It's only flaw is being released so late into the NES' lifespan. If Felix was released two years earlier it would be a fondly remembered game instead of a cult classic.
You're definitely right, this game deserved more recognition, but I'll be honest: I probably never would've given this game the time of day simply because I had no idea who Felix the Cat even was at the time.
Picked this up CIB a couple years ago. Easy, but highly enjoyable platformer that you can come back to time and again, and still enjoy. Ranks alongside Lone Ranger, Jackie Chan’s Action Kung Fu (also Hudson Soft), and Journey to Silius as my favorite NES discoveries as a collector.
@@Darkchao_berserko22 I believe that too. There is one UA-camr who has also covered the topic of Russian bootleg games, his name is ConnerTheWaffle and he also talked about that unlicensed Felix the Cat game from Russia. But if someone actually made a real port of this NES classic for the Genesis, that would definitely be much better, because why play a bootleg version when you can have a port of the real version. It was probably done that way because the presentation of that game is not good enough, the graphics in that game are excellent, but the introductory scenes to the next levels are missing and the title screen and the scene when the evil doctor calls Felix are also missing. And the scene where Felix laughs as a transition before the next title screen of the level is also missing. There are no boss battles at all and the game is extremely short and can be completed in 13 minutes. Simply, that Russian unlicensed game doesn't have much to offer and lacks variety, and it would make sense if someone did a real Genesis port because it would be a lot more varied and would keep people's attention, which is the most important thing, and also that version wouldn't be that much short compared to what we got.

Came here because of the ESRB leaks that mention a Felix The Cat collection so this will be possibly coming to modern platforms along with other Felix games
Saw this pop up and thought I'd give it a look. I was expecting it to be pretty meh considering it was a licensed title and thought it might give me a chuckle. I am left very pleasantly surprised! Certainly impressed by the sprites and vehicle usage! I'm probably going to give this game a go now.
Did you know that there was _another_ Felix the Cat game for the NES? However, that one was an unlicensed bootleg which was loosely based on the 1936 cartoon The Goose that Laid the Golden Egg (incidentally, the first Felix the Cat cartoon to be made in colour), complete with Captain Kidd as the bad guy (simply called "the greedy captain" in the bootleg).
Just to update dude, This game along with the Game Boy version got released on Current Consoles like PS4, PS5, etc a month ago & didn't know until a few days ago. Will try to play this later this week. Glad I got a chance to play it even when I'd lost that chance years ago when I'd had the NES Console back in the day.
@@NintendoComplete I did play the game after I posted this & have beaten both versions of the game & at the same time I have the second 100% trophy completion of the game.
When Stuttering Craig of ScrewAttack did a Video-Game Vault on this, he claimed nobody knew who Felix was. Obviously, Craig never read the comics, or even watched the 50's and 90's cartoons or the film.

Felix the Cat for the Nintendo NES is based on the famous cartoon character. The Professor has kidnapped Kitty, Felix girlfriend, trying to exchange her for Felix' magic bag. Naturally, Felix is not going to let himself be blackmailed, and instead sets out to free Kitty. There are four different types of levels. Typical platforming levels in which Felix has to make his way to the exit while jumping about obstacles and chasms, killing enemies using different weapons. Swimming levels in which Felix rides a float or on the back of a dolphin. Levels that take place entirely under water. Flying levels that put Felix in control of different flying devices, such as a plane, a hot-air balloon or an umbrella. Throughout all levels, Felix can collect cat symbols to improve his weapons. After collecting a certain number of cat symbols, milk bottles or hearts will appear. Hearts improve Felix' current weapon. What types of weapon Felix can use, depends on what type of level he is in. There are lots of different weapons ranging from a boxing glove to motorcycles to tanks to spaceships. All weapons that are better than the standard weapon have an energy bar that diminishes over time and can be refilled by collecting milk bottles. Getting hit by an enemy decreases the level of Felix' current weapon. If he gets hit while carrying the standard weapon, he loses a life. The Game Boy version plays virtually identically the same to the NES version, but features fewer and less levels.
This game is longer than I thought...I heard somewhere that it was 9 levels, but it's actually 25 levels across 9 worlds. It's basically like a Mario game. Still good tho
Turn up the brightness! What? Thats the game's issue and not the TV or person behind the upload? Well, do I have egg on my face assuming that. But yeah, game is too easy and the music is pretty good. World 1's music is easily the best one.
