in the early 70's, it took until about 2000 before they stopped asking why. I used to pick up 100's of cigarette butts and candy wrappers. Sorry for the rant.

      if everyone who visited "nature" picked up a little litter...just think how much nicer those excursions would be for the next nature lover. litter patrol doesn't have to just be beaches;) although it would be a whole lot nicer if folks would be better about not littering in the first place

    Dear Sharmon,
    Here in the Netherlands, we have dense fog for more than a week now.
    It gets a bit better along the day, but it keeps gloomy.
    So, lots of airplanes are delayed because they can't fly.
    To be honest: we are all quite done with it, and we are longing to see some sunlight again.
    But that being said: the foggy day you went out shelling was amazing. And although it wasn't easy to find them, the shells are gorgeous!
    And those critters; you've got to love them!❤ They're so cute! 😍
    I hope you have a wonderful week! Sending love and hugs, xoxo ❤, Ilona

    Funny thing about banded tulips - there are almost none some places up here (I see a few at HISP), and then there are tons at Pass-a-Grille Beach. The sunburst CS's aren't picky about how many bursts there are - I've seen 1 - 4. Love those too! 🥰 That was a great video of the hermit crab! Thanks, Sharmon! 😘

    ?? about the Bug Barrier, is the regular spray at all waterproof, or do you need to reapply it all the time if you're wading and reaching into the water? Have you tried the Bug Barrier Body Butter? The description on that says water resistant. DD got munched by no see ums last month and had an awful reaction to them, 50 times worse than the tiny red bumps they leave on me. I want to be prepared for our summer trip! Thanks

      I do have the bug barrier body butter but have not tried to use it on my bare skin yet. It does seem to be water resistant, but I think eventually you'd want to reapply.

    Is it true that they changed the name of the fighting conch ? I just learned all the names lol

    • @SWFBeachLife
      @SWFBeachLife  5 днів тому +1

      Yes, kind of. Technically it's not a Florida Fighting Conch any longer. It's a West Indian Fighting Conch. I like Florida Fighting conch better, so I am probably going to continue to call them as such.

    I might be alone in it, but most of these slimy critters look positively disgusting. And yet, I can’t stop looking at them. Fascinating.

    I love sand dollars. When I was in Sanibel, before stupid Ian, I found a love one and put it back in the water. Few minutes later a lady walked past me with it. I told her it was alive. She wasn’t too nice and she kept on walking after saying so,e unpleasant things to me.
