I use two injectors on my steamboat. I use a Penberthy 1/2" injector. I also have a Chicago 1/2" Injector, originally made it Wadsworth Ohio. The wood/kerosene/propane fired Boiler is rated to operate up to 200psi slightly super heated steam. The injector creates a great enough vacuum that the injectors can suck up water from the lake I'm floating on. The injectors are the primary feed sources for the boiler that are used to make up the water that is primarily being used to run the 6HP two cylinder reciprocating steam engine which turns the propellor.

the overflow also preheats the water, further, with that % flow in the loop is recirculated back to steam entrance. This improves efficiency by not quenching the steam to early, and also reduces resonance, hammer, and random fluctuations of steam and cold water only. Also the pressure tank cannot be overfilled, this is very important, allowing time for equilibrium without destructive fluctuations.

Very good , succinct with what I know of the Venturi effect, I sort of get it , and to some extent how it could be used as a vacuum

Why is the pumping efficiency of a steam injector low?

So I have an idea I'm gathering more information on, if you'd like to talk about some kind of deal for your help in the engineering of it, it sounds like you're very knowledgeable about steam, and I could use your help. it's gonna be big lol, world changing.

I need more help understanding why the steam flows to the injector. If the steam pressure is X then the water in the boiler is at the same pressure. Which means there is no pressure drop across the nozzle which means no flow. The condensing steam must be adding the energy to make this work. Please let me know your thoughts.

Dear William, yes you are right, the water and steam inside the boiler has same pressure. However, 1unit of steam in the boiler has much more energy content in it than 1unit of water. You can use this energy to pump much more than 1unit of water to the boiler. The reason steam flows into injector, because the water its going to suck into the boiler in the atmospheric pressure. This causes steam flow with higher speed to the injector. And the injector pumps water to boiler without using any moving parts. Isn't it an ingenious mechanism?

Where does an engine sit in all this? How much constant psi is produced?

I wish I had a magic wand to know what people wants. I try to make my videos as self explanatory as possible but sometime I fail. Please make a mp3 file and send it to me mekanizmalar@gmail.com and lets see how well you version is received. I can delete the one I have. I always strive for the best.
